I am in possession of the book Bricks without Straw by Albion Tourgee pub 1880. This copy is signed multiple times by a John G Clark of Lancaster, Wis. The first date is October 1881. | Comments: | I see that you have Watkins listed from Pomfret, Vermont. My ggggrandfather, Ransel Watkins was from there and any information on the Watkins family from that area would be appreciated. Ransel died in Allegan County, Michigan around 1855. His wife was Hannah Downer Hunt Watkins.

What a great site! I am a WATKINS descendant also. My 2x Ggrandparents were: ELEY AZER MARTIN (born 1838 IL; died 1897) & LUCRETIA (WATKINS) MARTIN (born ca: 1845 Wayne Co, IL; died 1884 Wayne Co, IL). (ELEY AZER son of ABRAHAM & MARY JANE ("POLLY") (HEADY) MARTIN of Wayne/White Counties, IL.) LUCRETIA (WATKINS) MARTIN was the daughter of WILLIAM & ELIZABETH ANN (MURPHY) WATKINS. WILLIAM WATKINS (above) was the son of WILLIAM & MARY (ATTERBERRY) WATKINS who were married in Hardin Co, KY in 1805. The "farthest back" WATKINS ancestor I have been able to positively prove to date is SAMUEL WATKINS, a REV WAR soldier from MD. if memory serves me correctly; I believe he married a JONES.
