Hello. I have had your page bookmarked for sometime before I had my son. I wanted to make a sling, but didn't find time until he was around 9 mo, due to various projects and full time learning to be a first time mom. I made mine with brown denim with a pink and brown ribbon. The only issue I've had with it is, when I load the rings, my denim turns right side in, and you can no longer see the ribbon I put on the bottom. Is there anyway to load the rings, see the right side, and still have it functional. When I tried to flip the fabric so I could see the trim, it wouldn't pull through the rings. I don't want to cut the end off and sew it back, which would work for the effect I want, but would weaken the whole sling at a stress point. If I have to just "deal with it" I can, but I would like it to look like I planned. Otherwise, I love it. It's sturdy, and holds my active 12 mo. old well, for as long as he puts up with it. I would really appreciate it if you would get back to me at safezone14@yahoo.com.
I'm planning to take a road trip soon, and would like to make your high chair sling next. I was looking for a portable high chair when I saw your pattern for tying one on to an adult chair. I'm looing forward to trying it next.
Keep up the fun projects. I love stopping by to see what else I can do.

We are planning a trip to the zoo and I wanted to make/find a mai tei that would work best for her, any suggestions? I looked over the ones on your site and love love love all of them, but I thought you might have some insight to help save me some time. Thank you for your awesome patterns! I made myself a mei tai from your "Frankencozy" pattern, after adjusting for my body, and I love, love, love it. I used a repurposed shirt that had beautiful fabric but an unflattering cut, so I never wore it. Now it is a beautiful carrier I use every day! My son is 13 months old and too heavy to "sling" for long! Our Maya wrap has served us well through two babies, but the Asian carrier makes it *really* comfortable to wear a toddler. I never figured out how to comfortably wear a baby on my back with the Maya wrap; I always seemed to give myself a plugged duct, so I stopped trying. With the mei tai, the baby feels so secure on my back, and although I didn't realize this was possible he'll happily ride on my back while I work (today, for example, making laundry detergent, which takes lots of stirring). So thank you for your awesome variety of easy-to-follow patterns! I'm now working on one (a gift!!) for a friend's newborn.

It is awesome to see such support for breastfeeding, babywearing, and handmade stuff. Keep up the good work! I am tickled by your refusal to offer patterns for things like car seat covers. You are right, babies don't belong in car seats unless they're riding in the car.

I have been reading through your page and it looks as though you are a very talented person. I do have to admit that you seem a bit jaded and nearly all of your posts have a negative undertone. There seems to be many snide remarks about the theft of your original patterns and the hurdles that must be overcome to be successful. You should bask in your talent and success! Inspire others to do this as well! Good luck.
You're right, I do tend to sound thus. Honestly, it's because I've had this information up for almost 9 years, since my son was born, and in that time, I've had patterns stolen and sold on eBay, my sling design ripped off more than once, and lots of people emailing me to tell me I'm going to hell :) All three do tend to conspire to make me a little, well, pessimistic. Running a business *is* hard work. People who tell you otherwise probably don't actually have a business :) I got into this very naively, and I want to be honest with my readers. If you have a hobby you want to make into a business, great! But don't go into it thinking it'll be easy money or that you'll have plenty of time to spend on other stuff. A home business is incredibly time-consuming. Just ask my kids. I keep going because I love what I do, but there have been plenty of times I would have thrown in the towel if not for that love.

I think it's hilarious that you post content on the internet and then warn people againist using it. Your page is a little ridiculous comsidering half of it is disclaimer. You must be super paranoid to think someone's going to steal your patterns or your bandwidth. I laughed for a good while after I read that.

Glad you had a good laugh.

The disclaimers are there because I have had numerous people take the free content from my website and then sell it as though it were their own.

Do you know how that feels? To have something you worked on for hours, with no pay, then be sold by someone else for their profit? It sucks. But I still want to provide the content. What's my choice? The only thing I can do is put up the disclaimers and hope that they will dissuade assholes from stealing my content and profiting from it.

If you think that's funny, I'm guessing you've never been in that situation.
