information was given. I would like to become a nurse, and I am interested in the nursing program at LaGuardia Community College. I would like a second chance to complete my degree, and get my grades back on track. I originally attended another cuny college and started out very well, and then my grades dropped to a gpa of 2.5. I currently work in a doctor's office and I have been trying to get a flexible job to go back to school, and did not have a chance to do so. Any advise about getting into the nursing program is greatly appreciated. I currently have 23 credits, have 2 of the pre-nursing classes. What times are the classes given, and have passed the cuny assessment test. Thank you. |

I currently a student a Laguardia Community College and have applied for candidacy for the fall 2001 semester. I currently work in the operating room as a surgical technician at Beth Israel Medical Center in NY. I hope I am selected as a candidate so I can start my nursing career. I've wanted to become a nurse since I was a little girl. I know nursing isn't an easy job, and I understand the demanding schedual nursing school can take on a persons lifestyle. But, working in the O.R. has shown me how much of a need their is for people who truly care about helping people when they are ill or in need for surgery. nursing program, which enables me to be more supportive. We need instructors who have the same philosophy as you Pat. I just passed the NCLEX in Feb. I have had many encouraging instructors that made me feel I am doing a great job...& they got me through nursing school along with my determination. However, there were a few & only a few, who made my stomach turn every time I went to clinical....They made us so nervous...Just waiting & wanting you to make a mistake ( so it seemed).. Even the hardiest & the most obnoxious instructors helped me gain confidence. However, my best instructors were the ones that had PATIENCE...We were only beginners. I volunteered to do everything even though I didn't know how...I wanted to learn. I miss the School days. I now tutor new students & I love it. I also work full time for a GYN doc & love it. I intended to spend about ten minutes reading my e-mail before sitting down to working on my lectures for the upcoming semester. Well, it is now 2 1/2 hours and I am still at the computer. I spent over 1 1/2 hours going through LaGuardia's information that you sent. It certainly is a lot of work and quite time consuming. I was very impressed with Marie and Marcia Martin's photos. The last pinning ceremony was also impressive. I wish the pictures were a little less blurred. Thanks. |
