I'm really looking forward to the luncheon get-together on Christmas Eve. This is a time of mixed emotions with my job @ Emerson ending (unexpectedly) December 31st. Trying to figure out what to do after "Emerson", preparing for the Christmas Holiday with family and friends, having surgery in mid-November, and moving daughter and four grandkids into my home have kept me in a whirlwind (maybe a little depressed?). I really need that boost of friendship and, maybe, a drink! I truly hope all is well with everyone of you, that you have a fantastic Christmas Holiday season and a wonderful New Year. | Comments: | I just wanted to say a few words about Rick Cooper and Rick Gieselman. They were both extremely nice( and that means alot to me),funny,humble and terrific atheletes. Although Rick Cooper didn't care much for "organized" sports, he was "hell on wheels at "sandlot" sports! Football,baseball,it didn't matter, he was powerful and awesome. I always had to scratch my head in amazement when he would come up to me and tell me how good I was at sports. Pound for pound he was twice as strong and twice as fast. The frequent encouragement that came from Rick, who I looked up to, was such an inspiration to me. Sadly,as in most cases,I lost touch with him and I wish that I could play football with him again. I hope there's a "sandlot in heaven. "Coop",we miss ya! Rick Gieselman was one of my best friends. He was kind to everybody and I think, liked by everybody. He was a master of obscure facts. He knew every song ever written, every t.v. show ever produced and every movie!( this is absolutely true, ask anyone who knew him well) However, on the football field,he was like a ferocious shark! In fact, the first time I saw him cut a runner down at the ankles, I, literally,cringed! Rick didn't like praise and avoided it like the plague, which made him one of my favorite teammates. After high school and a stint in the army for me, we were still best of friends. Rick, Ron Stevens,John Cherry and me would drive over to Il. to a "club" where for two dollars you could listen to a live band and drink 3.2 beer all evening. We had a blast, even though we never even got a "buzz" from that"rotgut" beer. That's all I can say right now or it's gonna be too wet to plow. Both of these Ricks taught me what humility and true friendship is all about. I hope,before I approach the Pearly Gates I can be just one half the MEN they were.Yes,all of this is true and I believe most of you already knew that. Danny Maness |

Thanks for putting up the pictures Charlyn. Jean asked if we received enough $'s back to cover expenses. Yes we did! Charlyn and I have refunded ourselves and the checking account is now closed. Thank you to all that ponyed up extra. We'll have to start a-new for the 45th. I have talked and emailed to some folks who helped plan and attend. They are in hibernation recouping, don't think they are ready to start planning the 45th just yet. If anyone wants to join in, just let us know. Had lunch with Kathy Murray Cunningham this past Monday. She was very sorry that she missed being with you all. Rx Systems, her employer, was at year end closing and its' her job to do it. Checked in with a couple of other re-newed friendships and even net-worked the possiblility of a career change through Vickie Bumpas Martin. Here's aquestion. How did ugly guys like Steve Ellington, Bill Armstrong, Tim Bates and other ugly guys wind up with such gorgeous women? And how come all the women look better then the guys. While standing with Mike Nolan, Tim Bates, Wayne Meyer and Chalyn; I realized I have know them all for 53 years, or since Kendergarten. How amazing to have friendships that go back that far and have lasted for a lifetime. Thanks all for your continuing support. Yes Andee was beautiful and hadn't changed a bit since high school. Her or Angie. Angie did say they (her and Elmer) will be at the reunion. Dan will also be at the reunion. It was strange at the wake last night because I kept watching this lady and she looked so much like Andee that you would think they were family.
