we are just starting to function again, after losing our soldier son, Gedaliah HY"D in jenin, in the battles of the Defensive Shield. this morning someone sent me the email about chana bat pesha. i would like to know how chana is doing now and to comfort you in your long journey of suffering. nothing is worse than for a parent to feel helpless, and await the Divine Intervention, and feel the weight of time passing. we have experienced this as well. our daughter was almost a vegetable for several years, due to a serious brain ailment for which there is little or no hope., we have partially won on that, in that instead of being severely retarded, our daughter, now 30, is a charming young lady, in a sheltered home, but functioning very well. speaks two languages competently, works a full work day, and has a very interesting and full leisure time. she studies art one evening a week and proves to be extremely gifted. we share with you in y our pain. penina and simcha mellick |

We were very sorry to hear about the tragedy in your family. My son had told us about your inquiry into our possible family relationship several months ago (I assume it was you). I contacted my only living uncle, Ruby Nachenberg, and he was reluctant to make contact with you as he said he did not know very much about other members of the Nachenberg family. Then my son some how came across the articles about Chana. Know that our prayers are with you and your family for Chana's recovery. The articles we are reading are old so hopefully she has improved since they were written. If donations are still needed, please let us know. We would also appreciate exact information on how to make the contributions and where to mail them. Hopefully in better times we can further pursue our relationship. There must be some relationship as I do not know of many Nachenberg's. There are a few Nachenberg families in Chicago. When I was there on a business trip I tried to pursue finding out how we might be related. No one was interested in finding out so I gave up. Again, we hope things are moving in a positive direction. "Mini Kids for Kids Jump-a-thon Raises Funds for Injured Woman Two and a half year old Sara sits by the window and waits for her mother to come home. Only a few days ago, she and her mother were eating pizza in Sbarro’s restaurant in Jerusalem, when a suicide bomber shattered her world. Sara’s mom, Chana Tova Chaya Nachemberg, 31, was critically wounded in the attack and now lies in a coma, on life support at Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem. Half way around the world twelve children, ages 6 and under, from the Newburgh area, reached out to Sara and her mom by having a Jump-a-Thon. Collecting pledges from friends and family, they gathered together to earn money that will be sent to aid Hadassah’s efforts in saving Chana’s life. Nancy Gross, of Newburgh, chaired the Mini Kids for Kids Jump-a-thon. Ms. Gross, whose children Hannah, Gabriel and Elias participated, feels it’s never too early to teach young children to reach out to those in need. “The kids like to help other people, ” said Gross. “Having fun while learning the meaning of charity is a very special opportunity.” Noar Hadassah president, Gail Oliver, presented all the children with certificates recognizing their efforts. She praised all the parents and children for participating in this special event that has thus far raised over $500. “We are praying for a miracle to help Chana Tova Chaya.
