Comments:Charity greyhounds attacked by loose collie cross

We are appealing for information on the identity of a woman and her uncontrolled collie which attacked without provocation two greyhounds belonging to the charity while fundraising in Pontypridd town centre on Friday July 2nd 2010

Founder and chairman of the Charity, Sam Graham who was attending the event said “the collie came out of nowhere instantly focusing its attack on our two dogs who were under control with collars and leads and who could not properly defend themselves”
“As always, the usual generosity of the people of Ponty was overshadowed when Joe a black & white 4 year old male and Belle, a 3 year old black female were set upon by this lady’s seemingly uncontrollable collie”. “The animal, which neither had a lead or a collar on was allowed to blatantly attack two perfectly friendly, and harmless dogs. Not only were both dogs attacked but both Jan and myself came under a barrage of abuse regarding our two greyhounds from this woman.” “At this point” said Mr Graham, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the group of young lads who came to our aid and rendered assistance to Belle, Joe, Jan and myself.”
“We would appreciate the assistance of anyone who witnessed this incident to find out who this woman and her dog are, the authorities can then be notified and appropriate action taken.”

If anyone has any information they can give us please either telephone or email the Charity.

Many thanks

Comments:Great to see everyone at Roath Park yesterday for our 1st Greyhound Step Out of 2010 and wonderful to see so many new owners some coming great distances.
Some of the highlights of the day was to welcome some new potential adopters Angela who came to meet Rosie and Paul & Mandy who brought Duke to meet Hafti, another was to see Paco looking so well after his recent life threatening illness and another was to see my special boy Bannon - and yes I admit it there was a wee tear to see him look so good.

Comments:Just wanted to thank-you for our Sol - he truly is a blessing!

He's a big goof-ball - loves playing but loves roaching just as much!

He's brilliant with the kids and is good with the cats (although they don't like him yet!)

He's lovely to cwtch up to and gives the best hugs ever!

...and the 'Welcome home' he gives hubby everynight is a sight to be believed! LOL! I really should film it - it's spectacular! You'd think he's been away for weeks! LOL!

I can't begin to tell you how much happiness he brings us everyday...

Thank-you for such an amazing dog x

Comments:Massive thank you to Liz and Sam for bringing Casper into our family in October 1997. He took a little while to settle in but is now a massive big part of family life and the things he does make us smile every day!!! It's like having another teenager in the house. He didn't bark for a long time and has just suddenly found his voice and looks very surprised when the deep sound comes out of his mouth. We all love hime to pieces and are thinking of getting a little girl greyhound to go with him. Everyone should have a greyhound in their lives!!! xxx

Comments:Everyone at Rescued Racers was upset to learn of the passing of Bob & Nancy Mitchell’s big brindle boy Toby. He had been diagnosed with Bone Cancer and their time with him was short. Our thoughts are with you both at this sad time.

Comments:My names Reggie and I went to my new home today. Two humans called Liz and Chris feed me and take me for walks, my tail wags a lot when I see them and they give me cuddles. Another dog called Banon lives with us too, she is small and a bit grumpy, she was nasty to me yesterday so I pulled some of her hair out, she’s not talking to me now I don’t know why, perhaps it’s because I have the biggest, softest bed.

In the afternoon I fell in this big bowl of water with gold things swimming around me, Liz had to lift me out, we both got very wet. I was only trying to get the tasty food floating on top of the water. I don’t think I’ll bother again.

In the evening I chewed my lead up, Chris wasn’t pleased and she told me off, I just wagged my tail and she patted me, I know how to get around her. Maybe she’ll take me out without a lead now and I’ll be able to run and run and run. But I did hear Liz saying something about an old lead in the cupboard, oh well.

Apparently I’m not supposed to go to the toilet in the house. I found that out yesterday when I wee’d on what I thought was a tree, well how am I supposed to know what a conservatory is, seemed like the garden to me. Anyway I didn’t do it again and held in lots of wee’s all night until Liz let me out this morning, she seemed really pleased so I’ll keep trying with that. It’s best to keep on the humans good side I find. I just need to charm that little dog Banon now, I wonder want I can do?

If you want to see photos of us we are in the Hound Homed section of this web site. I’ll let you know more about how we all get on next week.

Wags, Reggie X

Comments:At the end of last summer, we met and fell in love with Spot, a big boy who was being fostered at my daughter and son-in-law's home while his foster family was on vacation. What a wonderful young guy! A shy, frightened man at first, Spot, now Sir William, has blossomed into a confident, self-assured greeter to our guests. Aftr having Labs for over 30 years, I admit that Will presented an interesting challenge, but all three of us are learning every day. He no longer fears abandonment; he knows he has his forever home.
Thank you, Rescued Racers, for endowing us with the gift of Will.

Comments:Just wanted to say a big thank you again for bringing Barley to us. He is the most amazing greyhound! He is great with our cats and is now great off lead in the park where he loves meeting other dogs of all shapes and sizes. He is just like my first greyhound,Lucky...who i lost to cancer a few years ago. I never thought i would have another like her, but he is just the same and we all love him dearly. We will never be without one of these beautiful, gentle dogs again.
