I was delighted to find this website. It brought back superb souvenirs of the years 1961 to 1963 when I was a car salesman for Budd & Dyer in Montreal, Canada. We sold and serviced Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Aston Martins, Rovers, Humbers among others. I personnaly sold one Rolls and two Bentleys. I recently gave to my youngest son my copy of the brochure and a pamphlet on different bodies available for Rolls Royce and Bentleys. The original sales price was 14,000 CDN$for a Bentley and 14,500 CDN$ for a Rolls Royce....and this was printed on the large brochure, which was beautifully printed with silk paper between each color page. | I was a main board director at Crewe for 10 years and loved the place and the people very much. I have found your site very interesting and i noted "Project Java" with sadness. This vehicle was a potential life changing scenario for the company and was turned down as a viable project by the Vickers Board who then expended a similar amount of money into their tank business and an "in specie" dividend to their shareholders. The first thing that the new owners did was to create a small Bentley. Java would have ensured, in my opinion, that RR and Bentley would have remained proudly British. | I have had the opportunity to have owned three Rolls Royces. My first being a 1960 Silver Cloud II, which I purchased in 1974 at the age of 22. Needless to say I was so excited about my purchase. I purchased the car in Los Angeles CA. However the car was originally purchased new in Portland at British Motors of Portland on West Burnside St. My second was a 1976 Silver Shawdow purchased in 1987 at the age of 36. While I was in possession of the Silver Shawdow I purchased a 1957 Silver Cloud thus having two Rolls Royces at the same time. It is so true that owning and driving a Rolls Royce is a dream and an opportunity of a lifetime. I now am in the market to purchase my Rolls Royce number four. It truly is a car that once you have owned one you cannot stay away from them, I'am surely an afficionado of Rolls Royce. If you think you would like to be a proud owner of a truly magnificent automobile by all means get your self one. They are expensive to maintain poperly but well worth the joy of ownership.

| I was reading Automobile Magazine when I came across a four page spread on the new 2009 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe and was mesmerized by the article. When people talk dream cars they talk Ferraris, Lambs, Masarati etc. No one I know ever mentions the Royces but to me that's my dream car. Especially the 20's and 30's. They are so romantic.
