I came to your site looking at patterns but have to say how lovely it was to browse your grammar page!
I agree on all accounts. In Australia we have an even more despicable grammar lapse, written and spoken..."yous" or "youse" (cringe). Some people seem to think this is the correct way to address a group of people, as in "what are youse doing today?". It's all bad I'm afraid :)

I go on another website called Sparkpeople.com and someone has asked what others are doing as far as 'going green' is concerned. So I mentioned about making my own sanitary towels/menstrual napkins and I told them about your website, as that is were I got the pattern from.

The reusable/washable sanitary towel pattern is brilliant. I've made 10 so far and another 11 are ready to sew up as I type. I'll get the number up to 2 dozen and hopefully stop, but they're so easy to make I'll probably end up making them till they come out my ears.

Thanks

What a lovely and helpful site you have, and what a great philosophy. I wish I could have found it 14 years ago when I was preparing for the arrival of this: http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk/KatePages/Sewing_Projects/Boy%20stuuf/Jeans/athemachine.JPG

:D :D (He was making a pair of jeans, last August)

I have no wish to make baby slings for a living (I tend to stick to historic costumes and wedding frippery!), but it is great to find someone so willing to share their philosophy, their ideas, and their instructions. I might create a one-off now and again as a prezzy... The delightful Goddaughter is 20, after all!

I do have a baby changing bag pattern I drew up when a friend needed one that was small, neat, and still big enough for what baby needed plus an A4 file and a spare pair of undies... Ever the teacher! ;) Do let me know if you would like a copy.

If the page of baby sling patterns and other stuff (reuseable grocery bags!) wasn't enough to keep me around (and it was!), the grammar page would have hooked me from the start. And then, of all glorious wonders, I find out you're an atheist AND you agreed with the war in Afghanistan but not in Iraq. How much better can it get!?

Oh wait, I forgot the nerdly humor, which had me grinning like the complete dork I am!

I wasn't going to say hi, but all those factors combined made me stop lurking to say "Howdy." (I currently hail from Texas, where "Howdy" has become my standard greeting).

I'm an atheist, a grammatical elisist (according to my husband), a brand spanking new seamstress and an Army wife who mostly agrees with your politics. Your commentary in response to the negative feedback in your guestbook reminded me of this post on my blog sometime last year (I thought you would appreciate it): http://sissyben.blogspot.com/2007/03/apparently-i-dont-support-troops.html.

Thank you for your site, for the patterns, your time and efforts. I'll post pictures on my blog of anything I make from here and link my readers to you. One of my kind readers gave me a sewing machine for my birthday this year after I posted that I really wanted one. Now I have to make something really cool so that it's all worthwhile!

Ok, I shall now end the longest, most convoluted guestbook commentary ever. I really hope I didn't make any unintentional major grammatical mistakes (I do make them at times, but usually on purpose because they make me laugh), but if I did, feel free to point and laugh.

Hope you have a great day!

Jan, thank you so much for this website! When I found out last June that I was pregnant with my son, I had never heard of sling carriers, but then in October I saw a woman with her toddler in one, and she pointed me to Mayawrap.com....I found your page from theirs, and the rest is history! I've made two sling carriers, and I'm back for instructions on a ring wrap, my baby is only 3.5 months old and already 16 pounds, too heavy for just one shoulder. I really appreciate the time you've taken to make this site, and I plan to tell all my mom friends about it!

Found your website by searching for water bottle carrier. I am learning to sew a little and adopted your idea for the loop to a water bottle carrier that someone had made for me.

Then I saw the wonderful things on your website. I'll have to come back to get more ideas of things to make. I made a car seat cover for our daughter last year when she was four and she loved it (used Disney Princess pattern).

Wish I knew about the baby carrier etc.

Was searching for a pattern for a grocery cart cover - not for a baby, but because I've been reading too much about all the germs lurking on shopping carts. I just got a sewing machine, and as soon as I learn how to use it, this will be my first project; I've never sewed before.

But it was the grammar that kept my interest: as a former foreign language teacher, I learned English grammar basically through the study of foreign languages. Then I became a grammar nut, an obnoxious one, to boot (I correct far too many people!). English grammar is barely taught in school in the U.S., and it's (apostrophe ess) lamentable.
Thanks for a fun hour.

I love your website. My daughter has a work related injury(reflex sympathetic dystrophy) and has suffered chronic pain for several years. I made her some of your slings for Christmas and she loves them since they don't put pressure on her shoulders and are very comfortable. They aren't only good for Moms but also for people in her condition.
THANK YOU!!!

I am trying to copy someones old M.E.C. (Mountain Equipment Co-op) bunting suit to recreate on in a larger size for a child who's outgrown theirs. I'm stumped on one part of the construction involving the zipper baffle-
and a pattern would really help me out!
It's the double zipper type with full arms and legs, a hood and flip over sleeve ends (for hands only.

Do you sell your diaper/wipe product or just the pattern. I am not a sewer, but would love to have one. You mentioned e-bay, do you sell them there?

Was researching baby slings. There're so many types! Thank you for the Grammar Page. The their, they're and two, too have always come easily to me; the possessive, however, has always been a thorn in my side! I didn't realize that there are no "s'." So now I know that "'s" is to be used when I want to express something belonging to someone, as in her's, correct? In my second sentence the "there're" is underlined by the spell check; is it incorrectly used?
Thanks again!!

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of baby crafts with those of us who have a more diminutive knowledge of baby crafts. Or should I say HAD? :) Many of the ideas on your site have led me to say to myself, "Self, DUH! Why didn't you already think of that?" Thanks again for sharing the wealth!

Also, congratulations on your most recent addition!
