Comments:Hello again Tim, Hope you don't mind the repeat entry as the get together draws nearer: A parish notice to all ex and serving members of the RAF Regiment. Their will be an un-official get together of past and present corp members, at the Angel Hotel in catterick village, On the 30th August 2008. The majority of attendees will be from the Catterick "era" and all of the Squadrons based their until hand over to Percy. Stretching as far back as the early 70's. Obviously this period of service is not compulsory as all will be most welcome. The Angel is now run by Bo Burgess RAF Regiment of old, so technically it is back in Regiment hands. Anyone interested can contact me at the above e.mail address for any further info. cheers and beers all, Pete

Lesbo peacewomen shitting in the woods , sitting in those wooden huts freezing my bollocks off , crapping in plastic bags and putting it in the coal fires before the RAF Police came on shift, it fucking stunk. Taff Powell telling us hes got peace women surrounding his o.p , when we got there as QRF he was so pissed he could barely stand up , the peace women had cut a hole in the fence , surrounded him and stood there singing "peace" songs , funny as fuck will never forget that !

Comments:In the skies over Basra, a crack squad of highly trained RAF Regiment snipers have been hard at work supporting ground troops and Immediate Response Teams (IRT) under fire from Iraqi militia. Flying with RAF Merlin and Lynx crews, the heavily armed heli-snipers can be mobilised at short notice to locate and eliminate enemy positions, reducing the threat to Army ground troops and medical units on the ground. So far the heli-snipers have been deployed to give force protection for Lynx immediate response teams, scrambled to evacuate casualties, fire support for deliberate operations, rapid route clearance for convoys, and to counter the threat from militia preparing crude explosive devices. Using IRT for the role gives the heli-snipers the ability to respond quickly. Travelling by air also gives them an improved field of vision, allowing them to relay vital surveillance to commanders on the ground. Armed with advanced rifles, equipped with laser-marking capability, the RAF Regiment sniper teams have already proved effective in combat. - Good skills! -------------------------------------------- PS - Speedy recovery Taff Williams!!

Comments:It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the deaths of two servicemen from the Royal Air Force Regiment yesterday, Sunday 13 April 2008, in Kandahar Province, southern Afghanistan. Two other servicemen were also injured in the same incident. At approximately 1848 hrs local time, the men were conducting a routine patrol two kilometres west of Kandahar Airfield when the vehicle they were travelling in hit an explosive device. Medical care was given at the scene and all four servicemen were evacuated to the field hospital at Kandahar Airfield. Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical team, two of the servicemen died as a result of their wounds. The injuries sustained by the other two men are not believed to be life-threatening. The next of kin of all those involved have been informed and there will be a 24 hour period of grace before further details are released.

Comments:Hi Tim, A parish notice to all ex and serving members of the RAF Regiment.

Comments:Corporal David Hayden, 29, of the RAF Regiment, has become the first airman to win the Military Cross after carrying an injured colleague across 200 yards of difficult terrain while under fire in Basra in August last year. Corporal Hayden, from Spalding, Lincolnshire, rescued Leading Aircraftman Martin Beard during the battle of al-Waki market in Basra when under fire from about 50 insurgents. After hearing that his comrade had been hit he ran into the open to grab him and carry him to safety. He hoisted the wounded soldier on to his shoulder and ran for 200 yards to find shelter. “As we came back we got engaged by a guy in a doorway about 40 yards away . . . I returned fire and he fell over,” Corporal Hayden said. This is from "The Times" newspaper Sat 8 March 2008. Greatest respects to everyone there or who's been there.

Cpl Dave Hayden articulated his point so well to the questions raised and of course of the events he experienced. He and the other guys on the Sqn should truly hold their heads high. Your professionalism is an example to all. I must also comment on the fact that is was obviously the loyalty of the Sqn to its men that saw these deserving blokes awarded such recognition through “write ups” on their return, so many times in the past have guys gone unrewarded for actions taken in the areas we have all worked. So – well done the Execs also. A terrific day for the Royal Air Force Regiment. Per Ardua.

In a particularly ferocious battle against a determined group of insurgents, involving a fully dismounted patrol in Iraq, Hayden repeatedly showed the most outstanding courage, selflessness and personal example. With absolute disregard for his own safety he repeatedly risked his own life in order to rescue a wounded comrade and extract his combat team. RAF REGT Fighting Spirit!

Comments:The old goat reached the top of the mountain, tired because of his age and out of touch with the rest of the flock. He was hungry for he had by-passed the better grazing in the lower lands for his doctrine was to reach the top no matter how long it took or how bad the route he took was. His coat bore the stains of many a long night in the watering hole wilderness talking, to those who would listen, of things in the "old days". The younger goats though knew that to reach the top of the mountain was indeed folly. The new direction was very much different to the route the old goat followed, indeed the top of the mountain was now after the middle with various routes to follow. He was wasting the time of those who wanted to find a new route for the flock - to ensure its survival with the new shepherd. The old goat wandered around moaning about his lot and how the younger goats were faster, leaner and more informed than him - he was a sad old goat. When his day came - it was said of him that he seved his flock well - to a point!! He lost the momentum needed to keep up with the changing wind and the new direction his flock must follow to survive. - The old goat is dead - LONG LIVE THE GOAT.
