On the day we are all in the queue at 1120am on sunday the 20th of december 09, as we get guaranteed early entry and reduced admission,and enter as a very large group(tommy docs xmas party)(all stragglers we will see you in there!), we then crack on and when it finishes at fourish, we get on the tube and sing some unPC songs to the civvies and go to a pub in central london! So if you fancy it, we will see you there!! ("The Church" is 2 minutes from Kentish town tube stn,on the northern line.in london! basically out the tube stn turn right, and follow the strong bow cans to start our very Merry xmas!!) |

Myself and Merv Ashe are doing a 68 mile walk for 68 years of the RAF Regt next year to raise money for both H4H and The Royal British Legion, the chrities that do so much for our wounded and their families and the bereaved. But I can assure you we in the RAF Regt are all fully aware of night/day routines and all the "skills and drills" that go with it. Before you make unhelpful comments like that try and get the bigger picture that was happening on the ground at the time. You don't know it and neither do I. I could point you to various videos on youtube and criticize other units poor "skills and drills" from the safety of my armchair, but I choose not to. Regards |

However,in the same series it showed the RAF REGT on vehicle patrol at night out beyond the wire. Now to the point of the e-mail,-it showed them cooking at night with naked flame in a hostile environment,probably not the best thing to do.Its easy for me to slag the lads off sat here in comfort,but i hope incidents such as this have not contributed to the death of that brave man last week. | Comments: | A British serviceman has been killed in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said. The airman, from 34 Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment, died in a blast while on a patrol near Camp Bastion, the main UK base in Helmand Province, on Thursday afternoon. His family have been informed. Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson, spokesman for Task Force Helmand, said: "The death of this courageous Royal Air Force Regiment gunner is a true loss. "He will be mourned by his friends, colleagues and all of us serving in Helmand Province. "We know that whilst our loss is heartfelt, it is nothing compared to the sorrow of his family, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies." The RAF Regiment is tasked with protecting the security of the airfield at Camp Bastion so British aircraft can safely take off and land there. The airman killed on Thursday was taking part in a regular patrol to prevent insurgents launching an attack on the base. His death took the number of British troops killed in Afghanistan since the mission began eight years ago to 219. |

| Comments: | Hi All. Thanks to everyone who turned up for the Regiment reunion in Chippenham on Saturday 8 August. It was a fantastic day with I think every Squadron represented. Just goes to prove that you can get loads of past and present Rocks together without worrying about what Squadron you served on. All in all there were nearly 100 who attended and made it a memorable day. A big thank you must go to Wayne at the Auderly Arms for allowing us to hold the reunion there. Also for putting on a fantastic BBQ. Due to the success of the reunion, my plan is to make this an annual event.
