Comments:Hi Steve and the"Band",

I still keep in touch with your efforts via Mack and Gareth, now back in the "fold". Hope you all had a great time at Stalag Pontins.
I'm now with Dereham Town on BBb. They, I suppose, are 4th section but they only compete once a year at Norwich in the EABBA contest. Busy this week with remembrance parades, concerts etc.
My other hobby - trains, is well satisfied here in Dereham where there is a heritage railway, so I get involved as a crossing keeper (we have 6 in 11 miles!) Also do some restoration work. I hit the big 7-0 next year which reminds me of the big 6-0 we had in your bandroom; happy days.
Di is now retired and we bought an almost new 4bed townhouse here a year ago yesterday, having moved from Eye near Peterborough. This SHOULD be our 11th and last move.... Hoping to go west next year as we've just bought a caravan so might spend a few days around Dursley and Stroud and try a pint of "Hook" at France Lynch.
All the best to everyone.

John & Di Snelling

P.S. New E Mail will be: dijon2007@tiscali.co.uk very soon.

Just wanted to say a huge well done and thank you for the amazing result! It was such a special feeling to win pontins!

It was definately worth driving back from uni for the rehersals, and I've learnt that band and everyone in it is a really speacial part of me! I'm looking forward to coming back thursday!

Weldone to Steve, the enthusiasm gave us the drive to win! and the conducting was extremely lyrical! The build up to the competition has never been so enjoyable for me and the atmosphere of the band is at its best.

And the horns...... what can I say? Life Long Ledgens with a Lovely sound who had a Lorra fun and Laughter in the bar!
It was a pleasure to play by two amazing and dedicated musicians!

This result has really inspired me to become a better player!

Moving out home and going to uni has felt strange, it's nice to know I've always got a great hobby to come back to!

Thanks again

I can say a lot.

First of all well done to Steve. I know he works hard to find the right balance between work, and fun at band, and I think he got it just about right this time. I've said many times before as chairman that you get out of band what you put into it and just now, this is what we are doing. This result had NOTHING to do with luck. Two adjudicators both clearly struck with the whole performance coupled with our own belief during and after the performance that it was absolutely top notch and would render a result.

I re-live the moment number 12 was called - simply fantastic.

To all of the Band well done. This is not only a wonderful result but confirmation that we can deliver quality music. It also means that more than ever we should now focus on making quality performances each and every time we play, be it rehearsal, concert or contest. This must be seen as an opportunity not to say 'job done', but to press forward and reproduce time and time again.

Am I dreaming in the dreambook - no, we can aspire high lets do it some more.

Well done to Steve for such a musical interpretation of the score; and well done to everyone for delivering this on stage.

Let's not stop here. Let's carry this forward to all our forthcoming concerts and next year's area contest.

In case anyone is not aware, we are all going to the Ram Inn at Bussage tonight at 8:00pm to celebrate. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Very well done on delivering yet another quality concert. A standing ovation from many of the audience and deservedly so.

It’s not fair to pick people out, but I think the percussion section (without Helen who of course we missed and I know wanted to be at the concert) played very well indeed well done Jake and Max.

To the helpers, many thanks your support is much appreciated.

To Wayne Rooney…………………enough said…………..!

Keep up the good work everyone, the atmosphere in the Bandroom is very good, we have a wealth of experience and raw musical talent a combination which I believe will sustain the bands movement forward.

Comments:Hello All,

So.. Pontins. Yeh. I have to agree with Herbert on this one as we do have a really good performance under our belts, and even though the piece may not be to everyones liking, we have the opportunity to do very well on it, so overall it should be a great weekend. Obviously if the weathers bad, it wont be quite as fun although im sure we can find a way to have fun in the rain or Tornado's or whatever weather we might experience up there.
So lets go to pontins and kick butt! and best of all, have a great time and play to our potential!
Cya

p.s Also have to agree with Herbert and Rob for Youth Band Comment :)

Comments:So...Pontins. Yeh. It should be a really cool occasion, weather permitting. Nevertheless, if it rains, as you can expect from Wales, then we will all have a fun time anyway, getting totally bladdered within the bar area. When I say 'we' I mean the adults. But it is a great social event nonetheless, even if they can't remembered what they did, or are still drunk the next day, and have trouble driving home...like last year...But its also about the music. I think the band would agree that we have a strong performance under our belts, we just need to perform like at our high standard, on stage! Yeh, so...Pontins!
And also I would like to agree with Rob, or back him up. We may be a tiny bit of the organisation, but the youth band equally does their bit. And why not the training band, or Chalford Academy brass now...posh. Obviously they are an integral part of the band, lets hear more about them too!!!

Comments:Hey people. I have had a lot of positive feedback in regards to the concert last night. It went down like a treat with very many people.
Playing in it was also fun. The combined part was the most fun, where the audience had most participation, and really got into the swing of things, clapping, singing, laughing along.
The French band also went down well. The Can-can got many people kicking, even if it was jsut in their seats, and sometimes got people kicking each other. Also, many people were impressed with Amy's singing, even though she was really nervous. It was well received though, so well done.
Congrats to everyone though, many people enjoyed it, and I guess the profits will be interesting to see!

Comments:With Weston now behind us, I think its a shame that we only got 5th, considering the remarks we got.
Overall though, it was a very good day out. Weather held out and was mightely fine. Playng, to a certain extent, was fine too.
Admitedly, getting up at 6.30 to catch the coach down to Torquay was a little strenuous, but by the by, well worth it.
I'm a little annoyed that my trainers are still full of sand, but was all the while worth it. The sand artwork, drawn mostly by Chris, but contributed to by few others, was greatly appreciated by the crowds at Weston. I as pleasantly suprised by the reaction of many people admiring the artwork.
If anyone wants pictures of the artwork, or pictures of Weston, basically a group of us messing round on the beach, just email me at said email address, or if you know me that well, text me. I suppose that depends on how many people actualy read these comments...
Anyways, Weston good, results...not so...

In concordance with Keafan, Weston is going to be a tough, but enjoyable occasion. Ergo both Bands have got good chances to do very well at this contest but I think as long as we feel exultant with ourselves that will be marvellous. Tallis has proven itself to be arduous but we are playing it very well, so hopefully we’ll outmanoeuvre the other bands into the prizes at Weston. However, if we do not achieve the result we would want at the contest, there shouldn't be any floccinaucinahilipilification going on, as playing Tallis has been a useful and good test.
Hopefully as, Keaf said, the weather will be pleasant for the Sunday, so we can take a peregrination to the beach and play a spot of Football or go on the pier
So good luck to both bands at Weston and lets have a spiffing time!!

Chris

p.s lets kick butt!!!!

Ok seriously, I think we'll be a good competitor, and if weather is as good as last year, then we should all definately enjoy it.
To be sure, Tallis has tested us all, but we will compete to our best, all we can do is try, so good luck to everyone, including the training band.

But yeh, some very interesting points made, didn't actually see them to be honest, but if they can be showey, then why the hell can't we be?! I think thats what we need, a bit of sparkle, a bit of confidence and a bit of pride within the band.

i am generally in agreement with both keaf, chris and hannah and so me re-writing basically the same stuff again will be pointless, but anyway. i am deeply sorry for everything, please blame me if any discomfort was caused on the way back from manchester, or on the trip up for that matter. whilst i am apologising i must also mention my pathetic spelling and grammer which on many occasions lets me down.
on stage however i felt we gave all we had in our performance and we could not have asked for more from anyone. having listened to one other band i admit that the gap seems to have widened over the last year. but we should not be disheartened and we must continue to work hard as a band, gaining more experiece and gradually build from our current position. congratuations to everyone on a great performance.

Comments:Just a quickie to say well done everyone at manchester, though i have to agree with the guys that we should have gotten a higher award! Then again i didn't here the other bands + must assume they played rather outstandingly (to beat our performance!!Grrrr....) a hearty congratulations to our flugel player who played spiffingly (to coin one of chris's phrases!!) not that i'm biased in anyway!
Also just thought i'd better defend myself against accusations that i am singlehandedly responsible for the drunkeness of certain members! it is catagorically NOT my fault that i am the only person who had I.D. on sunday, or that certain individuals drank more than they should! I should be thanked for providing some rather interesting moments on the coach and chris i'll have that recording of me + chloe pls!!! Neway got to go before the essay turns into a dissertation!!

P.S. I was a responsible adult and my charge was safely strapped in + didn't have a drop of alcohol the whole day!

Comments:Hi,

In retrospect to Manchester i feel a Bronze Award does not truely reflect on what was done by the Youth Band, as i felt, in agreement with Keaf, that we played very well, SCORCHINGLY good in fact on stage and the best we have ever played. Overall apart from the results (trying to actually get into the hall), the day was a great experience and it seemed as though everyone had a great time especially those who had a few too many to drink, and i thank Chloe and Hannah for a particularly entertaining version of 'In The Jungle'!!!!
Overall it was a fun day, with some great playing and some very entertaining moments. So now lets go to Weston and kick some (more) butt!!
Chris
JOLLY GOOD
p.s i apologise to those on the Coach who had to put up with a slightly different version of Tenacious D thanks to to Me, Keaf and Hannah!

Comments:G'day everyone. In the shadow of Manchester, I have to say that we were all unlucky to get stuck with the bronze prize. It quite ironic from the point of saying that that was the best band that we have ever taken up there. But as it was, we've played, in my humble opinion, the best we ever played at Manchester.
It was fun though, talking to people, wandering around Manchester, waiting for the result as we weren't allowed in.....
Also, I have many a picture from Manchester, and now I'm kinda regretting letting Hannah go crazy with my camera, but she got a few photos of Chloe, who, may I add, was funny due to her having a few too many drinks. But there are quite a few pictures of our bandspeople at the event. If you want any, I only need your email address!

I completly, entirely, absolutely 100%, hell yeah!! agree with Keaf and Tom as the Youth Band is easily capable enough to win the Gold Prize as long as we buckle down and perform on stage! Also Weston should be spiffing especially if we can get Tallis Variations up, and if we kick some MORE butt. So on both accounts lets get down to business and get some great results we deserve!!!

And, of course, youth band's Manchester is getting ever closer (and the infamous coach journey). Good luck to us in the youth band, getting closer to that 'gold' prize. Getting tired of the same old silvers, lets go one better and beat some banding butt.

Comments:Just gotta agree with Chris that the hotel was great, and it was quite annoying that it took ages to find...so when we went looking for it, instead of a 25 minute walk, as we were told, it was more like an hour and three quarter hike. I think it's a really good idea to stay there the extra night next year, as it gives us a chance to have more of a social in the hotel, or as some of you like to call it, get totally smashed! But we can also use more of the facilities, like the pool, or snooker...but don't use the bowling alley, its dangerous!
Anyways, again, well done to both bands!
