| Comments: | Spent many happy hours visiting the gaff in the 60's getting to know all the lads. Travelling all over the place just for the fun of it. Walsall is my home town so in those days we had lots of gaffs in the area. Wish L was young and foolish again. |

| Comments: | i cant tell you how pleased i am to have found pat collins on the internet i now live in north lincolnshire but i am walsall born and bred and i can remember as children we used to scream with delight when pat collins roared into town they were happy days i can remember his house in bloxwich its not there anymore they pulled it down to build the asda pat collins is said to haunt asda i dont blame him it was a lovely house i can remember every bank holiday he would either be in corporation street or at the arboretum and once every year he would be at bloxwich for the bloxwich wake my nan would take me there i am going back over 50 years when money was scarce {much like today}but they were some of the happiest times i have ever spent my children dont know what they have missed i can remember getting all sticky with candyfloss but i did not care i was having a good time may i thank you again for giving me so pleasure in finding this info on the interner. yours faithfully mrs m east |

| Comments: | Hi, my late grandfather Charles worked on a "roll-a-penny" stall at a fairground, possibly around the Smethwick area. His son (also named Charles) married a Collins lady (in the late 1940's) sadly both passed away. Her father was a Collins and her mother was a Harris lady. Their eldest daughter (my cousin) and I are researching these family names. My grandfather was also an amateur boxer, I know he boxed in the forces, but I believe there were boxing rings at some shows / fairs so he may have taken part. The "family" story handed down, said there was a link to the Pat Collins Fun Fairs, and we would appreciate any information that anyone may have. Thanks. |
