I am still looking for my two uncles: Boleslav Theodor Hermann BÜTTNER ( Buettner) and Hans Otto Emil BÜTTNER both born in Schömberg (Schoemberg) by Landeshut in 1883 and 1884. In ten years of searching i did not find anything about them. I hope there will be never such a time when people murder and kill. What I am talking about. Birkhof,Starnitz,Rathsdamnitz,Gaffert und Stolp waren immer im Gespräch. Die Erzählungen aus der Heimat waren prägend und riefen immer große Emotionen hervor. Trauer und Leid sowie auch viele schöne Erlenbnisse aus Erinnerungen an die pommersche Heimat und an die Kindheit. Was besonders schwer nachvollziehbar ist,Ist die Trennung der Familien,die in alle Richtungen verstreut waren und sich zum Teil niemals wiederfanden. Damals hatte man nicht die Möglichkeiten,die uns heute gegeben sind. So weiß ich von Erzählungen meiner Großeltern,daß sie viele Geschwister hatten,nur wo die abgeblieben sind..............Eine schwere Zeit,die es nun aufzuarbeiten gilt,denn mich interessiert es,wer mit mir verwandt ist und ob es noch eine Verbindung geben wird. Wir sollten alle daran mitwirken,daß wir ein Leben in Frieden wollen .

I believe that even now, expelled Germans and their grandchildren have a legal right to reclaim lost land, farms and property, but also their right to live on this land from which they were so criminally expelled. But I can't agree that polish kings conquest pomerania with steel and fire ;) Pomerainans like Leczyczans(I come from this region), Polans, Mazowians, Wislans were SLAVIC TRIBES. Polans have united most western slavic triebs. In pomerania was the stongest pagan religion and after christanity of Poland in 966 the difference between Wolin and Gniezno has raised up. This situation has been used by Germans.
So I can say that German forces have worse influence on pomeranians. We shoud be objective. We need exemple: Gdañsk(Danzig) :) The story about siege of this town by Brandenburgians and 'relief' by German Order is well-known wordwide :). History is important, don't miss the true. Good luck! ;) |

He and Hermine Melchert had at least 6 children, two were named Martha and Paul. Friedrich-Wilhelm was the son of Friedrich-Wilhelm Colberg, Sr. and Henrietta Amalia Kautz. Had 6 other brothers - August, Heinrich, Johann, Otto, Paul and Ferdinand. Johann Colberg lived in Berlin with his family. The other 5 brothers, August, Heinrich, Otto, Paul and Ferdinand immigrated to Stevensville, Michigan in the US between 1880-1910. The name is now spelled Kolberg but has been found to be both variations in the old German records - Colberg and/or Kolberg. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

It was very disturbing to find almost all trace of the people that had lived and worked there for hundreds of years. Leider wissen wir nicht mehr über ihre Familie. Bis vor einiger Zeit kannten wir nicht einmal Ihren Geburtsort, den wir nun über eine Kopie Ihrer Sterbeurkunde erfahren haben. PAUL SCHLUTT und WOLFGANG LÖWE. Paul kommt aus Schwarz Damarkow(poln.Czarna Dabrowka)in Kreis Bütow. Wolfgang kommt aus Bütow(poln. Bytow). Opa hat diese Männer kennen gelernt als er noch junger Mann war. Jetzt aber hat er mit PAUL und WOLFGANG kein Kontakt mehr. Mein Opa hilft mir auch bei der Suche, so gut wie er kann. Von ihn habe ich schon manche Informationen kriegt aber ich brauche noch mehr wenn ich die Familie endlich finden will! Mein Opa heißt BERTHOLD SCHLUTT und wohnt noch in Polen in Damarkow(poln. Dabrowka Bytowska). Ich weiß(aber ich bin nicht sicher ob es stimmt),dass sie in die Richtung nach Essen ausgezogen sind. Die Eltern von mein Opa heißen(VATER)- Heinrich Hermann Karl Schlutt geb. am 16.Mai 1900 und die Mutter Frieda Alma Schlutt(geborene Suchert?)geb. am 1. Juni 1899. Sie leben ja nicht mehr aber es kann vielleicht bei der Suche helfen. Ich glaube, dass es gibt noch Familie von PAUL und WOLFGANG!!!Es muss doch jemand Bekannt geblieben sein! Ich würde mich sehr freuen wenn mir jemand etwas schreibt und vielleicht sogar jemand der zu Familie gehört??? Ich hoffe Sie helfen mir. DANKE! |

She said the family changed their name when they went to US. She married Michael Cybulski (Lipusz Poland) May 10 1887 in Chicago. Sehr geehrter Herr Radde, existiert eine Aufzeichnung über Häuser im Kreis Schlawe oder in Pommern allgemein die mit Reet gedeckt waren? Mündlich habe ich gehört, daß die Nationalsozialisten wohl dieses pommersche Brauchtum unter Denkmalschutz stellten. Ich erhoffe mir dadurch Fotomaterial vom Haus meines Urgroßvaters dessen Haus als einziges im Ort Malchow/ Kreis Schlawe original reetgedeckt war und angeblich unter Denkmalschutz stand, weil der offene Herdabzug/Esse direkt durchs Reet im darüberliegenden Dachgeschoß abzog. gibt es eine Literaturliste über die Erforschung unehelicher Kinder bzw die Alimentation der Väter, die zwar nicht geheiratet wurden aber regelmäßig Alimente zahlten, also auf diesem Wege die Vaterschaft anerkannten, wie mir mündlich mehrere Personen aus dem Heimatort des Vaters bestätigten. Wo wurden Alimentations-Zahlungen registriert? Ich benöte einen Nachweis der Vaterschaft, den ich wahrscheinlich anders nicht erbringen kann. Vielen Dank für jeden Hinweis. Bei dem Ort geht es um Malchow im Kreis Schlawe in Pommern, dort hat der benannte "Vater" Otto Zemke gelebt. Wie heiß ist es in der Schweiz? Ich selbst bin 1949 in Damerkow geboren und 1960 haben meine Familie Pommern in Richtung Westen Verlassen,wo alle jetzt zwichen München und Flensburg verstreut Leben. Mein Onkel Fritz Heß hatte ein Gut in Neuhütten, mein Vater Artuhr war Satlermeister und der Großonkel Max Deuble hatte eine Gastwirtschaft in Groß-Tuchen. Nach der Haft und Vertreibung sind die Eltern 1946 dann nach Damerkow gezogen.

| Comments: | This is an awesome site. It sure makes me wish I could read German! I have German ancestors whose surnames I see in your site and wonder how I can look for them at your site. Helmuth Loops (unsure if this was Americanized) and his 4 and 8 year old sons came to America from either Germany or Prussia in the early 1850's. Helmuth died on board the ship, and his orphaned sons Charles and Fred were separated to an orphanage and a work camp. They reunited 40 years later, but had little memory of the trip or the evnets surrounding their departure from their native land.
I also have Peters, Rahn, Klebenow and Schutt relatives from the 17-1800's from Germany, supposedly the Mechlenburg area. Can anyone at this site help me with these branches of my family tree? | Comments: | Ich komme gerade von einer 9-tägigen Reise aus Groß Tuchen (Tuchomie), wo ich mit meiner Tante im "Centrum Miedzynarodowych Spotkan w Tuchomie" wohnte, zurück.
Meine Vorfahren (Familien Schlutt, Schramm, Mutschall), kommen aus Groß Tuchen, Groß Massowitz (Maslowice) und anderen Ortschaften. Es war eine Spurensuche. Fast möchte ich sagen, ich kenne jetzt alle Feldwege, Wege und Straßen in der Umgebung. Ich danke allen Leuten, die uns so freundlich aufnahmen, bewirteten, neugierig auf uns waren, uns halfen wo sie nur konnten, mit Auskünften, Hinweisen, Erzählungen und Geschichten. Ich war im Großelterlichen Haus und Hof, und erinnerte mich, wie ich als Vierjährige verbotenerweise in der Haustür stehend, dem Schlachter zusah, wie er ein Schwein schlachtete. Ich erinnerte mich, als meine Großmutter Martha Schramm mir eine Kiste mit Eiern ins Bett gestellt hatte, damit die Küken unter der Bettdecke in der Wärme schlüpfen konnten. Ich erinnerte mich..., es gab vieles was ich noch wusste! Die Geburtsurkunde meines Vaters Hermann Schramm, konnte ich ohne Komplikationen in FotoKopie aus dem Geburtsregister vom Amt in Bütow (Bytow) für 25 sl. bekommen. Elke Schramm |

Ich bin auf der Suche nach dem Museum von Hans Kuether, der ein Verwandter meiner Großmutter Martha Stark, geb. Kuether ist. Hans K. hat wohl bei einem Museumsaufbau der pommerschen Abteilung geholfen. Da mein Mann und ich am 30. Mai die USA besuchen, um unseren Sohn nach 10 Monaten Aufenthalt in Florida wieder abzuholen, dachte ich, dies ist eine gute Gelegenheit die Spur wieder aufzunehmen. ALBERT HEINRICH WEGNER oo 1868 in Königsdorf BERTHA DOBBERSTEIN. Er lebte mindestens 1868 - 1874 als Lehrer in Adlig Lonken und ließ in der Zeit mehrere Kinder in der ev. | Comments: | I appreciate reading the pages on your site so much. My family left the Stolp area in Pommern about 1875 1876. As far as I can tell Friedrich Schuttpelz, married to Anna Wockenfuss came to America with his five married children. His only daughter Henrietta Schuttpelz was married to Christian Zaddach, born in 1813. They all settled in the Town of How, Oconto County, Wisconsin, USA. Here the family was instramental in the beginings of St. John Lutheran Church. Your site has helped me get the feel for what my ancestor's life may have been like or why they may have come to America. The memories of the older decendants are fading fast and it is hard for me to to trace my family in the Pommern, Prussen area. I have found many names familar to the the Wisconsin family in this area, but have not been able to obtain enough information to connect them to us. Thank You very much for the good reading and getting the "feel" for the area.
