| Comments: | This may come bit late to narrate but just the same I thought of sharing with you guys the unfortunate experience I had when I brought home from Saudi Arabia my Sporty a week before the Bike Week. Purposely I sent my bike via air freight in order to catch up the festivities and in two days time it reached Manila. Three days before the Holy week I was able to pay already the custom tax but obtaining the Certificate of Payment was a period of despicable events I never anticipated. Being away from our beleoved P.I. so long I was out of touched how our govt. offices deal with importer like me... OFW Bagong Bayani. I was so much frustrated by the boldness by some employees at NAIA Customs-Examiner Office to demand "facilitating fee". At one time, I was asked 10,000. pesos and this I gave to the examiner at their office toilet. Mind you, this was only at one office and the process took me to several offices between NAIA-Customs and Pier-Customs. All these sucking of money I could avoid as I was so much itching to cath the rides but to no avail. Reporting to Mission X came accross my mind but my wife cautioned me not to as we do not know big shots to come to our aid if legal issues arise. Anyhow, my writing to you is only an expression of how we really are in dire need to clean-up our government bureaucracy. Some of my friends here Saudi Arabia who are planning to bring home their bikes are now in real fear of being milked by these dirty custom people. Well, I might have missed the fun but I look forward for the next time around. |
