My wife and I were both born in the Salyersville area and spent most of our lives in Michigan. We are now retired and travel fulltime. We spend our summers in Michigan and our winters in the South, Florida or Texas. We think that the City of Salyersville Community should build a nice RV Park for the RV'er to stay at so that we can visit Salyersville. I have talked to many people who have RV's and would love to have a place to park their RV in Salyersville. I understand there is Jenny Wiley and Paintsville Lake, but both of these are too far from Salyersville. A nice RV Park would have easy access to the Mountain Parkway and and be in or very near Salyersville. It would have full hook-ups, Electric, Water and Sewer. A park like this would really be a nice boost to the Salyersville Tourist Trade. Could you pass this email along to the proper people or organization for their consideration? | Comments: | Hi Paula: Intrigued with family history. My father was born Wilmer George Cassel however, when he was 7 days old his mother died. He was adopted by his mother's brother (Alonzo) and wife (Clara) Hall. This changed my father's name to Wilmer Cassel Hall, a condition to the adoption that his name Cassel remain in his name. My father had one brother (Raymond Hall Cassel). At the age of 16 my father was told he was adopted and that his Uncle Bill(William Henry Cassel) and cousin Ray (Raymond Hall Cassel) were really his father and brother.

I live in Laurens Cty, SC, down near Newberry, SC so noticed you had some info on someone looking for Jesse Newton Pitts who was Clerk of Court in Louisiana in 1870, but perhaps he has found his info by now. My great grandfather was Jesse Newton Pitts, born 31 Dec 1845 in Alabama, d. 14 Mar 1883 in Rayville, Louisiana. He was the son of Rev. John C. Pitts, b. 7 Nov 1821, d. 1864 in Winnsboro, Louisiana. John C. was the son of Jesse Pitts, b. abt 1781 in Newbury District, South Carolina. This is where the trail stops. I notice your tree includes a Jesse Pitts born to Andrew and Martha about 1761. Andrew's Jesse is not close enough to my Jesse, but he might be my Jesse's father. If you happen to have any information that can point me in the right direction, I am desperate to hear it. It contained a photo of Judge Holloway Power(s) which inspired me to google the Powers family of Magoffin County. That's how I found your website. My brother is Ronald Burns Powers son of Burns Cameron Powers (married June Eileen Moses) son of David Power (married Edna Taylor Fairchild). My father's siblings were Joseph Power (don't know his middle name) and Thelma Etta Power (married Peter DeGraff). We were told that the "S" was added to my father's name when he was born because his father had started going by Powers. Who knows. There are so many of us it's hard to keep track. :) Thanks for all the info. BTW my brother has grave marker photos from Lakeville. I'll get copies if you need them

My Mother is ; Hazel Marie Powers ( who was married at one time to Warnie Arnett) her parents were Patrick Powers and Ida Patrick Patrick was the son of Samuel Huston Powers Ida was the daughter of Dudley and Anna Penix Powers. It seem it's not recorded anywhere that Hazel Powers was the wife of Warnie Arnett-Gus Connelley-Richard Hampton or Joseph King. All of these men are from Magoffin County Kentucky , I'd love to find some proof of marriages, so that my half/siblings will be included in there lines! Great site. Little confusing about how to join, register is not there, I am over 13, but not 13 exactly. My great grandparents died about 1880 in Montgomery county Texas. They left two orghan boys Jessie and Wiley Pitts to be raised by the Vick family when two and four years old. | Comments: | For years I have been trying to locate the whereabouts of a family that had a great and memorable influence on who I am today. They were the Bedford and Mary Lou Brown family. Some of their children's names were: Maureen, the oldest daughter and Cody a son. There were other children, but I have forgotten their names.
Bedford is a master guitar craftsman (envied by Martin Co.)and Mary Lou is a "salt of the earth" singer and Eastern Kentucky style Guitar musician! Anyone with knowledge of their address or location, please contact either me by e-mail or contact them for me. I knew them in 1968-69, when they lived in Valley Center, California. My former wife "Toni" introduced me to them. They were amoung other things, raising minks, and generally very self sufficient. But most of all and most memorable, they always had good food to share, and music was as much a part of their lives as speaking is to most.
