Yancey Jr. and his mother Nodie Mae Anderson-Yancey. There are photos with features that are comparable despite skin shade. Eyes, eyebrows, ear, and forehead structure in my spouse and our children who are fair complected since I am full blooded white. (The asian name comes from a man married to my mother who adopted me and my name was changed) I was born Leslie C. Jayco or alternate spelling Jaco of Tennessee. | Comments: | My name is Linda Gayle Yancy Monnerjahn. I was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Effie A. Yancy and Ester Lois Durham. My Grandfather was Oscar Clifford Yancy. He was married to Bennie Gayle Stout. Both of them died when my dad was only 6, so I never knew my grandparents. My great grandfather was George G. Yancy. I was always told that my great grandfather came from Macon GA, to Texas. His father who's name I do not know brought his family to Texas after being involved in a shooting over some live stock. He could not read or write, and as you can imagine, also could not spell. When he moved his family to Texas he made a loan and the man at the bank spelled "Yancey" as Yancy. Our last name should be spelled Yancey. but with the move to Texas the "e" was left out?? I do know that his wife's name was Hattie, and I was always told that the city of Hattisburg, MS was named after her. But I don't know this to be fact.

Samuel was the son of Rufus William Yancey and Martha Berniece Gaylor. Rufus was born in 1829 in Giles County TN. He was the son of John Yancey who was married to Elizabeth Lightfoot Moore. They lived in Caswell County North Carolina. John's parents lere Bartlett Yancey Sr who was married to Ann Graves. They also lived in Caswell County North Carolina. Bartlett was born in 1736. I am a trustee of the Yancey graveyard here in Culpeper, which was established in 1710 by Lewis Davis Yancey, a son of one of the original brothers who came here from Wales in 1610. | Comments: | I've gotten from family info, that traced my lineage back to Samuel Robert Yancey, who died in 1873, and was married to Octavia (Musick,-and another associated name Aranel-possibly outlived gggrandpa and remarried. Samuel Robert Yancey is on a 1860 census in Milton County Ga. Grandad, then later moved to Missippi. It says he was born in South Carolina. Listed in the same census is Dabney Yancey (Spelled without the "e") who appears to be my ggggrandfather). Dabney was born in Virginia. |
