Comments:thank for the site, I was member of 656squadron. 1914 flight in MALAYA 1948, AND PAINTING PICTURE OF OUR OPERATIONS FROM MALLCCA, i needed a photograph of wireless set 22 to complete a scene of our tents with a auster flying (AOP FLIGHT) over the site with a jeep water carrier and the set 22 in the fore groung and the usual palm tree etc.

My age is such that I started radio with ex government radio equipment such as 18 set a BC348 and a 1355 Gee receiver which became part of a TV set! Has anyone come across a type 78 RAF short wave converter? It covered 2.4 to 13 MHz in 2 rnges and tuned with a rotary inductor with a separately tuned preselector. I am ex R.A.F. and joined in as a boy 1952 as a Ground
Wireless Mechanic. Went on to flying as a Air Electronics
Operator in 1954, and retired in 1975.

May I query the identity of the item shown as an R1475. I
trained on the R1475 in 1952/53, and this appears to be
totally different to the one I am familiar with. Look

Comments:Operated Angry 26 D's and A's in the early 60's at Panzer
Kasserne just outside of Boeblingen, Germany. Was a member
of the 97Th Signal Battalion which was finally disbanded
after 40 years of communicating [1991]. I'm now a member of
the "97Th Signal Battalion Association" an association of X
