You left so many WONDERUL memories for everyone. I remember you were so excited when you were going to be one of your schools AMBASSADORS, this was the BIG trip, your mom was sad that you were going so far away, but you told her everything was going to be just fine, her baby girl was than growing up, becoming independent. Louise, I have a daughter Reanna she's 5, she says that she played with you in heaven. Before she was chosen to become our daughter she was in heaven with all her greatgrandmothers and she remembers you. A few months ago I came upon your mom's memory pages of you and I cried, Reanna asked what was wrong and I told her that this picture was her cousin Louise and that here was a picture of your mom & dad, but she insisted on knowing why I had tears in my eyes. I had to tell her how much she was missed especially by our cousin Rosemary (your mom), Reanna continued to say that Louise her ANGEL cousin is fine and that her greatgrandma's take care of all kids especially her cousin Louise. | Comments: | 11 years ago while in the freezing winter mountains of Korea my platoon sergeant got word to me that I needed to head back to camp and see the luitenant. Once I made it back I located him and asked what was up! He replied, "There has been a death in the family and your presents back in the states was requested." My first thoughts were of my Grandmother. Something I was more prepared to deal with. (as if a death in the family was something we could deal with) Nothing in training or combat could have prepared me for the word I was about to receive. my luitenant began to read the red cross message to me. It read; "Your Mother Antonia Lievanos and Aunt Rosemary Torres request your presents in the United States for the death of your cousin Louise, who was like a sister to him". I was very shocked! I didn't want to believe him! This can't be possible! As I broke down in tears. He hands me the message and I could barely make out Louise's name through all the tears. With out any time wasted the Battalion commander had already approved emergency leave orders and I was on the first flight out of Korea. I had a lay over in Japan and things weren't looking good. No major flights going out of Japan due to a storm. I had to check into a hotel for the night. All I did was cry into the morning, thinking I could possibly miss the funeral. The next morning I was given word that a military transport fight was about to leave headed for Travis Airforce Base in Oakland. I took it. Once in Travis I needed to take a Cab to Oakland International Airport and book a flight to Onterio. Finaly four days later I landed in Onterio and met with my Mom, the Eve before the funeral. My heart aches for you and your beautiful family. I loved the poems, the graphics, the pictures of Louise, all so very touching and heartwarming. Today I went to my son Glen's for dinner and we ate on David's kitchen table (his brother took it when he died) and later my son brought me out a wrung of a chair and told me it was from the rocking chair (David loved to rock) that David rocked in all the time, Glen had saved it as a momento. You see when Davey called every day he would be sitting in that rocker going 260 miles an hour and it squeaked so loud that's all you could hear. Oh the memories, I am thankful for the memories but my mind understands the reasoning but my heart does not. They should be hear with us it cries as I'm sure yours did today too. But God in His goodness chose our dear ones for a mission only He knows. But at one of your poems says, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will be together again. His brother now 19 struggles with the loss of his best friend, his constant companion, his buddy only 2 years younger than him. And I struggle with the loss of a son who was so close to me. She was taking a friend home after work, she had never been on that road before ( and it was in the country) after she dropped him off and started home she missed a stop sign and hit a truck and dlipped her car and was thrown out.
