NONE OF US COULD BREATH. I HAD TO CARRY MY LITTLE DOG. THE NEXT DAY WE LEFT BECAUSE WE WERE ALL SICK. MY LITTLE DOG APPEARED TO DEVELOPE ALLERGIES. THE VET TOLD ME TO GIVE HER BENADRYL. SEPT 12TH 2009 I HAD TO PUT HER TO SLEEP. SHE WAS BLIND AND COULD NOT BREATH. HER BOWEL MOVEMENTS WERE ALSO FILLED WITH BLOOD. ALL OF HER TESTS SHOWED SHE DID NOT HAVE AN INFECTION. HER LIVER SHOWED DAMAGE. BEFORE YESTERDAY WHEN A NEIGHBOR TOLD US ABOUT THE ALGAE I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS. AT LEAST NOW I HAVE CLOSURE AS TO WHY MY LITTLE HEALTHY DOG GOT SO SICK AND DIED. THE PLACE SHE LOVED THE MOST KILLED HER.

I gave a presentation to the Monroe Town and I spoke with a member of your association after the meeting. I am hoping to find contact information for the Board in my poking around today. I have a very important safety message that I would like to get to your members regarding how they can prepare their homes for wildfire.

Our two lakes, Tainter and Menomin in Dunn County, also have the distinction of being named to the DNR's list of toxic blue-green algae waters. Members of our Board would like to meet with members of your Board and those of the "Toxic 200" to begin discussions of uniting for a stronger voice in Madison. I will email some information on our status with cyanobacteria in this lake and the efforts we have been making. DNR officials suggest we instigate a groundswell of public support from Lake Pepin to Winnebago (100,000+ surface acres of impaired water) to help force legislation to improve ag techniques and reduce phosphorous loads. Senate Bill 197 to eliminate phosphorous in lawn fertilizers was voted thru senate this week. We need to join forces to continue the drive to improve water clarity and reduce public health risks.

What is being done? DO you think the papermills are guilty? How is the water quality above the Nekosa Dam? Is this just a problem from run off of fertilizers, etc. and farming?

With all the new development on Petenwell, home owners are going to spread the word that this is not a good lake unless something can be done.

There has been a surge of crime on the west side of Petenwell on Hall's Point. I am one of the victims.

I have only owned my property for two years but I am questioning my decision to buy property in such a crime ridden area.

The taxes (unfair to Illinois residents) and algae are almost unbearable and now I have local scum bags breaking into my and my neighbors properties. These local scum bags have no respect for other people's property and need to be punished. The local Sheriff has done little to stop this activity and I believe if it continues, people from Illinois will go somewhere else and locals can pay their own school taxes.

We live in Dane County and, Dane Counties lakes have all but been destroyed by algae and run-off. I would hate to see that happen in Adams County.
Our other concern is that as we drive around Adams County, there seems to be so much junk scattered around on various properties. Is there any type of county-wide beautification organization?

Comments:Good Morning, I have finally found a group that maybe I could get some information from. We are from Illinois and we are looking for a new vacation home. We are a large family and will be either building and or buying a new home preferbly in Adams County. We are an active familiy and love what is going with the ATV actvities. While looking at properties to either buy or build not one person talked about the quality of the water on Pentewell where we would like to be. I have a son that is recovering from Cancer he is 14 years old and I we must at all cost keep him safe. We also want to eat the fish from the lake we live on. I am told that either is a good situation on Pentenwell. So we are looking at Roch-A-Cr, Sherwood, Camelot and Aerohead. Can you tell me more about Pentenwell. We found a beautifull home on Pentenwell we would like to buy but again we can't take any chances with our Son. Please help

Sincerely,

My name is Jesse Criz. My family has purchased land on Petenwell Lake and we are in the process of considering building a home. We have heard there is an algae issue with the lake which is severe enough to prevent typical water recreation (i.e., swimming, boating, water skiing). I reviewed your letter of July 27, 2004 and certain of the issue therein were concerning. Could someone send me an email updating the status of the lake and the algae issue. Thank you in advance for you assistance.

Comments:Hello,

I am very interested in your organization. We are landowners in Adams County and the land adjoining our property is owned by the Wisconsin River Power Company. They are proposing that the land be rezoned from conservation to residential/recreational. Right now there is a great trail on it that is used by many people. There are also many wetlands and a wide variety of trees.

My family has owned this property on Chicago Avenue for over 150 years. The property that the power company owns was sold to them by my grandfather.

Do you have any advice for me and my family? Are there any laws that can protect this land from development? Right now it can be enjoyed by everybody.

Any direction would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,

Beth Jones

I'm am curious how Sen. Feingold and other responded to your letters of last summer.

Does the WI River power co have a plan for the releasing properties over the next 5-15 yrs? The realtor and other Petenwell realty websites indicate that no further properties will be released. Then your website indicates that 5-10,000 properties could be built.

I would appreciate any reply and thank you for your consideration.
