| Comments: | Well done to Steve and all the Youth Band players on yesterday's performance in the Junior Band section of the National Youth Brass Band Championships. It was wonderful to listen to you all. As young players you never fail to impress in what you achieve on stage. Bearing in mind that this is the youngest Youth Band that we have taken to Manchester in recent years, the future for Chalford Band is well and truly secured! This was the first time in twelve years that I had none of my own children on stage but it was still as rewarding, as emotional and with a sense of pride that I sat and listened yesterday. Well done to everyone and a special mention to Max and Lianne for such beautiful playing in Pie Jesu. |

| Comments: | Great to see that Chalford Band (or Chalford Silver Band as it was known when I was a member back in the 70's) is still going and doing well. I was a member of the first youth section formed in 1972, I'm the one in Old Pics in the front row, second from right.
I have very fond memories of being in the band under the direction of Ken Wear. Can't believe that you now have a new bandroom, god those were the days when we used to play in that old church hall. I would love to see the new bandroom and see those people I still recognize from my days in the band. Best wishes Chris Kwiatkowski |

| Comments: | It is strange reading on line about the band I knew so well when I was growing up in Norfolk but never actually played with,although I have sat in at loads of practices whilst visiting my grandparents,George and Rene Wear.It is good to see you are doing so well with only one Wear in your current lineup.When we used to come along when Gramp was alive every other person was a Wear.It is also strange to read in your guest book of a Jon and Di who played with the band who now live in the next town to us here in Norfolk,and the railway he speaks of literally runs at the bottom of Dad and Mums Garden.Good luck with all you do this year. |

I still keep in touch with your efforts via Mack and Gareth, now back in the "fold". Hope you all had a great time at Stalag Pontins. I'm now with Dereham Town on BBb. They, I suppose, are 4th section but they only compete once a year at Norwich in the EABBA contest. Busy this week with remembrance parades, concerts etc. My other hobby - trains, is well satisfied here in Dereham where there is a heritage railway, so I get involved as a crossing keeper (we have 6 in 11 miles!) Also do some restoration work. I hit the big 7-0 next year which reminds me of the big 6-0 we had in your bandroom; happy days. Di is now retired and we bought an almost new 4bed townhouse here a year ago yesterday, having moved from Eye near Peterborough. This SHOULD be our 11th and last move.... Hoping to go west next year as we've just bought a caravan so might spend a few days around Dursley and Stroud and try a pint of "Hook" at France Lynch. All the best to everyone. Just wanted to say a huge well done and thank you for the amazing result! It was such a special feeling to win pontins! It was definately worth driving back from uni for the rehersals, and I've learnt that band and everyone in it is a really speacial part of me! I'm looking forward to coming back thursday! Weldone to Steve, the enthusiasm gave us the drive to win! and the conducting was extremely lyrical! The build up to the competition has never been so enjoyable for me and the atmosphere of the band is at its best. And the horns...... what can I say? Life Long Ledgens with a Lovely sound who had a Lorra fun and Laughter in the bar! It was a pleasure to play by two amazing and dedicated musicians! Whoever took the photo of me and my spec's is in trouble.Hanna. I can say a lot. First of all well done to Steve. I know he works hard to find the right balance between work, and fun at band, and I think he got it just about right this time. I've said many times before as chairman that you get out of band what you put into it and just now, this is what we are doing. This result had NOTHING to do with luck. Two adjudicators both clearly struck with the whole performance coupled with our own belief during and after the performance that it was absolutely top notch and would render a result. I re-live the moment number 12 was called - simply fantastic. To all of the Band well done. This is not only a wonderful result but confirmation that we can deliver quality music. It also means that more than ever we should now focus on making quality performances each and every time we play, be it rehearsal, concert or contest. This must be seen as an opportunity not to say 'job done', but to press forward and reproduce time and time again. Am I dreaming in the dreambook - no, we can aspire high lets do it some more. It certainly was our proudest moment within Chalford. Morale and comaradery (however you spell it, I meant friendship in a posh way) has never been higher and its a very just reward for the work we, and largely, Steve, have put into this! It's all just starting to sink in. On Saturday I had the unbelievable honour of being stood in front of 28 great musicians, great people who were totally on top of their game. As I walked to the centre of the band, I could feel that something special was just about to happen. It was electric. And then it just got better & better !! Congratulations to you all. | Comments: | Just wanted to say that it was a priveledge playing with a group of people who worked so hard and played as a team. To see Steve so relaxed and in fantastic form was a pleasure. He certainly pulled the Music out of the score! Everyone raised their game and played out of their skins. I must say a big thank you to my team, Shaun, Nikki and Naomi. You delivered big time! Awesome! Well Done. Finally, although the Bass line came in with the word "Relax," I take full reposibility for turning the Registration Terapin into a gas chamber with "RELAX GAS."!!

Just wanted to say from our percussion section that yesterday was so exciting, thanks Steve and for not letting me miss it!!.Can't really remember much after 8pm and Steve and Derek's interesting dancing routine, hope for some good photos Han. I think the word 'champions' selected by percussion made the difference!!(only joking) the bass sections relaxed feel must have helped. What a great team and I know that even a short time away from band is too long. A special thanks to young Amy for all her hard work and playing everything without a worry! I am away thurs but will be thinking of you, cu all next week. |

well, what a weekend! one that i will never forget for sure. We played brilliantly, everyone was so happy, and then what a result!! i think the drinks everyone consumed was more than well deserved!! Best of all, what an atmosphere the whole weekend, thats what made it for me in many ways!! well lets go and put on a great christmas concert now, and then the Area!!! She was an excellent supporter and, even through her terminal illness, she remained outwardly cheerful and positive. She always had a friendly smile and chat on meeting. It was a pleasure to know her. RIP.

Very well done on delivering yet another quality concert. A standing ovation from many of the audience and deservedly so. It’s not fair to pick people out, but I think the percussion section (without Helen who of course we missed and I know wanted to be at the concert) played very well indeed well done Jake and Max. To the helpers, many thanks your support is much appreciated. To Wayne Rooney…………………enough said…………..! Keep up the good work everyone, the atmosphere in the Bandroom is very good, we have a wealth of experience and raw musical talent a combination which I believe will sustain the bands movement forward. It was a great day (despite the schizophrenic weather systems!) and thoroughly enjoyed my last contest with the youth band! Sob!! :( As of august i am officially an old woman and won't be able to play next year! Thanks to Mum and Steve, for their efforts with the music etc., and a big thank you to Dad (Andy to the rest of you) for organising coaches, rehearsals, making sure that no-one got left in Manchester, and for being an all round good egg!! Congrats to Chloe for an amazing solo and the instrumentalist's prize is hers just as much as mine. And to all the players (i'd name you all but there's not enough room!) well done for a brilliant performance and thanks for making my last time the best! See you at the next rehearsal....Han |
