Love the site and have always love the GS! I have notice the amount of attention payed to illnesses this breed has on this guestbook. I think most people need to realize that all breeds have there problems as do humans. That is the risk we all take when we adopt a new member into our families. Hi Pat,
I don't know if you remember me but I am a friend of Mary's and had to put my dog "Harley" down as he ended up having cancer. I had talked to you about the feeding and nutrition of your G.S's. Anyway, I really miss Harley and it's hard because there are reminders of him everywhere. A footprint on the ground at the park where we had walked, some fur from me grooming him etc. Anyone who has ever loved a giant knows exactly what I'm talking about. I have had dogs all of my life but when I got Harley it was different. For the first year I thought OMGosh! I didn't feel like I new or understood this dog but I kept working with him doing Obedience training for comp. and teaching him manners and also really socializing him. It really paid off because he turned out to be the best companion I have ever had. They are so funny and loving. I never dreamed he would only be with me for 41/2 short years. I have learned alot about the diet they need to eat and also how the vaccinations may effect them. I have looked on so many G.S. websites, about 40, and I just want to say your dogs are the most beautiful and healthy looking dogs I have seen. Some day I would love to be able to qualify hopefully, for one of your 2-3 year old dogs. I live in Tn. and am not interested in showing for conformation but would make a great home for another Giant Schnauzer. I love the temperment of Giant Schnauzer. I had one back in the 60's. My problem was hips. He was a show dog from Camoli Kennels in N.Y. Are the hips on your breeding stock at least normal. I'm old, but active. It was heart-breaking to have him crippled. He got the operation, I want a healthy dog in all respects. I also like wire-haired, not a soft coat like a Cocker Spaniel.

What a site!! Thoroughly enjoyed reading, and looking at your wonderful photographs. I have been entranced with Giants since I saw them working for the Italian Police force in Perugia. At the time, I assumed all Police dogs were either Dobermans or German Shepards, silly me! We are getting ready to move to the dream home of our dreams that has 10 acres and have promised our 4 children we will finally get another dog. My wife and I are really impressed with your views and information shared on your Giant Schnauzer web site. We currently have a Male Wire Haired Fox Terrier (neutered) that will turn 11 in August. He is the best dog that I have ever had as part of my family... He is a very loving and quiet family dog. We have 3 children and have been considering getting another dog. One of our neighbors has a giant Schnauzer. We actually like the idea of getting a dog that is a little older and trained. Our yard is approximately 1/2 acre with an Invisible Fence brand fence.

It's been awhile, just wanted to let you know that Roxy is doing well and still the love of our lives! She is such a comedic, a lover and smart dog. The kids absolutely adore her and she has become my "velcro daughter" I cannot go anywhere with her right by my side. She adores the kids and has a fit if they go outside without her. She will sit at the kitchen window with her head resting on the window sill until they come back in. I can't imagine life without her. Hope all is going well on your home front, the pics of the pups are wonderful!! I remember when she was that small. In her mind she still thinks she's a puupy, still tries to get under the kitchen table chairs. As long as her head is under one she thinks we can't see her. Silly! Sometimes she sticks her head under the couch, hoping no one notices. She's the love of our lives! | |

Pat- We put Katrina in her kennel Sat night and about 15 min later she went WILD- barking, trying to get out- which she never does. We couldn't get her calmed down - we let her out thinking someone had gotten in. I looked out the window to see if deer were outside - the house across the street was on fire! It had just started and the owners were out of town- she had smelled the fire as it was starting- she saved their house! We wouldn't have known it had Katrina not alerted us. Hi I just wanted to let you know that i just meet Mary and Zoya at the Tyler Obed Training... and she is awesome! I noticed her right away and stopped Mary, who was so willing to visit! (I have owned, trained and showed rottweilers for 25 years, I actually have my first champion which we are now going to try for a cd..) never have I been impressed with another breed until I meet her.. not only smart, but beautiful, I'd say elegant!! I was so impressed with her...a giant just may be in my future!! ha!

You have very good looking Giant Schnauzer dogs. They look sort of like minature Black Russian Terriers with their ears cropped. I was considering a Giant Schnauzer, but somehow ended up importing a BRT male from Zolotogo Grada BRTs in the Moscow region. So far, the BRT male has excellent joints. I'm not so sure about his teeth, but he's growing very unevenly. What may appear to be a fault is just a growing stage. Structurally he seems perfect. A lot of Giant Schnauzer people in Canada are now importing the BRT dogs from Russia and the Ukraine. Perhaps you too will venture into the BRT breed. I hope you like obedience training and agility. More people need to import the BRT dogs, because there are not enough dogs in North America. With your experience with the Giant Schnauzer, you would be perfect in importing and breeding the BRT dog. The U.S. needs more BRT people. | |

My wife and I have had our miniature schnauzer Archimedes since he was 6 weeks old and we couldn't imagine our lives without him. He is a ball of energy and certainly has a personality of his own. We have been thinking about adding another dog to our family and hope we can do it within the next 18-24 months. Hi: I am considering ownership of a Giant Schnauzer. I lost my best friend about 1 1/2 years ago, a very large german shepherd, and it has taken me this long to finally be ready for another great pal. I am a single professional woman, no other pets in the house. I've always owned large dogs and been a horsewoman for most of my life. I'd love to hear if you have a female--pet quality--. Lisa: I am very sorry for your heartbreaking experiences. It is hard to hear but a powerful message for breeders to keep their eye on the ultimate goal which is sound, healthy dogs with great bodies and brains that last a lifetime. I have had the pleasure of loving two giant schnauzers in my life. My first very special girl did not live past two years old. My second was sent to me per my contract since my first girl lived only a short life. My second giant was a male and had severe mental problems. We could only keep him until he was 22 months old. He attacked my daughter and from that point on we could no longer have him live with us. What a beautiful boy tho. I am now ready to get another giant and saw your page. Thank you for your pups! | |
