| Comments: I did not actually graduate in 1983. This would have been the year I would have graduated had I not left midway through my junior year. Many people may know me as "stickman". It took me years to finally gain some weight and shed the "stickman" nickname.
I am looking for information on Steve Robinson of the class of 1982. Has anybody heard from him? Also, if anybody has heard from Greg "Tate" Chappel or Terry Becnel tell them that "stickman" is still waiting on an apology for the punch they threw at me in the locker room after football practice. | Comments: I didn't even know that this site existed. Thanks D.B.!!! I haven't really kept in touch with many people. ROA closed down my sophomore year. I went there from 7th grade till then. I was on the flag team when Tonya Irwin was Captain, and Pantherettes my Freshman-Sophomore year, Linda Steele was Captain then. The thing that I remember the most were all of those Pantherette practices in the gym, and dancing at all of those half time shows for basketball. I remember when Eddie Sisk got into a big fight with some Belle Chasse boys in the parking lot when we played them in basketball. Police were called out and people were arrested. Also, the Fisher football game in Lafitte when the football teams and fans went running in the middle of the field and there was a big riot. That is why there is fence put around the field down there. All the Buras games that we were not allowed to go to because of all of the fighting. Crazy!!! Like D.B. said. . ."Who took the money?" Heard that Mrs. Wertz, aka Mrs. Vogt? is now principal of Belle Chasse. Whatever happened to Mrs. Maddison? My cousin Michael Clement graduated from there in '87 and I thought that I was going to, to.
I went to a small school in Terrytown called Word of Life with Danielle Euper, George Richard, Chad Edison, and whoever else went there. I have only kept in touch with Chad. Known him since the 7th grade. And of course D.B., whom if anyone remembers. . . he was my first and biggest crush of jr. high and high school. hehe. I also ran into Julie Butler not to long ago. I still live in Algiers, and in Law School at Loyola. I have a 5 year old girl named Tayler whom is my whole life. Never married. Still waiting for Mr. Right!!! | Comments: I am in business for myself and love being my own boss. Although I think I work harder than if I worked for someone else. I have 2 great boys Devin 17 and a senior, and Drew 12. I am married to Shayne Bychurch for the last 4 years and am happier than I have ever been. It was great browsing through all the memories of everyone from ROA. I remember the days of skipping school with Lori Blomburg, leaving during bookeeping to get the teachers lunch, and keg parties after the football games, win or lose, we knew how to party. I pass the old school often now since Shayne and I are building a new house in Jesuit Bend. I never thought I'd travel that road daily again. The class of 81 had a reunion in July of 2001. We had a great time with a good turn out, more than half the class. Look forward to hearing from some old friends. | |

(ok, 9 years. lol) And it took me another 9 years to finish school while I worked for a private investigation company. This summer has been chaos. I graduated from Tulane UC, got married, and started a new job. I’m now an Intelligence Analyst for Gulf Coast HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area), a joint-task force of state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies.

I have worked in the corporate planning areas for most of my career and I'm now at a small bank in San Antonio loving it. I say for a real reunion, we go over the levee with a couple of kegs and start a bonfire. A lot of good memories started out with a simple plan like that. After ROA (k-12), I went on to get a degree in Political Science at Tulane in 1987, then became a Customs Broker and work in the family business. I have been married to Eeb for 12 years and we have 2 sons, Cos (7) and Serguis (4). One of the things I miss about highschool was whipping Marilyn and Cheryl at connect 4 games in study hall. These days my hobbies include Road Racing Corvettes in the SCCA, traveling to Canada to hunt, and riding in the Krewe of Bacchus. River Oaks will always hold some of my fondest memories. When I recently passed by it with my family, I was very upset at how dilapidated the buildings were. I will always remember how nice the school was when we attended.

I came across this awesome web page after attempting a search for Mrs. Norma Bean. Although, I did not graduate from ROA, I made some wonderful friends in my short time there. I hope to get in touch with some of them that I have been fortunate to locate on this site. I would have graduated in 1979 had I continued at ROA. My brother, Donnie Garrett did, however, graduate from ROA and I can't wait to tell him about this site. Some of my fondest memories are my days at ROA and I hope to hear from some of my dear friends. I'm not a graduate of ROA but it sure was home to me. I went to River Oaks throught 7th grade--1985. The school began to change an my Mom took me out. It was disappointing to me to leave, but I have great memories. My Uncle, Ignatius Koenig,graudated from ROA in 1975. He played in the Band and I went to football games when I was little. My Mom is 5yrs older than her brother and she remembers when she took 15 band members home in a Rambler. If anyone can remember what kind of car that is!!! HAHA My Mom still has the old 8mm movie film--no sound of parades in the halls, playing under the old Oak trees, and Football players at a Christmas program as aligators!! Well, if you heard the rumor, it is true. Mrs. Eitel's daughter married Ross Hatty. I have the ROA reunion and Debbie to thank for that. I wasn't going to go to the reunion and Debbie talked me into it so I went and that's where Ross and I "re-met." The rest, as they say, is history. We got married nine months later, and I moved to Las Vegas to be with Ross. We've been married 5 1/2 years, and we now have a beautiful 15 month old son together, Hank. He is just like his father so I have my work cut out for me. I would be remiss in not mentioning that I also have an incredible step-son, Taylor Hatty, who is 11 years old. I came on the scene when he was five, and we have a wonderful relationship. So, as I say, I got two for the price of one. I work for the County as a legal secretary and the Family Court Webmaster. Ross is still massaging and doing wonderfully. He has managed to build himself a thriving business since he moved here right after high school. We go home to New Orleans quite often. In fact, we just came back from getting Hank baptized there. I don't miss the humidity, but I do miss the food. To those of you who still live in New Orleans, DO NOT TAKE THE FOOD FOR GRANTED!! I have been in Atlanta, Ga for 15 years doing Computer Programming/Analyst work for AT&T. I am the proud father of twin 3 1/2 year olds. We have a son, Nicholas, and a daughter, Noel. Jill and I love to travel and have traveled to the following countries: Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, Venezuella, Rio de Janerio Brazil, Hong Kong, Bali Indonesia, Bangkok Thailand, Germany, Holland, Bahamas, Roatan Hondorus, Cozumel Mexico, and of course to the Redneck Riviera, the Gulf Coast of Florida! didn't comit and I was in a mental hospital for a few years but I told them I went to R.O.A. and they just let me leave, go figure. Now the truth, I went to De la Salle for my last year of "high" school. Then on to NSU in Thibodaux for a year, then on to University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where I got a B.S. in Business. I finally hit puberty at the nice age of 21 and put on some pounds and played Rugby for Bama for 3 years. After graduation I moved back down to New Orleans and took a position with my uncle's oil company in Gretna. It's pretty stress free and lots of good people (I have to say that in case any of these dorks read this). I started my own computer consulting business for a while but had to close shop. I am engaged to a young woman named Jennifer Groff (from Conn.) for a yankee she is pretty cool. After graduation, I went to UNO and graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1992, went to work in Conneticut for Hughes Danbury Optical Systems on the Chandra (X-Ray) Telescope project..got laid off (That sucked) in 1994. Traveled back down to New Orleans..joined the Air Force, went to officer candidate school (That sucked), and I am with the Louisiana Air Guard (full time) as the Deputy Base Civil Engineer. Tech and got a degree in Accounting (what WAS I thinking!); anyway, I woke up and realized I was more of a people person, so 5 years later I got my Master's in Speech Pathology and am working on my Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, where I am also on faculty in the medical school at the office of continuing medical education. GayLynn - you and I lived in Fort Worth for years and I never knew! I don't know if you remember me from Pantherettes ("Pantherettes up!...Pantherettes down!...")Anyway, I tell lots of stories about ROA to people.
