This was because the irish had colonised/populated it as well as most of britian before the anglo/saxons moved in and pushed them back to what is now scotland and wales, before the romans arrived. So while youre busy stuck in that self inflicted state of siege mentality and driven completely paronoid of anything remotely irish or catholic, you loyalists ulstermen can ponder the fact that youre all/mostly of irish stock and indeed probably a more pure line of irish blood than many of youre southern neighbours (especially in leinster). On an added note if you are going to wallow in that anti-catholic dementia you might also ponder the fact that most people in the republic these days are less than arsed about the whole catholic/religious bullshit inflicted on us since birth. Sick of the stifling control of the church, the sickening hypocrisy of their members/clergy etc, the years of censorship, interference in our lives (not to mention them interfeering with our children) and all the other horseshit heaped upon us by them over the past century in particular. irish people have finally managed to break free in from this strangle hold and the country has begun to assert itself in its own right. The southern state has in spite of church dogma and indeed british interference, dragged inself into the 21st century bloodied and scarred but here. If you guys managed to do the same by finaly taking that (not so giant)leap out of the past or at the very least if you took your heads out of youre arses just long enough to see the light , then you could do the same. And youd realise that ireland has become a secular, open society where,catholics, protestans, jews, muslims, etc are living side by side wihtout giving a shit who the other guy is praying to. No matter what youre english chums drivel on about, ireland will inevitably be united and out of the control of britian. Filmed extras include: the 11th Night Celebrations on the Newtownards Road(East Belfast), selected bands returning home (some in fancy dress!), District 6 walking home (filmed on the Lisburn Road) and LOL 592 leaving the Worshipful Masters House. Historical/cultural extras include: historical context, Battle of the Boyne, Siege of Derry, Battle of Aughrim and so on. There's also biographies of William III, James II and others. The DVD is in full colour and is configured to play anywhere in the world. It has all the normal features of a commercially available DVD. Therefore, you can click on the likes of Markethill and get info about the parade there. The DVD costs £18.00 (which includes p & p). I am a member of the LOL-USA and a member of the ABOD in Ulster and had the honour to march in the Portadown ABOD Easter Monday parade in 1996. And made my first Walls of Derry march this past August in Londonderry. My ancestor, Johne MacRanald (now spelled McReynolds), Jr., was in the Siege of Derry in 1688-89 and another ancestor, Anthony McReynolds, of Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Ulster was one of the first Orangemen after the Battle of the Diamond. I also give talks at schools, civic groups, Churches, historic groups, etc. here in the Colonies about the LOL, Ulster history, Unionism, etc. I also have an Orange Order and ABOD display of some jewels, badges, etc. that I display when I speak to the groups and at Highland games and historic events. Many of my old McReynolds kinsmen were Orangemen in Co. Tyrone, in Dungannon and the Stewartstown area.
