| Comments: | Hi...I had relatives moving from Norway to Minnesota and then to north dakota and Powers Lake. It was my great great grandfather Jacob Pedersen and his sons Axel and Martin Jacobsen. The sons both had a lot of children, and may be some of them is still alive, I don`t know I`m afraid. If anyone know something about these families I will be very happy to hear from you.
I hope to go to Powers Lake one day to see where they found a place to settle down. My great grandfather was the only one left in the old country, I suppose it must have been strange for him. But he was the oldest, and supposed to run the old farm. That is how it is... Mona |

Population 408......i have 408 people living on the 3 streets surrounding me! I envy your space! Maybe someday someone in your town can email me just put power lakes in your subject so i will know where its coming from please.
have also looked up several other towns from the article, Hanks, Havelock and epping to name a few...a rough life in some of those towns but still what a way to live good luck to you all |

My father was Bill Craig and my mom Ann. It was a blessing to grow up in a great place like Powers Lake. I retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years and am now a Deputy Sheriff in Kendall Co. IL. I miss the town and the people of Powers Lake. Hope to see you all in 2009. |

| Comments: | I received the letter from the centennial committee today regarding the planned celebration in 2009. I am really looking forward to it, and plan to attend together with my wife Connie, and hopefully our daughter Angie. I live in Dayton, Ohio, the birthplace of aviation, home of the Wright brothers, etc., and have lived at my current address since 1989 when I was on the last assignment of my 20 year Air Force career at Wright-Patterson AFB (I retired from the Air Force in 1993). However, I am not retired- I have worked as a financial analyst for Montgomery County for the last 13 years. My wife Connie retired last May after 30 years as an elementary school teacher, most of that time in Ohio. She is still a substitute teacher for our local school system when they need her. Our daughter Angela is a senior at the University of Dayton majoring in Chemical Engineering and she plans to go on to graduate school to major in Biomedical Engineering. We hope she can join us in Powers Lake next summer as she has not yet seen where her dad grew up. The last time I was in Powers Lake was when my mom passed away in 1993, so I am really looking forward to this! Meanwhile, if anyone reading this happens to travel to the Ohio area, please feel free to stop in for a visit. My phone number is 937-890-0565.

| Comments: | I was born in PL 1950 Doc Goodwin delivered me. Parents were Corral ( Socky ) and Phyliss Jane (Halmrast) Breding. Grandpa was Conrad (Ole Olsen) Breding grandma was Lottie. She died in a auto accident going to a dance. She was riding in the back of an old car with a rumble seat and her neck was snaped. Children left were Shorty , Spex, Eula (Suzie) Corral (Socky) and Vern (Butts).
I'm very interested in writting to any of the Bredings that would like to meet. I have talked with Bredings Uncle Vern, Aunt Betty, Cousins Steve and Bobby Bredings. My family lived in Lignite until I was 5 years old and then we moved to Washburn. I currently live in San Francisco and my 2 girls have never been to North Dakota - child abuse, I know! | Comments: | I lived in Flaxton in 1945-1946 and enjoyed my short time in Burke County when I was in the upper elementary grades. I also visited Flaxton and Columbus last August, finding those towns shadows of their former selves. I still like Burke County.

We are looking toward coming this spring sometime via train and rental car from Williston. We would like to find accomodations for a couple of nights around town somewhere, possibly a B&B. Power Lake holds many good memories for me as a kid visiting my Grandparents, Neal and Margret Van Berkom, each summer. Several summers I worked for the Nickols, Aloyce and Ray. They were always so kind and good to me. I was fortunate to be able to vist with Ray, Myrtle, and Robert during the 2005 VB Reunion. I was certainly saddened by Ray's death this past year.
