This is what he heard: There ain't nobody here but us chickens There ain't nobody here at all So calm yourself, And stop your fuss There ain't nobody here but us We chickens tryin' to sleep, And you butt in And hobble, hobble hobble hobble With your chin There ain't nobody here but us chickens There ain't nobody here at all You're stompin' around And shakin' the ground, You're kickin' up an awful dust We chicken's tryin' to sleep And you butt in And hobble, hobble hobble hobble It's a sin Tomorrow Is a busy day We got things to do We got eggs to lay We got ground to dig And worms to scratch It takes a lot of settin' Gettin' chicks to hatch There ain't nobody here but us chickens There ain't nobody here at all So quiet yourself, And stop your fuss There ain't nobody here but us Kindly point that gun, The other way And hobble, hobble hobble off and Hit the hay Tomorrow Is a busy day We got things to do We got eggs to lay We got ground to dig And worms to scratch It takes a lot of settin' Gettin' chicks to hatch There ain't nobody here but us chickens There ain't nobody here at all So quiet yourself, And stop your fuss There ain't nobody here but us Kindly point that gun, The other way And hobble, hobble hobble of and Hit the hay "Hey boss man What do ya say?" First off, I am so glad to learn that I don't have to enter "www-dot" before the name of any web site. Second, "first off" makes me wonder what "www" translates to around the world. Third ... You're ready? Here goes: Akh! Some things make the blood boil. When boiling, it rises to the head which colors red on the outside. This is really out of heat. If you watch closely, steam may be coming out of the ears and nose. The more it goes, the more I think of my travels, the people I met, the things I've seen, the more my beliefs change not one iota. Give the lands back to the indigenous peoples. They treat Mother Earth better than we do. They do not feel the need to automate everything, mechanize everything, autochrotize, electronicize, synchronize, etc'terize anything, or fight for absolute control. No they don't. They enjoy taking the half-day trip to the natural well, talking to the donkey carrying the jars, listening to what the birds and the winds utter. Because of the simplicity that lies in nature, they experience prophets, burning bushes, voices of the spirits, the obvious skies. By the way, now that they have plundered Mother Earth, they're going after Father Sky and then Space: the final frontier. Pfft. Sorry, I'm on a roll. Wattaday, Wattaday ... |

what can i say? i accidently bumped into ur music productions. i must say they are indeed moving . unfortunately, i previously did not know Mounir Al-Kaouly existed nor his greatly reflective music. i am currently in sydney finishing up some studies and in one of the modules called World Englishes, i need to write an assigment on English varieties around this world. so being profusely in love with my beloved LIBAN i chose to write about sub-culture and music produced by Lebanese artists and Hence i came across ur music. THANK U THANK U THANK U , u have really contributed to this potential research. God bless u and LIBAN Joumana |

| Comments: | My dad used to say that the events that took place in Lebanon were only a precursor to what would happen on a global, if not universal and even cosmic basis.
I started realizing he was right when Lebanon became a verb--sense of action--like "Lebanonizing" countries here and there. Etc. Today, as I look around, every possible location on the planet, when people are gathered in large numbers, is Lebanonized. In contemporary History, "Lebanonized," at one point, meant day meant things like: There are gangs of all sorts, everywhere; ethnic, religious, ganged-up in groups that are convinced that their way is the right way and their spirit is "the" Great Spirit. Ah! Where are the natives when you need them? So what's my point? Obviously. My dad ws right. Look around: it's gotten to the global, universal and cosmic point where some, who have the power (via money) to do it, are trying to shove stuff down others' throats. Look around: "Democracy in the Middle East." "Gang power in urban environments" "Elected representatives, by, from and for the people" into government in "countries" with "established" borders" "Protection against invasion" "Where is someone like Saddam when we need him?" So, some think "Democracy" (whatever that means) Others think, "Maybe we need a dictator like Saddam" to keep everyone in line and the place safe and clean. Imagine. The multitude of positions, convictions, ideas, ways of doing things. Couldn't we all just be "nice" and accept that there are plenty of us; that none of us has an answer except that here we are, in the environment we are in, on a global, universal and cosmic level, and that we're just passing by? Akh! Money money money. Making it, making it, making it. Making what? I bet no one can answer that one. There is nothing but the Great Spirit. Did you give hug someone today? Wassalam. |

Rami here, i don't know if u recall who i am. I recently relocated to the states for college. Anyway, i have your most recent CD here and track2 seemes to be gaining most of the popularity over here. | Comments: | Dear Tannin Al Tarab,
I have enjoyed looking over your website and especially listening to your music. I have been hoping to find, in the next couple of years, some friendly Arabic people. Finding one with a sense of humor is even more appreciated! My wife Mary Alice and I will be moving from Vermont USA to Carthage in Tunisia this Summer, for two years or more. She will be the High School Librarian and Gifted/Talented coordinator at the International School. I want to learn more about the variety of music scenes in Tunisia, and hope to do some live music recording. I will be bringing my portable 16-track 48KHz, 24 bit Audio Workstation, and also some microphones, etc. If you have any pointers or suggestions for music people or locations over across the Med in Tunisia I would appreciate it. I'm going to be Way Out Of Town for a while. I'm working on the French, and later some Arabic. But I hope music, as you've shown, is the universal language. As we get ready to make the move, I'll be putting more Magreb oriented stuff on my website. Would it be acceptable to put Arab Blues, or a pointer to your site/version up there? We all need to start out with a smile, and a laugh at ourselves. Now, my challenge is to find some US based song that somehow says "I'm an American, but I think the current administration is a bunch of idiots, and I'm not here to transplant some arrogant, ignorant view of how YOUR country ought to be over here!". I think I'll ask my friend Matthew Madan (Speaking of people influenced by Elmore James) to think about it (www.matthewmadan.terryking.us). Matthew has a phrase in one of his songs (Break Over Me) in which he refers to himself as "A Balladeer in a Mad King's Court.. playing for his life". I told him that I believed he had defined the "Music Business" in 2004. I have enjoyed your critiques of your local pop music scene. I wish I could say it was any better here. Sigh.... Well, I hope you're having fun with your music. I'll track down the latest CD, along with some other Magreb Pop etc. to start my music re-education. Best Regards, Terry King ...In The Woods In Vermont terry@terryking.us |

| Comments: | Munir, you're wallowing in poverty because you're going about it all wrong.
Recipe for Becoming an International Pop Sensation. Form a group consisting of: One black male from the "'hood" (all black men are from the "'hood" even if raised on Lexington Avenue ya know what I'm sayin' G?) One White guy - the 'sensitive' one. The sensitive one is always brooding in poses that show off his muscular torso. He makes prolonged eye-contact with adolescent girls in the audience. One Hispanic bloke because latinos are in right now, esse. He must wear a bandanna very low on his forehead. Now all you need are lyrics. No problem. Consider the following combinations: 'Oooooh girl, i want you so bad' 'Oooh girl you are so bad I want you' 'bad girl, oooh i want you' etc. Your first hit single should be ready in one afternoon. It will cleverly be called 'Bad Girl' As for the name of your boy band it's a shame 'Backstreet boys' is already taken. Clearly, they are a very tough lot because they aren't just from any street - they're from the BACK street. Teenage girls quiver at their badness. I propose: Boyz (How macho is that 'z' at the end. Bet the Backstreet Boys wish they'd thought of that one. Ha.) You are now set for stardom and riches. |

| Comments: | Well, yes. Most of us acquire a product, say a CD, put it in the machine, listen/taste, and then feel and comment. But few, really, have a clue. To make a parallel, Mounir's October diary entry confirms that Art is an art. Kudos and bravos for the release. It must have not been that simple, yes? Heck. Someone has to select the best meat and trim the fat; pick the tastiest tomatoes; slice the carefully selected basleh right; choose the mushrooms that'll make the picture grow; color it all with the most vibrant and tasty yellow, green and red bell peppers. Then, it's not over. Integrate this all in the design and building of skewers that are appealing, yet educational to the palate. Then the right coals have to be lit to the right intensity before the whole enchillada can melt into your soul. I'm not even addressing how tedious it is to make sure the side dishes belong, from the Saffron rice with raisins, through the hommous, and on to the fattoush. The pleasure of cooking for the soul. I cannot wait to take the messages in your CD in. I am sure it is great. And once you have the recipe, every production will only get easier and better. Well-aged wine. Red. I already wish for much more than the promoted next three CDs. Your work, ya Mounir, including the advertising and commercial work, makes a mark in history. A mark that we all relate to. Wassalam.
Now for the srious stuff: what's up with not having planed for us, fahr fahr away, to get this fast, like foreign distribution? Yeah, I know, ... |

| Comments: | I bought the CD last night from Virgin and I am extremely delighted by the work, it's groovy, funky, hilarious, committed, and really: "bi hezz el khasser wa bi sirr el feker!" I used to have an original cassette copy of "Bil Arabi Le Mshabrah" and I can say the re-masters are great too... Munir is a rare talemt! Looking forward for more stuff! Keep it grooving...
p.s. I am promoting the CD (legally) every way I can! Cheers, Issam Raad. |

| Comments: | Hey Munir,
this is the Babe of babes. Delighted to see how you've flourished despite the grind of Beirut. Your website brought the memories flooding back. I miss the late night jams: me painting, you and Roger making music with spoons and chairs, Nasr and Bhutta--heads buried in their feathers as if to say they'd heard it all before.... You're still making music, I'm still painting, Nasr and Butta are long buried (though I still hear them singing). Say, what's Hodger up to? Love, Fiona |

The Photo Gallery is sooooo damn cool!! Luv the salbeh tone - browsing through I feel like I got to meet a long time friend or something.... Mounir, looks like you had quite the journey, you're gr8!! So the signature Jesus look is no more? Alas :(( Cheerz to salbeh and fine muzique. Luv the diary section - find it quite educational - hope you're not getting in trouble.... All the Best NB: What's the latest about the CD release date?! |

It was a pleasure to finally meet Nasrudin (the famous bird),... and the photos under the Metamorphosis heading are * * * * * *,... (can't find the words to express our opinion)!.... :o)
Good luck, and keep up the unique work,... looking forward to the new CD. AbulZolof |

| Comments: | Ya Munir! (and ya webmaster)
Mang! I was starting to get worried. Here was the 5th, 6th, 7th day in May and no posting in the Diary section. Pfiuu! What a delight on this Satrunday evening: I click and the May entry is here! And it's great! Again! Muni, you da best, dawg! Informative, witty, funny!, and with this voice that has become so unique. Shta2nelak ya wateh! Hayda 'l "Dreambook" ma 7a yemche ya ekhwen. Lezem n' ghayyer 'l essem b'ta3 'l link. Ashnoo "Dreambook," y'akhi!? Also, ya "dreamguests" there should be some protocol stuff herein and I suggest starting with the on-going thang. Masalan: the "aain" in Arabic is typed with the letter 3 which looks closest to the aain on a western board of typekeys. Exombles: Wadi3 'l Safi; 3ala Dal3ouna; 3aseer jazar; 3a shoow, walaw!?; 3aou 3aou; etc. the "heh" like in "halib" (milk) is typed with the number 7 bicoz it looks very close to the top of the letter as drawn in the Arabic alphabet. Exombless: 7abibi or bti; roo7 ya wa7sh!; Amine Rou7ani; 7alib 3anzeh; fa7l; and farfa7a etc. The 2 is used for the hamzeh as in 7aba2; ma2too3; Ba22ousseh!; and mla2la2 (or mla3la3, depending). So, for example, using Munir's post: Omar Z’inni=3omar z3inni Sabah = Saba7 Rahbani = Ra7bani Ta’ammulat (el Kouz Fi Tammouz) = Ta2ammulat Sami Hawwat = Sami 7awwat Abboud Abdel Al = 3abbood 3abd 'l 3aal etc. Any feedback from someone? |
