Landed in New York and moved to Springfield, Clark Co.,Ohio and built a farm for hire from a man in New Jersy. Was noted that he walked twice a year to Cincinniti for Mass. Helped to Build Mudd Runn Church near Enon Ohio. And later joined that church becoming Prebyterian; Mudd Runn was "the old Prebyterian" and they joined the church in Yellow Springs, Ohio. I'm looking for information on Drury COLLIER, b. abt 1749/50? Brunswick Co VA; d. 1809 NC. He married Elizabeth _____. I'm trying to find out who his children were. Particularly interested in proving if he had a daughter named Rebecca Collier, b. abt 1783 NC who married before 1805, in Lincoln Co NC, Reuben LOLLAR. This couple migrated to Cumberland Co KY. A descendant of Rebecca's is trying to obtain a copy of Drury's will from the NC archives. Anyone with other information that might help prove Rebecca's parentage, please contact me. Timeline for Drury Collier: Born abt 1749/1750 Brunswick Co VA. 13 Nov 1759 - named in the will of his father William Collier in Brunswick Co VA. (note William was son of John Collier JR,d. 1732, and Grace(or Hannah)LUCAS.) Drury was underage at the time, his older brother Howell Collier was guardian of Drury, Frederick and William, orphans of William Collier. 24 Sept 1770 - Drury, now at least 21 yrs old, purchased 128 ac of land from his brother Lewis Collier on Lane's Branch in Brunswick Co VA. Lewis and his wife Elizabeth were in Roan Co NC at the time. Deed was recorded 24 Feb 1772. Deed Bk 10, pg 341. 24 Jan 1774, Drury Collier and Elizabeth his wife sold to John Maclin an 84 ac tract on Lane's Branch, Brunswick Co VA, DB 11, pg 192. 28 Oct 1776 - Purchased 215 ac from John and Barnett Randle on Saw Scaffold Branch in Brunswick Co VA. 02 June 1778 - posted security for the estate of Benjamin Warren in Brunswick Co VA. 24 Aug 1778 - Drury Collier and Elizabeth his wife sold to James William Green the 215 acre tract purchased from John and Barnett Randle. His sister Rhoda married Harry L. West and had three children. They lived alternately in Colorado Springs, Phoenix and Portland, Maine. The 1980 Reconsdtructed Census incorrectly lists the husband of Rhoda as Harvey L. West. Frank Collier was born in 1887 and died in 1953. Moved to Wichita Falls in 1994. |

| Comments: | I've read all the entries but haven't found anything familiar that relates to what I know. My father was James Hamilton Collier, b. 1910 d. 1975 from Eldon, Missouri. Only when I went to Scotland did I learn that that was his ancestry.James and Hamilton and Collier are Scottish names. In Scotland I was told that the Collier ancestors had their tartans/plaid etc. under the name of Roberts. When I returned from Scotland and inquired, my mother told me that my dad's grandfather said his family originated in Scotland. That grandfather was Joshua Hamilton Collier. His son was Frances Marion "Frank" Collier, also b. in Missouri and my dad's father. Before they came to Missouri I am fairly sure they were in Ohio. An interesting physical characteristic is their legs were short, relative to the rest of their bodies. Mine are as well, and I passed that along to one of my sons. |

my e-mail address. Great Site !...My line contains (as do too many) William, Charles, James, Thomas. In my line, my first William , g-g- grand, was born abt. 1787 in NC. His son, my g-grand was Charles Rufus, brn abt.1838 in TN. His son, my grandf was James Thomas, brn abt. 1879 in TX. One believes William moved first, possibly, to MS, then to AL, followed by TN and on to Upshur Co TX, Fannin Co TX and Hunt Co TX. Children of Charles Rufus were in TX and OK in the 1930s and there are still some in OK today. If you think there is a chance of a connection, contact me by e-mail for further info.
