Comments:WOW, nice site. Read many of the comments here. Been at it since 2001 huh? Any updates on this wonderful show and the stubborness behind not releasing it to DVD? Has anyone contacts Zwick or Herskovitz regarding releasing? Do they even still own it? There is a listing for the Beford Falls Company. Has there been a legit letter writing appeal? Thanks for any info you might have.

Comments:This site rocks Bob! I found it right after coming across all the eipisodes I recorded on beta tape, but had no listing for, am going to transfer them to dvd. Things pointed out (like the California episodes in last season) I thought only I wondered about. I thought I heard a buzz about a reunion show on one of the talk shows a couple years back, but sounds like the whole cast is pretty busy.

Comments:Here I am again. My longing for this series on dvd is now even more pronounced. Reading episode guides again, really did me in. Like most everyone else, my videos of this series crapped out many moons ago. I did tape a few episodes when Bravo ran it back in 2001. Those were erased by me though, intentionally. Remember how awful they were on Bravo. First off they were all narrated and frequently intruded on by Candace Bushnell, a charming wonderful woman I'm sure, but so miserably clueless as to the magic of Thirtysomething. Her intros, and cutesy splices of her into certain episodes was just painful to watch. Not to mention they edited out minutes of each episode to accommodate her silliness. I wrote in to TV Guide to ask if they had any recent information on a dvd release date. Unfortunately they had not heard anything. Really!!! There must be someone we can contact, not only who knows what the status is on a release date, but whom we can express our concerns that it be released RIGHT! Most notably, the complete original episodes, uncut. And for god's sake leave the music as is, pay whatever royalties you have to these artists to keep the rights to using thier music. (could we stand to lose Van Morrison and "Tupelo Honey" in the background as Hope and baby Janey do a little dance around the living room?) So Bob, please make some noise, make some connections with those writers and such, and see if this ball can get moving. Many thanks again for this site.

Comments:The site is amazing, so glad I found it. So what is the scoop with the dvd release? This is September 2007, 20th anniversary of the show, surely a good time to release it. I dread the thought however that some of the music would be edited out. So much of it is amazing, such as Stevie Nicks singing "Blue Eyes" as Elliot, and Nancy have a little dance around the living room...breathtaking! I don't want a reunion of any kind, movie, or mini-series. Leave it be. Name me one reunion show that lived up to expectation. Remember Mary and Rhoda...yikes! Bob, it seems website needs an update. Interviews from 98. How about some new ones. Thanks so much for site, so nice to know people have such a shared passion for this show. All the best Bob.

It was - and still is - a terrific show, with outstanding production values. The writing was excellent and the performances from all were first rate. I am amazed that none of the cast has achieved further recognition. caught Mel Harris on 'House' recently, playing the mother of a teenager - she still looks great, and the voice hadn't changed at all. Yes, 'fiftysomething' could be cool :)

Comments:In just one hour in Spain they are going to air the last episode of Thirtysomething "California". it will be 3:23 A.M. but i am still awake only to see it and record it. I think this show has influenced many people´s lives. When i finish the last episode it will be like the beginning of a new life for me, the best things is yet to come i hope. It is the third time that i watched the show and i suppose i will watch it again in 15 or 20 years, if i have the chance. Now i am thirtysomething and i would like to find true people like the one in the show. Specialy something so good person as Gary, i am sure many teachers or writers have in their credits having him as their mentor. I wish i would be such an amazing person. But being friend of Michael would be cool also! What a pair of actors, they are my favs. Thanks Peter, thanks Ken (yesterday i saw an Alias with the Olin direction and was superb, continue doing good jobs), and thanks all the members of thirtysomething family, specialy the great writers. An thanks to you Bob for maintain this site alive. People can read about it over and over again. Greetings from Spain and Good Night! and good luck for mr. Clooney

Comments:thirtysomething was the show we most enjoyed in the late 80's. It weekly presented a depiction of very real life events that seemed to mirror our lives at the time. We went through marriage, work and career pressures, religious issues, single friend issues and the typical kinds of concerns that thirtysomething married couples go through. The show developed a cynical reputation that it was all about whining yuppies. We never saw it that way (we are both from working class families). What we liked was the show's willingness to deal with important but politically unpopular issues for 60 minutes. Would like to see it on DVD again and view it from an older perspective.

There are so many good episodes to choose from, but the one scene that always sticks in my mind is the ending scene after Gary has passed on and Susan thinks back to a simplier time...and then you see her tears thru the snow/ice covered windshield..and then drives away - chilling. Come back Michael, Hope, Elliot, Nancy, Ellen, Melissa, Gary, Miles, Janey, Brittney, Ethan et al....we miss you

Gets you right back in the episode - that was one of the first shows I remember that really intensified the emotion with the music....effectively and beautifully. There is also an opportunity to request that the series be released on DVD if you search for Thirtysomething dvd on Amazon - you can check off to be notified if it comes out AND check off that you would like to see it on DVD. I don't believe it's shown right now on any of the million cable/satellite stations either. Hopefully they'll realize what a quality "gem" they've got stashed and pull it out again.

Anybody out there who has copies that they would be willing to sell / exchange that would be able to be viewed on TV in the UK? Comments:Hi all Thirtysomething fans! Glad to see there are quite a few out there (still). Now that I'm fortysomething, how I would love to see this show released on DVD so that I can reminisce of an earlier time when I could related to the shows on TV. I was/is in advertising so I was very connected to antics of Michael & Elliott. Miles was "right on" as an ad agency exec. I did find someone on ebay who was selling VHS copies of the Lifetime episodes of the show in it's entirety, but of course it's not like having the full set on DVD - but better than nothing! Why is it that my 2 favorite series of all time are not available in its entirety on DVD - Ally McBeal and Thirtysomething. Oh yeah, you can get Ally with Chinese subtitles and PAL format, but it's worthless in the US! There must be some reason why they're not producing it - whatever the reason, it stinks!

Comments:Finally...I have found some other Thirtysomething fanatics!!! There has to be a way to get this show released on DVD. I know that there have been some very successful grassroots efforts to get shows with strong following released on dvd. A show called "Freak & Geeks" that was cancelled after one season is now out on dvd as a result of a huge internet campaign and central website (http://www.freaksandgeeks.com/home.shtm) that lobbyed the studio to release it. This was a way of proving to them that people would buy it. A similar effort is underway for a show called "The Wonder Years." Any ideas on how we can get started? What studio owns the rights?

Comments:Thanks for the interesting "Thirtysomething" website. I loved the show, the characters, and the stories. Just a bit of trivia...I'm reasonably certain that the real life house used for the exteriors in "Thirtysomething" was located in South Pasadena, California...A town I used to live in. South Pasadena was also the location of another famous TV home, for the Spelling-Goldberg TV series "Family," (`76-`80) with James Broderick, Sada Thompson, Kristy McNichol, Meredith Baxter, and Gary Frank. I know, I used to work for the production company, and loved the location so much, that I rented an apartment nearby! "Family" was also another favorite TV series of mine. Gee, if I could only get these two TV series on DVD, along with "Highway Patrol," with Broderick Crawford, (from the 50's), I'd be a happy man! Gary Myers

Comments:Great site Bob and very useful. I've just moved house and reluctantly had to get a new cable system hooked up with different channels. I got home from work last night, thought I would watch 'Enterprise' but fortunately flicked on to the second page of channels.I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the word 'Thirtysomething' listed on a channel called FTN. It was episode 11 (Therapy) of the first series and it appears to be on every week night. That's my weeknights at 8pm tied up for the next few months. The only question is what will I do when 'Once and Again' comes back on again?

Comments:I, like so many round here, loved this show. It got better & better as time went by. I liked Michael & Hope episodes the least. They were a dull cliche of a married couple. Actually I hated them & wouldn't bother watching episodes that focused on them. I thought the Melissa episodes were the strongest...especially during the Lee period. There was something so real about their relationship. Mayron brought a great warmth & sensitivity to her character. Also liked Ellyn's episodes a lot. She too was so real & VERY funny. In the earlier episodes her voice was annoying...trying so hard to be sexy & failing miserably. The female stars (apart from Hope) were better than the male...the male characters tended to be too self-conscious (especially Michael's friendship with Garry, when those two were together I'd hold my breath with the embarrasment of it all. Remember how they always seemed to be doing things as they said their lines & Garry's annoyingly fake grin?)...apart from the red headed actor...who was excellent & brought great depth to his role. But all in all...this is one of my all time favorite shows...

Comments:Good site. I really must wonder why bravo pulled this show. I think it's more that people inthe 90s are less interested in the issues that it brought out. I also wonder why this show has become such a phenomenon. For me it's a vicarious way of experiencing the family and relationships that can be so elusive in one's thirties. The characters walk a tightrope between their hearts and the demands of material life where the former often becomes lost. The characters deal with mistakes and triumphs with intelligence and sensitivity. I'm pretty sure that many of the 30's somethings fan club are still seraching themselves to walk this tight rope.

Comments:I am very excited to find this site! Does anyone know if there is ANY WAY to purchase tapes of the UNCUT shows (i.e. the original shows, not the versions edited by Lifetime and Bravo)? I tuned in to the show only in its later years, and would love to obtain copies of the shows from the first two seasons. I signed up for cable last month, hoping to catch the shows on Bravo - but the series has been pulled - much to my dismay! Any information would be appreciated! Especially now that I am well entrenched as a 30-something (I just turned 35), the show has even greater resonance than when I watched it in college!!!! Thanks!

I'm looking to acquire a compilation video of a lot of material (perhaps on an 8 or 10 hour video VHS tape) of Melissa (Melanie Mayron). I'm interested in any episodes where she is the main storyline -- particularly dealing with her dating/boyfriends. Comments:Bob, Sadly, I think you may be right. However, I find it hard to believe that St. Elsewhere and Hillstreet Blues (now airing 3 times a day) have that much more of a following. The way Bravo kept moving thirtysomething around on the schedule made me wonder if they were going to air the show long enough to complete the first run of episodes. On a positive note, I have a feeling that Bravo will air the show again before permanently shelving it. Anyway, to all my brothers and sisters in angst, it was great (except for Bushnell) while it lasted.

Comments:Seems likely to me that the cynical episode introductions by Candace Bushnell, combined with a massive overdose of commercials, dragged viewership down past a point Bravo could sustain. Sadly, another possibility is that we few faithful were the only ones watching, and the rest of the world is bored with the show.

Comments:Nice web-site you've put together! I have a question you can probably answer. Did the writers kill Gary's character off b/c Peter Norton wanted off the show to do something else? My memory was that he died in the last episode, but after watching Bravo re-runs I realized there were still a few more episodes after his fatal accident. Did the writers and cast know that the 4th season would be their last? What a great show it was!!

Comments:I love this show. I was thrilled when Bravo put it on their lineup. I can really relate to this show and the situations. It's real life...trying to keep up a house while working, trying to keep a sane and youthful life while starting a family, trying not to turn into your mom and dad. Trying not to let life kick you in the butt. The only person I didn't like was Nancy. She is so intimidating as well as arrogant. I'm glad Bravo has it on at decent hours or I would definately be losing sleep!

It has been rerun over the past decade on Australian television and is currently on pay tv at 2.30 in the morning. Comments:I love, love, LOVE "Thirtysomething!" Oh, did I mention I love "Thirtysomething?" I have to say that show did more for reality television than "Survivor" or "Fear Factor." I have seen some of the situations "Thirtysomething" discussed play out in my own life, or the lives of those around me. I really wish they could do a reunion show. Maybe I could play Janey, Hope and Michael's daughter. Forget the Tanners, Conners, Bradys, or Keatons! The Steadmans were the coolest family to ever grace the small screen.

Comments:Hey Bob, I love your website! I am, I admit, an absolute freak when it comes to "thirtysomething"; I taped every episode from the start and have enjoyed them (as well as carted them around the country with me!) for the past 15 years or so. The tapes, however, are dying on me and the image quality degrading. I have a satellite dish now and was thrilled (as you can imagine) at the prospect of being able to retape all of them onto decent tapes with a much better VCR and a digital signal to boot. Well, I've been so disgusted with Bravo's hatchet job, er, I mean editing job that I just fired this e-mail off to them and have been wondering...has anyone else noticed this and are they as infuriated as I am?!!: Dear Bravo, I'm absolutely thrilled that "thirtysomething" is back on the air, but why, oh why do you have to edit out sooooo many key scenes from the original version as aired on ABC?!...and I thought Lifetime's "hatchet job" was bad! I realize that you have to air a certain amount of product and network ads, but why so many? How can you, on one hand, promote "the art of television" and proudly feature this expertly crafted show while butchering it to pieces and destroying its integrity? Did you think that no one would notice? Am I the only one who has? I simply can't believe that you're not able to make some programming adjustments so that, at the very least, you can air this one show unedited. It's so frustrating to be watching and realize, "oh, now where's that scene where Nancy's mother Eleanor runs into Elliot in the kitchen in the middle of the night and he offers her a grape?" or "where's the scene where Nancy simutaneously picks up the CS&N album, hears the music, and Elliot is listening and rockin' out to it in his new "bachelor pad"? or on and on and on...it's so distracting, disconcerting, and appalling! When a show is so carefully and perfectly crafted as this, you savor every moment and see/feel the "whole" of it. You may think these are minor, supporting scenes, but they're not; even one missing puzzle piece and the puzzle's not complete. What you're presenting M-Th is a chopped up, jarring mess. One question: Do Ed and Marshall know what you've done? Please let me know if other thirtysomething fans have complained and if you intend to rectify the situation. Thanks!

Comments:It's really great to see the show coming back to television. I accessed your site a few weeks ago and printed out all the episodes. It helped me remember why I thought this was (and still is) the best drama ever produced on television. I just wish that Miles, the most interesting of them all, was more highly touted. I've often quoted his line about history to the average American being last week's People magazine. It all came down to real life characters in real life situations. At times a bit too clever and smarmy, but they were always interesting and fun to watch. Thanks for your site, it was great to be able to review it all again, and what timing to be able to watch (and this time, tape) the whole series over again.

I am a progressive who rides his bike, only, like Gary. I have a dog named Grendel. I have a lawyer wife turned artist'professor. Went to the Ivy league, not in Philly. Thirtysomething!!! I am so pysched that it will be on again. I have my VCR cued up to keep a library of all the episodes.

Comments:Hi All. I'm a writer/musician from England who owes much more to Thirtysomething than the space here allows. I miss them all so much but hope no one ever gets them back together. As someone who struggles above all to 'connect', well, what can I say, 'Thirtysomething' sure connected with me! File Under: GREAT POPULAR ART. Love Richard

Comments:I reference your web site weekly. I recently moved to the Middle East from the States and fortunately Thirtysomething is on for two hours on Saturday nights. We may not have pork, alcohol or "Must watch TV" over here, but thank goodness they show Thirtysomething in primetime. Your site is great, keep it up. Also I can confirm, in episode #308, Polly Draper's voice was dubbed over Kelly Wolfe's lines.
