I am researching the following Powells: William Jackson Powell born in 1845 in Macon County NC I believe he was the illegitimate child of Jane Powell whose father was Joseph Powell. All living in the Pendleton District of what is now Pickens County, SC. Jane is shown living with Joseph and Elizabeth Powell on the census in her mid thirties with a small child named William living there also. I am searching for My Mothers Father's POWELL Family. My Grandfather was John Case POWELL Family said that he was Irish. About 1906-1907 John Case Powell married Lula BRADSHAW The had one child born Oct 12, 1908. in Harrison Arkansas. I know nothing of his parents. Theydied in a flu Epidemic leaving four children: 1. John Case POWELL 2. Georgia POWELL 3. Nellie POWELL 4. Harriet (Hattie)POWELL John Case POWELL Met Lula BRADSHAW in Arkansas. He and his sister Georgia Powell, had run off form their aunts home in Chicago, IL. when they were about 14 and 12 years old. They went to ARKANSAS. I do not know where the family lived before their Parants died of the Flu in a Flu Epidemic. But, why would they flee to Arkansas. I know that some of the Kentucky POWELL'S had left Ky, and moved to arkansas. ??? John Casse POWELL and his sister when still children worked at anything that they could find to do, to house, cloth, and feed themselves. When about 12 years Old a young Railroad Engineer, Lee CLARK, found Georgia Powell, and took her home to his mother and siad, Here, Mom, is the daughter that you have always wanted. Then when she grew up, he married her. She was then Gerogia POWELL Clark. and, John Married my Grandmother Lula BRADSHAW. And, they had my mother Casey Mildred, b. 10-12-1908, in Harrison Ar. Three months before my mother was born, My Grandfather, John Case POWELL was shot by two escaped convicts, while on their way to town to take my Grandmother LULA to the Dr. as she had not been feeling well for there days. I have started researching my Powell Family. I was looking in a box of pictures that My Grandmother LULA left me. And, there I found a picture of Sarah POWELL, on the back of that PICTURE it said: AUNT Sarah POWELL Hill, sister to UNCLE Jim POWELL. So, I think that I am looking for a POWELL Family that has a son by the name of James (Jim) POWLL and a daughter by the name of Sarah Powell, that married a mr. Hill. Sarah has written on the back of that Picture. If you ever want to see me fast, Just look at this Picture. Then I would assume, that she gave it to them after their mother and father died in a Flu epidemic in the 1800's And that it ment enough to John Case Powell, that he kept it all of his life. He his wife and daughter kept it after his death. (Now it is my only Clue John Case and his sisters were so small when their parents died, that they did not know who their parents were, Or so small, that in the greef of loosing their parents they forgot. I do know that the POWELL Children of this family went through an ordeal. My Grandfather John Case Powell was IRISH.
