| Comments: | i'm so glad to have stumbled across this site! i thought since the school was kaput, there was no way we'd all hook up again. yo angelo! glad to know there's still a lima bean cuttin' up down the road! good to see eddie brink's name as well! what happened to everybody? can't believe it's been so long. i'm up for a get together if we could round up all the troops. i live in austin now and write and illustrate children's books and other nutty stuff. i hobble around the basketball court at the y pretty regularly and coach my twins' (max and emma- 9) soccer team, even thoough i have no clue how to play soccer. i've avoided jail for the most part and only smoke crack occasionally, been married since '93 to a surprisingly nice woman, and my kids show no signs of mutations so far. i miss you all, and the old days and the music and all that 70's wierdness, and the sports, and even both coach gravolets to whom i apologize for being such a pain in the butt. i'd love to hear from anyone. |

I have been married for 20 year now, have 2 children, a daughter, Stacie, 18 and a son Angelo, III 17. Stacie will be going to SLU (Southeastern Louisiana University) in August and Angelo will be a junior at Belle Chasse High School this August. I married Theresa Johnson, Randy and Martin sister. We currently live in Port Sulphur at our camp. I work for Plaquemines Parish Government. My wife and children pass by the ROA everyday on the way to work and school. It is sad to see the school of black and gold gone forever. Wish our children could have gone there. Well, it is getting late, so bye for now. |

We now are in a small town, which is nice for the kids. Its like being in 1950, with all its good and bad. After living by Houston, Dallas & Boston, this is nice. I think of the kids of ROA, and wounder if they ever think of me. I was in such a rush to leave town after graduation,I forgot the feelings of friends. I guess I thought they would always be there waiting. I would love to hear from any of you. I miss the fun we had in the BAND. I hope my kids enjoy their school days as much.

| Comments: | life is just not as exciting as when we were young. i got the mid life crisis and went to the kentucky derby, won a ton of money of giacomo! then turned around and lost it all in the belmont on gaicomo! yeah but life is good, married my high school sweetheart, whom i'm still in love with very much! we have our 2.5 kids (the .5 is for our great dane) i think back at the memories from roa and hope to god that my kids never do some of the crazy stuff we did. but i guess that is what makes it special and growing up is all about. it's kinda of depressing to run into somebody from roa, cause you realize how much you have aged in what seems like just a short period of time. time, time is a funny thing, seems like there was plenty of it back then, now there never seems to be enough. that is what makes the memories so special they bring you back in time!

I just found this website after talking with a few ROA Alumni, unfortunately I did not get to graduate from ROA, but I did graduate from Ehret, I have 2 children, Seth (12) and Victoria (4), I was married for 5 years and I am currently in the process of getting a divorce. I work in Slidell, La doing accounting/sales for an industrial sales company. I have enjoyed reading alot of the e-mails, and I am very upset that I missed the reunion last year. | Comments: | Hey there! Found this site by accident and it was great to see familiar names. I am married with three step-kids Christina (17), Ben (16) and Dennis (16) and live on the North Shore! I have been in the Commercial Insurance Industry for 8 years. Time flies when you are having fun! I don¡¦t think the kids in high school today have the same school spirit at that the students at River Oaks had. My step kids flip when I tell them about slave day! How not PC is that!!!! It sure is sad to drive past our old school and see it in the stage that it has become. If only those might oak trees could talk, huh??? ƒº Kelli Plummer-Parsons and I have remained best friends all these years and we stay in touch with Niki Davis (living in TX) too.

| Comments: | While watching the Summer Olympics Track & Field competition,I was taken aback to to my Senior year, at which time, I was Track team Manager. The boys' team went to State Championships in Lafayette that year. I'll never forget the great athletes we had: Dave Pergande, Eddie Sisk, Pete Dufrene, Lance Copeland, and Ron Prest - to name a few.
As for the girls: Linda Steele, Tara Yundt, and Michelle Keeton. But, still today, one girl stands out in my mind: a seventh grader, Michele Lovell. She could run an 800 meter race faster than a speeding comet. Though she had problems with asthma, she gave everything she had to the sport. |

| Comments: | Hey all! Had to laugh at Glen Scorsone's note about Battle Ball in light of the comeback of Dodgeball. Maybe we need to start a Battleball league in N.O. for all the old ROA alumni. Can you imagine kids being allowed to play Battleball today? I am sure it would be classified as being too violent. But, boy, was it fun. Brings back fond memories even in spite of the bruises and beg red marks I remember on my body.
On another note, I have sad news to update everyone on. I lost my wife and best friend, Debbie, on January 1st to a sudden illness. Just sorry we now that we did not get to make the reunion last July so everyone could have met her. She will be missed but no forgotten. For now, I am still in Baton Rouge and plan on staying there for awhile as I like my new firm. Hope to get to see some of ya'll at the next big reunion. |

Although we lost the game that night against Vermillion Catholic and was "tarred and feathered" by my buddies, Dave Pergande and Eddie Sisk, the following Monday, the whole student body hailed me as a hero for jazzing them for the game that night. |

Steve Becnel, Wayne Carmadelle and I really hung together those days. Hard to believe it was 30 years ago. My how time flies. Carol, Brenda, Adele, Cindy and Gail were some we annoyed in class. I am married, almost 23 years with a old son about to graduate from Brother Martin and a daughter in 8th grade at De La Salle. I work for Entergy as a Design Engineer for the electric distribution system in the New Orleans area, and yes the lights are still on!! Got my degree in Civil Engineering from UNO in 1980. Partied hard the first couple of years in school but buckled down the last 3 to get my degree. I am involved as a board member of the Privateer Athletic Foundation at UNO. I also am a basketball coach at the playground for the all star team. You know how it goes, those that can't play, coach...... Hope everyone that reads this remembers the good times we had at ROA. My oldest and tallest (6'2") son, Steven, is playing football for Belle Chasse this year. Go Cardinals!??? Talk about mixed feelings! My youngest is starting 2nd grade at BC Primary (a WONDERFUL school!). My brother, Mike (Class of '85) was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in the beginning of July. Please keep him in your prayers! I don't have to say how dangerous and how unfit for human habitation that place is. He told us that it was 104 degrees at 9:30 PM. Sorry I missed the reunion at Boomtown. We were out of town for a family reunion honoring my grandmother's 90th birthday. Glad to hear it was a success, but what do you expect when you get a bunch of Panthers together! Maybe this can become an annual thing...... Something to think about! |

I ran into Paul, at his office just down from mine a couple years back. I couldn't believe that we would end up working in the same building. I have been here at TI for the past 7 years. I don't see Paul much anymore. I moved to another bldg. I have 5 children, three boys and two girls. I became a Mathematician with an interest in Electronics. Walbrook would be proud.. Sorry to hear about your Mom Carrol. Yes, I still don't forgive you and Ingrid from totalling my Torino. Just kidding. I would probably still be driving it, today. I talk to Andre Bourgeouis and Tom Williams when I can. Karin keeps me in touch with what is going on with a few of the rest. Bobby "Minton", I still want to see if you can still do a "clap, hand, pushup. Sorry I missed the last reunion. I would love to see, if you still could, I still can. After High School, I worked up to a Class A Industrial Electrician. I started my own business which I sold. I work with my Dad company for a while, but me and him don't get along I spend 8 years in the Army, yes I am a VFW. When I got to College, I couldn't decide what I wanted. I found out after a couple of quarter getting my ass kicked by my studies that I had dyslexia. I quess, that why I didn't open a book through High School. After getting treatment, I started to really enjoy College. I finished up with a Math degree,one class away from a Physic degree, and 12 hours to finish a Electrical Engineering Degree, a computer science minor, etc.. Let's say I loved College. I am STILL in the Marine Corps and will likely retire in 2005. Believe it or not in the intelligence field, currently working enlisted assignments (sending people places they don't want to go). I guess River Oaks really did teach me something on the days I actually went to school. Although my address is in North Carolina I live in Quantico VA. 30 days left here and I go back to NC. Over the last 19 years the Corps has let me see many countries and cultures. Guess now I can say that I'm a world traveler, but not in luxury. I've been married for the last 10 years and have 2 little girls(6/3). I can honestly say they are the most important thing in my life. As it looks now we will settle down in the Camp Lejeune area. There are so many people that I would like to contact again and hopefully next time I'm down there I can do it. In particular Robin and Sunny Keyser. I haven't seen their names anywhere on here or class mates. If anyone knows how to contact them shoot me an e-mail. The one listed is good to the end of Aug. I also though I had seen someone looking for a year book. I have a copy of a 1979(I think, I'll check this weekend). It was given to me by my neighbors mother when he died. It seems there was a Grand Isle kid who didn't seem to get along with Bret and his family his name is Keeland Cheramie and one night he opened fire on Bret as he was pulling into his parents driveway.

We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon (and unfortunately had to come back to the real world). Now we are having a new house built. He's gonna drive me back to River Oaks...Psychiatric Hospital...not Academy!!! Hope I have some sanity left by the time the house is ready to move into.
I'm planning on attending the reunion this Saturday...hopefully a lot of people that I knew are going, too. I know of a few people that wish they could make it but they live a little far away so they can't. We still haven't found the Michael Clement that we (Jennifer Gates, Jennifer Neilson, and myself) are looking for. The Mike that is an attorney in Belle Chasse is not the right Mike. He didn't have any brothers, only a sister (Michelle). Well if any of you were in my 6th grade class, you'll remember Mr. Cousins draggin me to the front of the class and busting my butt in front of the entire class. I was SOOOO humiliated. Can you imagine a principal trying to get away with that today!! Ms. Young wouldn't even talk to him she was so mad!! Why did they close the school???? I'm currently producing my last comic book, Fuse #6. It's sad that it's the last issue but at least it was an experience, hell my characters Dr. Nocturne and Kid Slumber made the cover of Gambit and I got an interview!!! The last issue does feature the "master of the higher order" Dr. Momus Alexander Morgus! I'll hopefully will be working on other projects with him... CHOPSLEY, put that down! You idiot! Another project I'm working on is a submission of a super hero group (Terrific Teens) and sending it out to contacts I made at various comic conventions this year. It's still a dream of mine and I'm still clinging to it! I'm currently working at a law firm, downtown. No wife or kids yet, YIKES the clock is ticking! I have been living in Dallas for the past 8 years with my husband, Craig, and son, Stephen, age 11. Had a great visit with my fellow '80 ROA grads in 2000 for our 20 year reunion and I am looking forward to the next reunion. Soon, I hope!! Why wait? We get home to New Orleans about twice a year, Christmas and July 4th. I must say I never appreciated New Orleans until I moved away. There honestly is not another city quite like it. Craig's career with GM has taken us to Lafyette, Memphis, Detroit (twice) Houston and finally to Dallas. No other city (Memphis has come close) can compete with the uniqueness of New Orleans. Does anyone rember Froggies? Still around? Here's wishing you and your families a healthy and prosperous future. |

As many of my classmate know, I also have two dear brothers who attended and graduated from ROA. Kirk in '83 who lives in Texas was married three years ago and have a beautiful new son. Kenny in '85 married shortly after graduation and now have three children. He has lived in Canada for over 15 years. I have not seen him in 10 years.

setting this page up. It'll be nice to see how many of us you can find. Living in Los Angeles with my wife, Beverly, and our 2 year old son, Griffin. TV and Film Production keeps me busy and several years ago I visited ROA under the old oaks and found the abandoned shell of what was once our high school. "Do not enter" was posted everywhere, so I had to take a look! Nothing had changed, except the hallways and classrooms were empty. I stood there for a few moments listening and I could swear I heard the voice of Mr. Cousins bellowing "get a hair cut!" I found an old text book that probalbly came from Fontnell's class which now sits on my bookshelf at home. After all these years I still haven't forgotten!!!! HA!!! Todd Schouest and I ran into Robert Koch a few months back at the Italian Pie. He was just as shocked to see us back together again after all these years as we were to see him!! And....I was also saddened to see our old ROA in the condition it is now in. I stopped by there one day and had to come home with a memory. I took one of the old ugly green cinder blocks and it now sits in my back yard garden with "ROA 1979" written on it. | Comments: | Hi everyone :) I was wondering what would come up if you typed in "River Oaks Academy" on the Yahoo search and this is what I came across. It's been great reading through the posts from other Panthers, and seeing some of my old classmates from the class of '79! I have lots of good and not-so-good memories of ROA, but it always holds a spot in my heart. How many people today can say that they went to the same school for all 12 years? I can, and am proud of that fact. I moved to Los Angeles, CA back in 1990 to attend school, and have been here ever since. Am currently single, but have been in two serious relationships since high school (both lasted 9 years each). I spent many years working for FAO Schwarz toy store here in L.A., before I was approached by Ashton Drake Galleries to be a product designer for them, and I've worked for them as a free lance designer for them (and several other companies) since 1998. Am in the process of starting my own company now. And am considering a move back to the South (probably Nashville, TN) next year, to be closer to my family. I still keep in touch with JoEllen Dewey after all these years. Last year I came home to visit for the first time in 11 years, and was shocked and sad to see what has happened to our school. But it lives on in our memories. We didn't know each other in school, but thanks for the website, Paul! |
