Comments:Great website! I am a special education campus coordinator/special ed. teacher in San Antonio, Texas. As part of our technology plan all teachers in our district need to build a webpage. We are also required to have one link within that webpage. I stumbled across this website while searching for an appropriate link. I really enjoyed the personal aspect of it and feel many parents in our district could be enriched by viewing it. I just wanted to let you know how inspiring I found it. I also loved the child-centered aspect. Thanks for your hard work.

He was doing great up until his 3-5 set of shots and then we saw a change in our Tyler. It was very hard to wrap our minds around it but we have come togather as a family and we are stronger then ever before. Tyler is in Grade one and he loves music and computer time. He likes alot of different tv shows but he would rather been on the computer or listening or playing music. Tyler dislikes are haircuts, teethbrushing, loud noise, and not getting his computer time. Tyler's big brother Bailey is his best friend and is teaching him to play Bailey's Wii and he loves playing againist Bailey. Tyler's most loved time spent is with his family all togather. Well Ariel I have to go,Take care of your family and do your best at keeping still in that barber's chair okay haha. Bye for now Kari E Ps I love your site. I should try and make one for my Tyler.

We are also going to a neurologist at Children's Hospital here in Houston, TX. ( To get a corroborating diagnosis.) Long story short, Myles is a wonderful 10 year old boy with three siblings and two parents in the home. We had received a diagnosis of PDD very early in his development, or lack there of. What we did not know, nor were we ever told that, PDD was/is on the Autism spectrum! While he has received services, I can only wonder how much farther he would be had we known then, seven years ago that our son was in fact Autistic. I applaud you for going that extra mile and helping other families! I will send people to your site should they have questions that I cannot answer. God Bless and keep up the informative and vital work you are doing.
From one mother to another~ Thank you!

Comments:Hi
Great website. I have a 12 year old son that has AS. The most important thing for these children is early intervention. When my son was 2 1/2, he was not developing language skills. We were told it was either Mental Retardation or Autism. Luckily, he was right away put into a special education class. We were not told that it was AS until my son was 10 years old. I was also in denial. I cannot imagine where my son would be today without the Speech Therapy, Occuptational Therapy, and Special Ed.
We are considering going to the Autism Treatment Center in Sheffield, Massachusetts. If anyone knows anything about
this, any information would be appreciated.

Your site is very nice. I enjoyed it. There's a book I would recommend for anyone with autism, ADD, depression, schizophrenia, and CFS. It's called the Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Natasha Campbell-McBride. Only available in the UK, so you'd have to go to www.amazon.comuk
She talks about how balancing the flora in the gut and avoiding processed foods has helped thousands of people.
She has an 11 y/o autistic child that wrote a poem at the beginning of her book. It's so articulate that it sounds like an adult wrote it. I was impressed. She also advocates ABA education. I loved the book and it changed my life. Now I'm reading another book she recommends called Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall. She writes about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and how to immplement it with tons of recipes. Take care.

As a licensed social worker, I have worked with a handful of families that had one or more children that had autism on top of other serious developmental delays. I also have two nephews that have Aspergers Syndrome, another added to the category under the autism umbrella. Thank you for being so open about the way autism has affected the life of your beautiful boy and family. These are our most precious of gifts, our children with these special needs. They are true angels, yours and mine.

Brightest blessings...
Gentle Angel

Comments:Hello, I am reading this wonderful informative website that you have created. I am a single mother of 18 month old twin girls. They both are not yet speaking and one is just trying to walk while holding her hand. Both of my girls are involved with Early Intervention several times a week. I have brought them to different specialists but not one has pin pointed the reason for their delays. If you or anyone reading this have suggestions for me or the names of doctors, they are welcomed. I will place this website on my favorites because it will take time for me to read everything. It is commendable what you have both done.

May God Bless you and angels be at your side always,

To finally have a name and know that there IS actually a reason for his struggles is half the battle. He is a brilliant boy but just needs adjustments to routines and he's been perscribed some medication. Already the difference is amazing, he even thinks so himself.

Comments:Hello Ariel,

This is a very lovely site your mother created for you :) I found it through the autism webring. I have just recently been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome - at the age of 39, and after wondering all my life what could be wrong with me. Despite my high giftedness I have great difficulty doing everyday things (especially with regard to communication with other people) which "normal" and even many mentally challenged people have no problems doing. Well, now I know why ;)

Greetings from Germany!

My son (whom i gave up for open adoption) was 2 before they found out what was wrong. He is doing so much better. I was so mad when it first happened because I felt like it would take longer for him to know who i really was. But i still get to see him and the first time he said my name i cried. Him just saying my name is worth all the pain of him not knowing who i am. I want him to understand autism before he knows he's adopted. I'll keep your website. Also what are my chances of having a child with autism? And i'm not with the father so does that mean anything that my next one will not have it? i'm just full of questions but don't know who to ask.

I was researching some information on autism for myself trying to understand it a little better when I came across your wonderful site. You see I am a aunt looking to understand ways to communicate with my nephew he is only three. And so far out of all the sites I have found Yours is the best You and your mother have done a wonderful job putting this site toghter I love the fact its in a family perspective. Your brother seems to be a very special person. I'm haveing a very hard time explaing to my eight year old son about what his cousin has he is not understanding it very well.Nicolas is not like you he won't watch tv or play video games we sure wish we could find something to get his attention he wants to destroy things like our dvd player he is facinated with wires any thing that has wires he pulls them out and carries them around like a security blanket to the point we have to let him fall asleep with them then take them away so he don't hurt himself. He's a very smart little boy and is so curious about how things work.Sometimes he just amazes me thankyou for your web site&keep up the good work I'll be back to read more.

HFA; Higher-Functioning Autism, Bipolar Disorder, and ADHD - just diagnosed at age 17. But; in past was diagnosed as mildly mentally retarded, while having a severe communication disorder. I had to have a TON of therapy, to reach, where I am today. Wooohooo! 8 years of therapy.. You think it's a little bit of therapy - once it's over with, but in general, 8 years, is ALOT of therapy, but once it's over with, it seems like a very little portion of my life.. but, it made a big difference! =D

Comments:Ariel and Family,
We have 2 boys who were diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and Centeral Auditory Processing Disorder almost 3 years ago. Shortly after their testing was complete we started our whole family on a food supplement that has greatly changed our lives. Our youngest son, Caleb, no longer shows up on the Childhood Autism Rating Scale as autistic. He had been totally out of contol. He had severe anxiety to the point that he would not even go to the bathroom on his own or stand with the rest of the children at church to sing to the congregation. He also lied without a thought and continually destroyed his siblings things and would hand them back with a grin on his face. Caleb also chewed on the neckband of his shirts and had little to no eye contact. Just to mention a few things. We haven't had Michael rated as of yet but assume there will be a similar result. He was fixated on drawing and machanics. He did not have friends his own age and didn't care . Michael was often unaware of the many dagers around him and spent most of the day in his own world. He also suffered with low muscle tone. Both boys would throw temper tantrums at the drop of a hat as well as fits of anger that became more frightening the older they got.We are excited to see such a neat web page where parents and friends can search for much needed answers.
With Love,
Alison and Jason

Comments:Thank you for the wonderful book, my son Dylan was diagnoised last year with autism, but I knew for awhile something was wrong. he also goes to a wonderful school and gets speech,ot and pt. He has been going to this school since the age of 2and half and he is now 4. I never thought I would of been doing this because I said I would never put him in daycare but then seeing all the problems he was having and how much he has improved in the last year is well worth it. Even though my husband thinks there is nothing wrong with him and getting him up in the morning at 6:00 a.m. he has let him sleep in. He just got some new shoes to help with his feet they said his feet displays pronation with collapsed navicular bones and slight heel cord valgus bilaterally. He also at the age of 4 months was diagnoised with torticollicus and was started with PT and around 8 months we also notice the flatting ont he back of his head like your son was given the same diagnosis and treatment, but ours didn't last long, it was good to read about somebody else with about the same problem my son has. I hope we can keep in touch.

Take care and give Ariel a big Hug

We are nervous to hear the outcome. Although we do not have a doctor at this time, the doctor we did have said she wouldn't even suggest autism, however we requested a second opinion and the Pediatrician we were referred to said in his opinion that Travis would fit in the spectrum. I just want people to stand up and be sure they get the help they need. We have read and done a lot of research and I am ready to accept any condition my son may have. I really liked your story and your web page. I wish Ariel a happy and healthy life!!

Comments:This is such a wonderful homepage for you Ariel, your mommy should really be proud. I'm the mother of a 4 year old boy and a 9 month old girl. My son was diagnosed with Autism at 2, just in time for us to be able to take advantage of the Early Intervention program. He is now in his 2nd year in a Special Ed Preschool Program run by our local school district and between school, his OT and Speech therapies and his medications he is improving everyday. Our biggest obstacle is potty training, but I know when the time is right and he's ready he'll 'get it'.

I especially loved the Disney Trip page. My family are HUGE Disney fans. Our son's first trip was at 2 1/2 and we just returned from his 6th (and our daughters 2nd!) a month ago. We truly believe the trips are theraputic for him; he's able to adjust to the different surroundings and each trip he just 'get's it' more: understanding who the characters are in relation to him ('wow, that's Woody from my Toy Story video') and truly enjoying himself. He also loves the physical stimulation of Splash Mt and Big Thunder Mt (he was even tall enough for Space Mt this trip, Mommy and Daddy were so excited!).

Thank you again for this wonderful site; it helps to know that we're not alone out there. I love my son with all of my heart and while I would change his condition in a heartbeat I would NEVER trade him for anyone in the world. There's only one CJ, and he's all mine.

Comments:My son, Tommy, is 3 1/2 and was just diagnosed with Autism this past week. He has been in speech therapy and OT for a while now and is making great progress, so we are hopeful that he can overcome most of his developmental problems. I have been struggling with depression ever since he showed signs of being "different", but I am thankful that I got help with the depression before the diagnosis came. Tommy is a sweet and beautiful boy (as is Ariel!) and there are so many things about him that I would never want to change. My brother-in-law, a school psychologist shared the "Welcome to Holland" story with me on Saturday, which I really identified with. Also, early Sunday morning, while nursing my 1 year old daughter, I watched a television program called, "It is Written" (www.itiswritten.com). The topic was "Where is God when evil seems to triumph?" The message was one of hope and was an encouragment to me. Your site also was encouraging to me today. Thank you!

Comments:I was scanning different websites and making some up as I went along when Bingo! I typed in www.autismsupport.org and your son's picture came on. Our son, Matthew Aloysius,is five years old this month and was diagnosed with PPD-NOS before his was two. He started speech and OT at fifteen months, received special therapies under the auspices of CHILDLINK in Philadelphia until he was three and then transitioned (well) into a structured early intervention class at the Green Tree School under the auspices of ELWYN in Philadelphia until one month ago when we moved to Bucks County, PAand the Council Rock School District with the hope that he will receive excellent educational and therapeutic services throughout his school-age years. We were told by numerous people- educators, therapists, pediatricians, parents to move out of Philadelphia. It was bittersweet but after almost two years of research and looking for housing, we moved. (We are originally from the North Jersey-New York Metropolitan area.) Your web site is fantastic. Would you be so knd as to tell us how you know of Georgetown's Center for Child and Human Development as I taught there (i.e., the School of Nursing) and still have friends there? At any rate, Matthew is doing well but sometimes I think we could be doing more for him on a daily basis. Have you ever brought together a small group of parents (with child care) to talk about their life experiences, their challenges, and what things have worked and what things have not? We are open to that kind of a supportive environment. Thanks again for your website.

How many vaccinations have you had?

Are you aware that mercury is in the vaccines which has been found to cause autism? California has removed mercury from their vaccinations and are having fewer cases of autism reported the past year. I know of some websites that have more information about vaccines. Email me if you would like them.

My url has information based on Nobel Prize winning scientists, Dr. Otto Warburg, Dr. Linus Pauling.

Our body's pH level can tell us a great deal about how our body is acting. Dr. Warburg discovered the cause of cancer in 1931.

The url has more information if you are interested.

Thanks for your time.

Comments:My boys ages 5 and 9 are currently being tested to find "answers". They have a lot in common with Ariel (Love to play on Playstation and same favorite shows!) PDD and Aspergers are suspected for Ryan who is 9. So I am trying to read as much as I can. We are finding out late, partly because we homeschooled to "help" him to work out certain issues at home. I enjoyed your site. I seem to pick up "little bits" from different ones. God Bless you and your precious children.
