I want to translate your essay about the handgones and Matchlock an put the result on the web site of my group with the appropriate reference to you.

So, do you think that is possible??

Thanks

P.S. If you want I can send to you many photo to us in action!

I really enjoyed your website !
I'm studying arms and armor in France and I'm working on craftsmen and armorers especially. I was very interested by your part on blacksmiths and I would like to know if it is possible to have sources for the pictures where we see the armorers.
I leave my email adress, thank you very much !

Comments:I really enjoyed your matchlocks essay. I'm a medieval re-enactor and have a 15thC reproduction matchlock. I am working on a small cannon at the moment and I think the next project (after I learn how to make cartwheels) will be a handgonne of some sort so you provided a lot of usefull links. Have attached the address of some pictures of my cannon project

Suggest you similarly disguise your email if you are leaving it in this guestbook, as I have had reports of people signing and then being deluged with casino/porn spam.

We are having trouble emailing you. Can you send us contact info besides the P.O. Box in Australia. We are in Ithaca NY and would like to share some info on Gonne history - very early discovery of a salt petre mine that you may not know about.

And just generally correspond with you.

Many thanks,

Many thanks in advance.

I'm interested in reproducing this image for an exhibition which I'm curating and would be very grateful if you can let me have details of the original publication.

Subsequentiallyt, I find the text about the Perfect Gun most informative. I live in Newton,Iowa and found your site from an admirer of my site who inquired about how I make barrels who lives in Portugal. Your site deserves a few more readings. Please feel free to visit my shop's site. Many thanks, brother. Bookie

nicely done.

Comments:Readers might be interested in joining either the US PIKE
and SHOT FEDERATION or England's PIKE and SHOT SOCIETY. Both
publish small fanzines, England's is a bit better for
general history, the US journal for wargaming activities in
the period. The Pike and Shot Society helps maintain a
vanity library, Pallas Armata Press which reprints scare
military history works including a large section from the
16th century. Critical works include Hufrey Barwicks Force
and Effect of Manuall Weapons (1594), Polemon's All the
Battles which have Been Fought in Our Age from the 1580's
(the only English source for some of the military works of
Giovio); de la Noue's Militarie and Political Discourses
(only English translation from the 1590's), Monluc's
Commentaries, Animadiversions of Warre by Ward and many
others. A half dozen IRC's gets you the catalog from Gareth
Simon, 98 Priory Road, Tonbridge, Kent, TN9, 2BP.

The US PIKE and SHOT FEDERATION primarily supports the
miniature wargaming community in the US refighting battles
of the period with historically painted 25mm and 15mm lead
soldiers. They have a web site.

The Pike and shot society can be reached via Iain Stanford,
membership secretary, 95 Tolbut Ct., Lennox Close, Romford
RM1 2DZ, UK. They recently published an excellent monograph
Medieval English Archery Tactics and their Influence on
Renaissance Warfare.
