I am a 43 year old pre-op MTF girl that has been given a LOT of inspiration by you and your site. I know that you probably receive hundreds of comments like mine a day, but you have truly been an example, an inspiration and a huge resource for me in my journey. I am currently approaching the time where I will have to make a permanant transition and I will be honest, I am scared to death. I have lost the relationship with my parents, with my daughters and several "close" family friends. I lost my marriage of 15 years and am currently one of the millions of americans that are out of work as a result of what everyone sees as my "choice". I am telling you all of this so that when you feel like you have been run ragged, when you feel like you are a slave to your day planner and when you have those times where you feel like throwing in the towel and wonder why you do it all, please remember that even the smallest most insignificant thing that you do to try and help those of us that you don't even know, well, it can have a major impact in ways that you will never see. I cannot tell you how much your website has helped me in understanding the 'constant mental tingling" known as transgenderism and how to learn to live with our dilemma. Your honesty, humor, and intelligence clearly jump out on every page and I enjoy reading your updates. I am going through a particularly challenging time in my life. My marriage of 12 years has dissolved and I am slowly trying to rebuild my life. I am trying my best to find balance in my journey as I feel as you do that transgenderism is about finding peace and acceptance with all parts of who we are. My biggest challenge has been building friendships as Edy and not feeling so lonely. I have been to Atlanta on several occasions to visit with Phoebe Cross. Her makeover services are exceptional but there are limitations to what she offers. Any advice you could give me on how you intentionally built friendships would be helpful. I am coming to Atlanta again in July and would love to treat you to a coffee. I know you are very busy but it never hurts to ask. Time for me to check in again. Once again, you have set up a fabulous website. Sorry to hear of your misfortune in the relationship department. Right before I met my wife I was at a point where I had dated what seemed like hundreds of girls. Some relationships were good, some bad, some ugly (haha). I did some reflecting and realized that I had been looking too hard for "Miss Right". I didn't stop looking of course. I did however ask myself the question: Would you be OK if you never got married or found the right one? My answer was surprisingly: Yeah , that wouldn't be the end of the world. It was actually freeing and liberating. In other words if it happened great but if not ......OK. It really relaxed my whole being. The next year or so was really the most fun I had had in a long while. I was a lot happier with myself. Then I met my wife and the rest is history. We've been married going on 7 years now. Challenges have popped up along the way of course. We just overcame a brain tumor this winter. She's doing great now. At any rate you seem to be in that place now where if it happens great but if not.....OK. I love your approach of filling your life with activities that you love. This will be extremely fulfilling and enriching. I think your ad was classy and did a nice job of identifying yourself and the person you're looking for. I wish you the best of luck. From what I can tell you certainly deserve it. I had an appointment scheduled with Phoebe Cross for late April but had to postpone. It was obvious to me about 3 weeks ago that I couldn't leave my wife even for a couple of days. We've since found out that caffeine was causing all kinds of problems. Since ditching the caffeine life has been wonderful at our house! Hallelujah! I went ahead and paid Phoebe for the "lost weekend". I own my own business and understand the value of someone's time. I also felt awful about "jacking up" her schedule. So I've got an appointment reserved for an as yet to be determined date. After this winter it will be very, very nice to have some "me time'. Sorry for taking up so much time. One other thing. I remember from your site that you played football in high school. Judging from your jersey # in your picture were you a guard? I ask because I was myself. 165 pounders can do that in single A West Tennessee football ( haha )! Also noticed you were in a fraternity. I was an Alpha Tau Omega how about you? I just changed careers after 27 years in TV Promotion and On-air Design. I moved to Real Estate in order to stay in Atlanta. I was glad to see 2008 go too! I'm 6'2", modestly fit, just dyed my hair too dark, but it always gets better over time, married to a doll who is the nicest women in the world and generous to me, 4 kids all grown, 50 years young and look younger (or so my friends tell me).
