| Comments: | Your influence on a whole generation of young movie goers seems to be a running theme here. It's not surprising since you were the best. This Island Earth was a turning point in my childhood. The movie was a revelation. I have fond memories of seeing it with my three best friends at the Vogue Theatre on Hollywood Blvd and then recreating our favorite scenes in the back yard. I was always Cal because I was the tallest. Thank you for making my childhood wondrous. |

| Comments: | Dear Mr. Reason,
I'm a big sci-fi fan and I'm particularly fond of the classics. This Island Earth is a favorite of mine that I, and my kids, have watched many times over the years. Dr. Cal Meacham is the quintessential "super scientist" of the sci-fi movie golden era, and you played that role very well. I'm going to be displaying your autographed photo in my home theater room. I wish you and your family the very best of health and happiness. Take care. |

| Comments: | Hi Rex. I just watched your movie Raw Edge last night on cable OnDemand. I have recently relocated to Oregon, and so the premise of the film piqued my interest. I can't remember ever hearing about you, but your role, good looks, and excellent voice made a real impression on me, and so I looked you up today. The movie was raw and scary, in a lawless western way, and now I can't wait to see This Island Earth. I wish you would have continued making films, I think you were an excellent actor. Thank you. |

| Comments: | Mr. Reason,
I have been a great fan of yours for years. This Island Earth is my all-time favorite 50s sci-fi film (I also had a crush on Faith Domergue). I collect 50s sci-fi videos and have multiple copies of TIE. I guess I want back-ups in case I wear out DVDs. In any event, I was happy to find some news on the Internet that you are doing well and finding the time to sign autographs. I hope I get the chance to see you at one of your events and get an autograph (and maybe a picture together). Take care. |

I sincerely hope this finds you well. I'm so pleased to find this site and tell you what a great fan I am of your work. I just purchased "This Island Earth" from TCM, and watch it regularly. I saw it as a child at the "drive-in" with my family, and it scared the heck out of me! But it left a memory I'll never forget. A great memory of great movies. For many years I'd hoped a reunion of you, Russell, Jeff and of course the beautiful Faith would take place. But, of course, that won't be. So very glad to have this opportunity to say hello and tell you how much I loved that film. Please keep well and all the very best to you and yours. |

| Comments: | One last thing and I promise I won't darken your doorstep again....Did you ever think of going to Lone Pine for the Lone Pine Western Film Festival? Now, you may think Im crazy but they put on a parade and quite a festival of all the old western movie stars from the 50's 60's and I think the 70's. And there aren't too many around anymore. I truly wish you and your wife would give this some thought. You could would love just participating in such an event, I'm sure. My husband and I go up every year for the past 15 years. Ernest Borgnine was supposed to be the grand marshall last year but he was not able to make it. I know it is getting harder and harder to get you older stars interested in such a venture but I do wish you would give it some thought. I would love to see you and your wife riding on a float down the middle of Lone Pine, California!! Perhaps some of your movies were made up there in the Alabama Hills...many many westerns were.
Please consider and if you do so, please let me know. An admirer, Judy Kelley Brea, California Jykell@aol.com |

| Comments: | Hello Rex, what an honor it is to be able to talk to you, even through email. I began researching my favorite actors / actresses a short while ago and I found You - WOW! What an awesome surprise, you are a legend, I absolutely love you as an actor, your characters, and every film of yours I've every seen. I would love to meet you in person one day, maybe soon. I spent 15 years in the Hollywood film business myself, not as an actor though, I owned a Hollywood Set Construction & Design Co, I did mostly horror films from 1980-1995, I worked as an extra to begin with-to get to know the right people, I was born and raised in Southern California, and I kind of grew up in the entertainment business. My favorite films of yours are "The Creature Walks Among Us and This Island Earth" I own both of these, I know I would love and watch every film and TV show you've ever performed-if I could only purchase the rest of you feature films, I was wondering about your brother Rhodes-do you talk to him? I loved his character also-in "Voodoo Island" You both have absolutely great acting persona's, power, prestige, and quality and you both look so much alike. The first time I viewed Voodoo Island, I thought > he was you. I immediately looked this up, found out you had a brother. I wish I could cast you in one of my up-n-coming feature films, I am filming and directing my first feature this fall 2009. It is nice to chat with you-over the email, please email me when you have a moment. Thank you very much Rex for the time, happy birthday-little late, keep up your site-its wonderful.

| Comments: | Rex: I have admired you since I was 10,when I first saw T I E.Also liked seeing you in Star Trek as Flavius. When that episode first ran back in 1967 on TV,I immediately hollered out in the living room, "There's Cal Meacham!" My other star trek friends would dream up scenarios where Cal got stuck in a wormhole and landed on the planet, and Kirk and Spock stumbled across you.Didn't like you getting killed in that episode, however.Happy
birthday and wishing you all the best. Thanks for the great films you made for us. Robert |

THIS ISLAND EARTH is one of my favorite Sci-Fi films. Like 2 other favorites, (original) THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, and FORBIDDEN PLANET, it was a very well-done, intelligent, and well-acted film. You were terrific in the film. I like your website, and wish you and your wife many more happy years. |

Rex celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday, November 30, 2008 with an intimate, quiet dinner with his wife Shirley. His family all celebrated his birthday a few days before at his home for a big family Thanksgiving Dinner and Birthday party, so he received gifts with his turkey dinner! We celebrate Rex on the Rex Reason website! Cheers, Don |

| Comments: | I first watched This Island Earth in early 1970’s when I was 10 years old. It has featured strongly in my mind ever since.
I liked the main characters Cal, Ruth, and Exeter and remember being on tenterhooks hoping they would escape the war-ravaged Metaluna and return safely to Earth, (This Island Earth), which they did, although sadly, Exeter didn’t make it. I have watched the film avidly, each time it has been repeated on TV every few years. I videoed it early in the 1980’s, and now, own the film recently released on DVD. The film to me, and I am sure many others, is the ultimate science fiction fantasy thriller. Along with its great special effects, glossy colour, and off-the-earth-technology, there is a tension running throughout the film which reminds me a little of a Hitchcock thriller. It is this tension along with the characters and the film as a whole which have always kept me riveted to the screen. I am sure the film will be restored one day to even better condition. I would like to thank you for contributing so much to the film, and to thank Kent for running a great website. Eddie England U.K. |

| Comments: | Greetings to all Rex Reason fans!
Now available on private DVD - for a limited time! STORM OVER TIBET (Columbia Pictures, 1952) Starring Rex Reason in his first starring role in a motion picture. Co-starring Diana Douglas (wife of Kirk Douglas and mother of Michael Douglas), Myron Healey, and Strother Martin. A Summit Production, Produced by Ivan Tors & Laszlo Benedek. Directed by Andrew Marton. Music by Arthur Honegger and Leith Stevens. Filmed in 1951. In my film review for this movie on the Imdb, I called this classic B-movie "A minor-league LOST HORIZON using some of the same film footage Frank Capra used in his classic 1937 film. This footage was filmed in 1933 by Dutch explorer R. Dyrenfurth when he attempted to climb to the top of Mount Everest in the Himalayas, only to have to abort his attempt when an avalanche almost claimed the lives of him and his entire entourage." What's interesting about it, is that in both Capra's LOST HORIZON, and Ivan Tors' STORM OVER TIBET, Ronald Colman and Rex Reason are the same person in the long shots - an unknown, unidentified stunt actor in the 1933 film footage. The original footage was intended for an unfinished 1934 film documentary of Dyrenfurth's expedition, and then he sold it as stock footage to Columbia Pictures in the mid-1930s. Both Capra and Tors wisely intercut the old footage with new studio and location scenes for their own productions. From a clear, clean, splice-free 16mm Columbia-Screen Gems 1960s TV print. NOT available from Sony-Columbia Video. Clean transfer to new DVD-R with printed label. B&W,90 MIN. See the young 23-year-old Rex Reason in his first Hollywood film role! As a longtime fan and friend of RR, I have always enjoyed this film for Rex's superior acting and fine performance. His narration sounds like that of Stewart Granger. What a shame this gem isn't available on home video! I am only making this available to the public through this special offer because, although it is a bootleg product, it is not available from the source. Price: $12.95 plus shipping & handling of $2.05 = $15.00 total. Please send U.S. Postal money orders ONLY to: Don J. Long - P.O. Box 292587, Los Angeles, CA. 90029 |

I would play in the backyard with Chris, I think that was your stepsons name. You once gave me a ride in your Corvette, think it was red/white w/screens over the headlights. I once asked you after seeing one of your movies, I belive it was "Smoke Signal" why you weren't hurt when you were pushed off of the cliff. I was only seven or eight, you said it was trick photography,I was concerned. I've tried to keep track of your career since the 60's. If you know how Joan is doing I'd like to know, so I can tell my Mother. I believe they last saw each other in the early 70's.

Back when it was real science fiction - to some, a bit hokey - to others, science fiction at its best. Not like modern day Sci-Fi attempts that use special effects in marvelous, spectacular ways yet short-circuit our imaginations. I have an idea - Didn't Michael Rennie say the robot would return in "The Day the Earth Stood Still?" Rex Reason would be perfect in the re-make! Can you figure out WHY someone has never made a sequel? I mean, cut me some slack. Rex, let's do this! |

| Comments: | One of my favorite actors, from This Island Earth to the Roaring 20's. My late daughter Kim had a chance to work with Rex when she was a Drama student at Mt. San Antonio College and Rex was preparing for a project. Nice man who we have missed seeing on the screen for too long. |

I really like the movie. It's called "Metaluna 4 antwortet nicht" ("Metaluna 4 doesn't answer") here in Germany. Guess I will watch it again this evening. Rex, maybe you've never been a true Movie Star, but you did good work. Thank you! |

| Comments: | I lived next door to Rex and Shirley from 1994 to 1996.
What a nice couple! On more than one occasion, I was invited inside their home where Rex had numerous posters of movies he was in hanging on the walls. He lovingly recollected memories with me from each and every movie as if the movie screened yesterday!! Hi Rex- Hope all is well!! Do you remember me?? |

| Comments: | I worked on his computer once at Best Buy. He had Reagan-ese hair and movie star looks, so I asked him if he'd been on TV or the movies. He replied that he did and gave me a bit of history from his most popular movie, "This Island Earth." He couldn't stop speaking about how good the other actors were, showing his modesty. I asked him for a signed photograph and he actually came back and gave me one! Really nice guy, I wish him well.

| Comments: | I just finished watching 'This Island Earth' on dvd and discovered this website when doing a search on the actors. I wish the other actors were around now too for me to express my appreciation. Jeff Morrow was fabulous. My biggest laugh in the movie was during the high-society dinner scene when nobody except the movie audience suspected that Exeter and Brack were aliens, with their raised foreheads, differing skin complexion, and youngish-grey hair. Very intelligent makeup job. The writers captured a lot of good imagination and integrated it well into the story.
Rex Reason seems like a very gifted individual who was not only chosen well for the plot, but who also generously gave of himself to do it thereby greatly benefitting the sci-fi genre. Palo Alto, CA |

| Comments: | Just finished viewing "This Island Earth" for about the zillionth time. I've viewed it many times, but finally purchased the DVD. The DVD is excellent quality with the possible exception of the audio, but I'm sure that's due to the technical abilities of the time the film was produced. I've always enjoyed any of Rex's films and am happy to know that he is still among us. I want to wish him well and let him know that I am still a fan of his work. I hope he lives to be very ancient in age, because I know his spirit is still strong. |
