The Allsos are an English family and the name is very uncommon. Considerably less than 1000 have been found from 1650 to the present day and it was not previously known that this family name was to be found in the U.S. Your site shows that Martha Allso and her daughter, Lydia Allso were married to Absalom Lott and Joshua Lott respectively, in North Carolna during the 1700's. | Comments: | I was excited to see a photo page developing. I just received some old photos that were from my grandfather's house. I do not know all the people. After the holidays, I will have time to submit them. The possible families are Redds', Kents' , Taylors' (G.B.), Sarah Elizabeth Taylor, Cantrell, G. Estis Kent and several family reunions of the Redds' from Corrigan and Camp Ruby, also a group school photo from Darby, and some individual non- family students. I still correspond with the contacts made through this site.

Thanks so much to Sally Cannon for her e-mail. It looks like she lined up more than half my burch relatives in one stroke. I wish I could help but I'm way out here in Oregon. I'll definately upload my data once I've done some documentation. Plus I have a cousin I'm trying to find who apparently has the Burch Family Bible. I wish the other 3 sides were so easy. | Comments: | How interesting it is to read about Polk County! I live in Hurst TX, and would like to learn of my family history. My dad's father was Harrison Smith who married Abbie Lucas in Stephenville TX Erath County around 1887-88. They separated before my Dad was born, and no one knew what became of my grandfather. I have narrowed it down to the Harrison Smith who lived in Corrigan TX. 75939 My Dad was born on 9-15-1900. He joined the Army when he as only 15 yrs. old and went on to spend 30 years serving our country, 15 yrs were spent in Honolulu HA, then went to Germany during WWII and the rest in the states. He died in 1961 at 61 years of age. I was very proud of him and loved him very much although he was a little obstinate about finding his dad. I am now 68 yrs old and would love to know if I have any kin that would be interested in just talking and learning about each other. I feel as if we have missed a lot of wonderful conversations and visits. If there is anyone who believes they belong to the same Harrison Smith that I do, I would love to hear from you. The Harrison Smith that I think I belong to died in Sept.1983 in Corrigan, TX. His social security # was 457-32-9248. He was born on Apr. 1, 1879. Thanks for your time! He left Conecuh County (now Escambia County, Alabama)about 1848 as he was living in Polk County for the 1850 census. His son, William Lee McCormick stayed in Alabama with his wife Hariett Adams McCormick until 1883 when he and his family also moved to Texas. Hariett (my gr gr grandmother)died in 1884 or 1885 in Hardin County, Texas. William Lee came to Texas to work for the mill in Village Mills. |
