Made us feel warm and fuzzy to see our old friends last night at the Tongue and Groove. And we get to do it all over again tonight. Tomorrow, it’s off to meet up with Andrew Neville and the Poor Choices, who are just starting their Western swing, for a show together at the Auditorium Hotel in Nanton (we’re loving the small towns this tour). Speaking of small towns, this is as good a time as any to give a shout out to everyone we’ve worked with. Without exception, the staff and sound engineers have been warm and hospitable, and have made things that much more pleasant for us as we bring our little circus-in-a-van from town to town. Thank you. To recap since the last time we talked: Last Wednesday we played the bar formerly known as Packer’s Place in Golden, our only B.C. stop. Before the smoke had cleared the stage from the third set, we were on the road and headed for the CITY-TV studios in Calgary in time for their breakfast show. “Jason, do you ever wake up and say, ‘Chris, I’ve got the blues?’” “Yeah, this morning when I woke up in the van in your parking lot twenty minutes ago.” …eight a.m. and full-throttle Perpetration is streaming live into nooks, kitchenettes and crannies alike all across the capacious Calgary area. By nine, we were back in the van and off to the CanHo for an honest day’s sleep before gig time. That night, none other than the man who introduced the Perpetrators to blues music, Pat Nowicki, was in attendance with his lovely wife, Tracy, and another almost mythical figure in Perp lore - Murdoch Mackay 1991 class president and current Canmore resident, Shane Jonker. After a nighttime-type sleep, it was back to Calgary. Thanks to everybody who made it to the Red Onion shows, including a surprise carload of Winnipeggers - Josco, JoMills and Billy "Let 'er Buck" Merritt - who showed up to celebrate Rick “just a guy” Premachuck's big 5-0 (while I’m name dropping, here’s another one: Scott Siemens). The party carried over to Black Diamond where more good times were had by all. The next coupla days were spent laying low in the Diamond, spending quiet-ish time with friends and giving Rick and Ginette’s coffee maker a good workout. Then, about as rested up as we were gonna get, it was back into the mountains for a show at Rum Runners in Coleman, AB in the Crowsnest Pass… definitely somewhere I’d like to spend more time. Lovely scenery, nice folks and pretty much off the beaten path (so far). And that brings us back here to the Bridge, with a week to go until our CD Release weekend extravaganza begins at the Times Change(d).
