| Comments: | I am a Hibdon born to: Billy Ray Hibdon of Brady, Texas and Doris Jean (Clements) Hibdon of Coleman Texas. My grandfather was Emery Carl Hibdon (Father's father) &
grandmother was Anges Sophia (Landrum) Hibdon (Father's mother)also of Brady Texas. Currently both of my granparents are deceased, buried in Brady, TX in the Rest Haven Cemetery. My Father Billy just recently past away March 18, 2007, he is buried in the Pontotoc Cemetery in Pontotoc Texas. From what we know. Some of our relatives were from the Brady, Mason, and Pontotoc Texas areas. There are quite a few "Hibdon" graves in the Pontotoc Cemetery, most were deceased around 1892. Thomas Hibdon, Annie Hibdon, Simon Hibdon, Jackie or Jackson Hibdon. We would love to put the pieces of our Hibdon family together, would like to hear from anyone. | Comments: | I am the ggrandaughter of Elmira Hibdon Jones, born in 1866 in Texas. I am looking for any info on her. I know that she went to Oklahoma in 1898, with mom and dad-John and Lucinda Hibdon. Younger brother, Albert, and little sis,Ada, also went.
I know that John and Lucinda both passed in Feb. 1902 and are buried at Ryan, OK. I have pics of that if anyone is interested. I know that Elmira's husband, James E. jones passed in 1910, and she may have moved around Oklahoma City. I'm looking for ANY info on her. |

I know that she moved to Oklahoma from Guadalupe County, Texas in 1898 with mom Lucinda Gillespie Hibdon, wife of John. I also know that younger brother Albert and little sister Ada (Gardner)went. I know that Elmira had kids named Lenora Geneva, Levi L., twins Davy Crocket and Edward B., Arthur Custer, Letitia Vienna, and Stasey. I believe they settled around Ryan, OK because that is where John and Lucinda are buried. I have pictures of that if anyone is interested.
Any information on Elmira would be greatly appreciated. Her husband passed away in 1910 and is buried at the Velma, OK cemetary. She may have traveled with some of her kids to Oklahoma City. Thanks, Sherry |

| Comments: | I am the Clinton LeRoy Hibdon mentioned in your geneology, and I would like to add the following corrections to my immediate family info:
1. My father, Wilford R. Hibdon, is alive and well, and still lives in Camdenton MO (age 74). The relative who died in Nevada MO is my maternal grandfather, Henry Edward Pape. 2. My birthdate is July (not April) 20, 1954. Also note that my middle name is correctly spelled LeRoy, with the capital R. This is important, the name is pronounced with the accent on the LAST syllable. Also, I currently reside in Hartford CT. I am single, and have no children. 3. Phyllis Mae Hibdon (sic) is actually my stepsister, the daughter of my mother from a previous marriage. Her legal name before marriage to James Ray Stone was "Phyllis Mae Jones", as my father never adopted her. Her biological father was one Aubrey Jones, of whom I know nothing, as he and my mother divorced before I was born. Your information indicates that she was born in 1951 and married in 1959, this is obviously wrong. She was married in 1969, at age 18, not age 8. :-) I know we Ozark families have a reputation of marrying early, but come ON now!!! And here is some speculation: If Seth Hibdon's son was definitely here in the 1790s, then his father Seth must have been part of the Scots-Irish immigrations of the mid-1700s. The tradition of my own immediate family is that "the Hibdons come from Ireland." More precisely, they come from Scotland by way of Ireland, the "Ulster Scots" in Ireland, and "Scots-Irish" or "Scotch-Irish" in America. The Hibdon/Hebden name is spread all across eastern Britain from Yorkshire northward to the Orkney Islands. One researcher traces the name back to the Norman French nobleman Osberne d'Arcis, recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) as having a hall and farm in Yorkshire called Hebden or Hebedene. Well, it surely sounds good, and who am I to argue? :-) |

Hibdon (Missoui) died in an accidental fire leaving 5 small children and wife (I have their names but not handy). Rather than allowing the Hibdon Clan and her family to split the children, she fled from her original home to another Missouri location and raised her family there (near present day Eldon, Missouri).
