However I relate on two levels, my what would be big brother was 7 years old and was crossing the street when a drunk driver hit him and kept going. We have never found the drunk driver and my brothers life was taken. My other level of this is that my father is a man who has had several DUI's and is spending time in prison right now for all his wrong doings he never hit anyone or caused any accidents that involved anyone else, but PLEASE think before you get in the car! I am a girl in college nad yes I like to drink but I know better then to drink and drive and I hope after reading the things you do and hearing stories that you will think TWICE before you get in a car after you have been drinking or after your driver has been drinking! | Comments : | I was in a car accident september 5, 2003. Drinking and driving was the case. The only difference is the driver of my vehicle was the one drinking. I chose not to drink out of everyone in the car. Alcohol can ruin your life, I only got to expierence a week in a half of my freshman year. Now I am on homebound, because of the accident. So please don't drink and drive, i almost died in it, i didnt have a seatbelt on. I really truly believe i would have gone thru the window if it wasnt for my friend that grabbed me.
Drinking and driving is probably one of the stupidest things anyone could evr think of doing, and now getting in a car with someone who has been drinking isnt even an option to me anymore. It is probaly the hardest thing I have ever done but it is true. I know that when she does pass away that she will be in a better place. She has fought a long hard battle all of life,she is so wonderful, when I am her age I would be totaly be satsified if I was half as great as she is. | Comments : | I lost my friend Nichole Pace, Oct. 8, 2002, in a single car accidnt. She lost control and died instantly. She was a senior and would have been the first on both sides of her famly t graduate. She was so smart. She was only 17. Now today is May 15, 2003. May 2, 2003, I lost my best friend Blake Divido in a single car accident. He lost control and that was all. They life flighted him to an Atlanta hospital. He had head trauma, internal bleeding, and pretty much just broken from the chest down. He got to the hospital about 10:30 a.m., I got there about 1:00 p.m. He was on 100% life support the whole time. His parents went back there alot, but no one else could see him. The doctors would come out and tell us how he was doing. The first time was to tell us that he had no brain function at all. The second time to let us know that his kidney's had stopped functioning. He had 2 blood transfusions, but as fast as they put it in his body, it was leaving his body even faster. The third time they came out wasat like 1:18 a.m. to tell us that his heart had stopped. He was only 17. I was there for 13 hours and it was by far the hardest time of my life. I guess because I knew there was nothing I could do, but just sit there and wait. All of our friends are whats really holding us all together. We are all so close. And I guess the reason I liked the poem SOmeone Else is because it is so true. Kids don't think it could ever happen to them, but it can. I just look at it this way, "Tomorrow's not promised to anyone".

| Comments : | these stories are true, except little details of what leads up to some of them. people die everyday in fatel accidents that can be prevented if you only take the time to be safe. I have known too many people who have had extremely close calls, that could have had them ending up on stretchers on the way to the hospital, or the morge. The only advise I can give anyone, is if you are going to go to a party, dont drink and drive, dont get in the car with someone who has been drinking, take your friends keys if they are going to drink, and if you can, stay the night at wherever it is that the party is happening (talk your friends into staying too) so that there is no way of you ending up like the innocent people that die on the side of the road or in hospital beds for reasons that werent their fault, or could have been avoided. |

| Comments : | i awoke to the phone ringing it was my dad, he told me take a sit i have some bad news ,i said ok, he said "3 of my really close friends where in a car accident and one of them i grew up with my whole life got killed in the accident R.I.P Seth""" my mind went flashing all the memories i had with him tears began to run down my cheeks and the questions why why did this have to happen my other friend was seriously injured in the accident he broke his shoulder,colour bone,his pelvis in 2 places he will never be able to walk far distances again he will have to get a desk job the rest of his life he spent 4 days in the hospital he wrk hard though his recovery only to be there at the funeral and the driver one of my good friends and still is i can't hate him for what happened it was an accident but he broke his wrist and cuts and bruses ,it all started one night they range from 18-19 where served at 3 bars that night and the last bar they went to Seth asked him to drive cause he was to drunk to drive and then the accident happened 1/2 mile from his house he lost control on the suv they where in"Didn't have experience driving suv's" he left the road went down a 50feet inbankment and hit a tree on Seths side killing him insantly ,,, now the driver faces 1st degree Homicide with use of an intoxicant,, he's lookin at life but i'm there for him and everyone else is to ,,, Seths father made the remark to the driver not sayin names " my love is with you ****** i don't hate you for what happened it was an accident.... i'm saying think b4 you drink plz so no one has to loose a good friend and go through this i lost 4 friends including my cousin within 1 1/2 moth period i am still not the same and i don't think i will ever be so again plz don't drink and drive call somone ..taxi.parents friends plz don't drink and drive its not worth it and it kinda seems like it takes a life to think about the causes and things that can happen. |

They really touch me because of the fact that i have lost more friends from drinking and driving than i can even keep count. It is very sad but some times things happen for a reason in life and there's nothing anyone can do to change that. Never let a friend drink or do drugs before they drive even if they say there okay. |
