You will probably never read this message but I still wanted to try and let you know that I really think that you are a very special person with a lot of great qualities. I also admire your courage and determination.You inspired me to take the first steps towards transition after waiting far too long. I couldn't help to notice that we were born on the same year (July 31st 1961). I also studied chemistry. I went to Ottawa University and majored in biology and did an extra year specializing in molecular genetics just about at the time that biotechnology was becoming a hot topic in the world. I graduated back in 1986 but quite unexpectedly ended up following a career in professional sports well into my thirties. I never thought that determination would make up for what I lacked in talent. It's suprising how passion can be a powerful catalyst in life. I spent the last several years following everyone of your entries in you journal. Your story is quite an amazing one. I often think about you and how great it would have been to have had the opportunity to meet you one day but I understand that this will have to remain a dream. I understand that you are a very busy lady. Nevertheless, I wanted to at least send you these lines to let you know how much esteem I have for you. I'm only beginning, after my first few days of reading, to appreciate how much work and time you have put into this splendid site. It is a fantastic piece of work in scope, material, and sheer wealth of information. I was just starting my military service when the Christine Jorgensen story broke, opening up all sorts of possibilities. For various reasons I never went all the way and have found a pleasant enough balance without having to transistion - partly drag queen, partly shemale, partly TV/CD. Your writings have helped to confirm my feelings on the subject. I feel that I change very frequently in my attitudes and that I should stay as I am. Very strangely, a close female friend, who has nursed transitioning patients, would have me go the whole way, but I don't feel that this is necessary. What can I possibly say to you? This is my third start at signing your dreambook. I simply cannot find the appropriate words to express my sincere gratitude for the remarkable intelligence, compassion, empathy and, above all, moral courage I find in every aspect of your web site. I am a forty-six year old, straight, happily married guy who is into the usual assortment of manly interests and pastimes. Just a few short months ago, however, I finally decided I was tired of suppressing, not understanding, hiding (endless pleasure-followed-by-purge cycles every few years since I was a teenager) and generally ignoring the very (very!) strong pull of the decidedly feminine side of my nature. And so, I came out to my wife (and myself) as an occasional cross-dresser who even cries while watching chick flicks once in a while. She accepted that, although she does not really understand it and we do not yet talk much about it. Telling her was certainly the scariest thing I have ever done - and I have been in some pretty daunting situations over the years - she is now the only person in the world, other than me, who knows my deepest secret. After coming to terms with my basic nature, I set about learning more about my situation. I found a few websites that definitely helped (along with A LOT of garbage). Yours, however, towered over all others as a source of knowledge, wisdom, insight, humour and help. With your assistance, I quickly figured out that my feelings go well beyond "mere" crossdressing, though they stop quite short of any desire to transition to life as a full-time women (at this point, anyway). And so, I now happily, confidently and proudly (though privately) consider myself a bona fide tgirl: albeit part-time. To that end, I have recently gotten much bolder whenever my wife is out of town on business. I have purchased numerous articles of women's clothing while in drab, including trying some of them on in the various stores. I've also been out shopping en femme a couple of times. I even went to a neighbourhood sports bar en femme one night (as you can well imagine, that is a whole other story :-). I apologise that this is getting so long-winded, but the reason I am telling you, and anyone else who might happen to read this note, all this is that your website has been a godsend for me. I am still very confused about exactly how all of this fits into my life, and even how far I might go in the end, but your insights, experiences, explanations and, perhaps most importantly, editorial comments have definitely helped me to cope effectively over the past couple of turbulent months. I still have a million and one questions, but thanks to your courage and honesty, I am now empowered rather than ashamed by my feelings and am eager to explore them rather than being driven to hide them. At the same time, I also appreciate and take heed of the numerous cautions you raise. Finally, I would like to tell you that, of the many wonderful things you have said on you site, nothing has helped me more than your suggestion that I am, in effect, a teenage girl learning about what it is to become a woman in our society (even if only part time). Tremendously powerful insight! Thanks ever so much. I am really looking forward to a number of the areas you are (hopefully still :-) intending to publish in the not too distant future. I wish you godspeed and sincerely hope you are able to find the time to continue this remarkable work. I have a favorite theme: "the six degrees of seperation". It refers to the fact that just about everyone in the world can "connect" with someone within six generations. It's been proven. Someone even wrote a book called "The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon". He loved it. To that end, you and I actually passed on common ground years back. I was visiting my "favs" icon on my Yahoo browser when your website URL appeared. I had saved it but forgot it was there. I started reading it. .and catching up on your life. Fascinating stuff. Riveting. Then it occurred to me that we had spent time on the phone discussing a variety of topics back when we both lived in Atlanta. I know Owensboro. You had a funny line about a pic of you as a young lad in the arms of Michael Waltrip. Seems Mikey and Darrell were your neighbors. And you were involved in some kind of revolutionary drycleaning if I recall correctly. Of course I knew of your art. We discussed that in length. I'm an artist. A writer. Former filmmaker. The best memory is one of you and a now rather famous billionaire in Texas. .in the "young Republicans" club at college. No? Oh, if he could see you now. The conversation(s) were so uplifting as I recall. . . . but we never met. We planned on it. Just never happened. The times changed. I've lived in and around Atlanta for almost 40 years now. But I found a new relationship that puts me into Tenn. I still have a house here but only come down twice a month to maintain it. Three years ago, the bottom fell out of the construction/real estate market and with it, went my business. I too plan to leave Ga. .mainly because I'm tired of it. I am a masculine male who considers himself very straight. I have a transgendered MtF friend I have known and talked with for over 10 years now. We have had relations and sex before and she is a full-time girl with a great "normal" career and enjoys socializing and performing in stage shows on occasion. She is also heavily into championing transgendered/gay rights and causes like HIV awareness. We haven't physically seen each other in many years due to circumstances and distance, but I will be traveling to spend a week with her in little over a month. I am excited and really want to have a good time and do things with her, the sexual interaction is the "frosting" on the cake and I really am interested in the relationship aspect more than a simple "sexcapade". I agree with you wholeheartedly that issues such as feeling social pressure and worrying what people would think of me being with q TG (as full time and passable as she is even) is something I have thought hard about. But I really care alot of her as a person and I am welcomingthe chance to face this head on once more and become comfortable with it going out in public with her (as I have before). I suppose I worry more for her physical safety from bigots and homophobes than anything else. I feel like I definitely have little to prove as a man having served in the military and done many "macho" guy things that many of these cowardly bigots ever have with themselves. I have some good Canadian TG friends; fellow Skorpions no less. The first was my first Facebook friend when I moved to ATL in 2007. We are seriously involved (on my end anyway), and that prompted my query. Since we (myself and TG's) aren't remotely making babies (a great perk for me), I'm wondering how I should alter my approach with respect to a meeting of "Y" chromosomes. This really falls into "Admirer" territory, and I am very much in love <3. Another TG friend recently had the experience of being walked out on (way worse than stood up) after 2 hours of preparation. She's a fellow Scorp/OX exactly half my age. She's posted some really gorgeous new photos lately, and I told her that she's beautiful and I'd never dump on her. There are loads of pictures and the like that clearly and explicitly show what a TG appears to be but precious little information about what a TG actually "is". I want to thank you for providing an insight into this. While I do find images of TG female's quite compelling (so pretty...), as time passed I became more intrigued by the people behind the images. Actually changing one's body to match one's belief of self and all the physical and spiritual trials that one must endure to accomplish that is nothing short amazing. Seriously... How are things going in Atlanta? I hope that you're doing well. What's new? I have some good news; I'm coming down to the final stretch. I only lack four more classes to get my MAcy (Masters of Accountancy) degree. It's been a challenge, but I'm glad that I stuck with it. The last semester was interesting. In our tax practice class we visited the Tax Court in San Antonio. A lady was on trial due to irregularities with her real estate firm. In our accounting class we dealth with derivatives. I could understand the put/call options, but the interest rate derivatives are still a little fuzzy. I hope to graduate in December. I'll start the job-hunting process soon. But the reason I ask is because Ive been sort of questioning myself lately about progressing into full-time or beyond. I'd like to be able to "complete" my femme look, but I'm kind of leery about the final surgeries. I'm not really sure if I want to go that far, but if I Do get to the stage that I'm almost all-girl, and have that final option, which is probably pretty likely, how will I know if I made a mistake? I've been told that I'd never be happy, but how will I know until it's too late? Ive had dozens of transition dreams, Ive watched the youtube videos, they all point to "go for it". Only thing is, Ive gone through the evaluation process before, and I backed out. There's that and the fact that I cant afford the HRT to begin with. Maybe I'm rushing things too much? what do you think?
