My aunty Jean and cousin Adam and Family and also cousin Walter and Family still live in Rorketon. My name is Judy Storozinski(Ilkew). I looked through many of the pictures on this site but unfortunenatly I did not recognize anyone. It has been quite some time that I was in Rorketon. If someone could pass a message that I said hello to my family that would be wonderful (Tymchuk Families... Walter/Adam/Aunty Jean. A big hello from my parents also. Maybe with some luck one will be able to e-mail me. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Our family left Rorketon in August 1955 and until the Homecoming in 1997 we had never all been back there together. We, meaning my six siblings and I made sure Mom ( Bea Ackerman Barnett ) was there and like the farmers daughter she was, she was so happy to have all her chicks in the nest. Sadly she passed away that November. But the great memories she had will be there to share with her at a later time. Thank you Rorketon and all the other communities that made it such a great event and memory. Thanks also to Uncle Sid Mabel Robert Ruth also to Russell and Debbie Murray sure glad I have relatives like you !!!

The Hamlet of Rorketon, Manitoba, Canada
Just surfing and wondered if Rorketon had a website and of course it did. My first visit to Rorketon was over fifty years ago when as a new bride I met my husband's family for the first time. Imagine a city girl, growing up in a big city like Toronto, Ontario, coming to Rorketon. The main street with it's dirt road reminded me of something out of an old movie! We spent a few weeks there, and during that time I fell in love with the town and it's wonderful people. Some of you "old timers" may remeber the Robbins' Transport which operated from Rorketon to Winnipeg.
Our last visit to Rorketon was for the Homecoming, 1999.
Not too much had changed - main street was still a dirt road, and the people were still wonderful. Thanks to Rorketon, I am married to George, one of those wonderful people! You may say I am prejudiced, but this city gal got the best! Nora Robbins

Hi,it was great to visit the sight as it just brings home all the wonderful times of listening to Grandad reminisce about his days growing up there. He's a 'Bonnett' and we still have family there with you. I long for the day when i can visit with my girls. He and other family came to the Homecoming and the chicken coop was still there from when he was a kid! From S in the UK.

Hello Everyone,
I half grew up in Rorketon as both sets of my grandparents lived there, Fediuks and Tkachs (Ann Tkach still lives there). I will be coming camping with my two sons in a week as we do every year and visiting my sister Geraldine Stykalo and her family. Always have a great time - love those Manipogo burgers!

Visit your site occassionally....I'm Laurence Tkach and
I resided in Weiden and attended scholl there as well as Rorketon and St. Vladimirs College in roblin. My parents are Fred & Stella and they live in Winterpeg.....I've been living in Vancouver since 1975 when I was transferred by my company and am married to a fine gal from Ste. Rose, Suzanne Pineau,,,uhhh those frenchmen......
Anyone reading and knows me please drop me a note as I would love to hear& converse back (Edwin Hill where are ya).... The only person I ever see is Mary Bileski (Sliworki) when we visit Manipogo. Was through there again by bicycle this summer and could not go to Manipogo and then Ste Rose via Winnpegosis as they had torn up part of the highway north of Dauphin so had to continue directly to Wpg. Met my "Old Flame-Favourite" teacher Bernice Sliworky in Dauphin and we chatted over a sandwich at Tim Hortons..
Cheers

Hi there,
I came across your site by chance while doing some searching on the web. I actually live now in Melbourne, Australia and am involved in tourism research.
I actually used to briefly live in Thunder Bay in 2002 while teaching at Lakehead University. I have very fond memories of my time there and guess I am missing Canada quite a lot. Originally I am from Germany and therefore do like the snow, something I do not get here in Australia as most of the time I live in Brisbane, Queensland which has sub-tropical climate.
Well, I have never been to Rorketon, but when your website came up I travelled down memory lane and thought to say hi.
Many warm wishes from 'down under'
Birgit

Hi,
I was browsing the net one night and typed in my mother's maiden name Tymchuk and connected to this site.
I had visited Rorketon, a couple of times in my youth and I
hope to be back soon with my family. My mother's name was Irene Tymchuk and she married Mike Zamrykut. They moved to Thunder Bay, Ont. and raised a family. My first brother Russell Zamrykut is buried in Rorketon. I have relatives in Rorketon and have fond memories of visiting as a young girl. My uncle's name is Mike Tymchuk. My aunt's name is Jean Tymchuk (nee Zamrykut). I now have a family of my own and live in Vancouver, BC. Keep up the good work. It was wonderful to check out the pictures.

It's really nice to see Rorketon has a site. I especially like to look at the pictures to see if I know anyone as my mom (Gail Smith) now lives in Rorketon. I see my Auntie Wendy and my Papa (Phillip Smith) participated in this years Turkey Shoot how exciting! It's sure nice to see them as I live in Grande Prairie, Alberta and don't get to see them very often.

Howdy Folks, I spent my summers as a youth on Mike Smigelski's farm and Fred Lueke's farm. Their mothers-in-laws daughters were my mothers sisters. Rorketon is just a big a part of me as Melville, Saskatchewan, the town I grew up in. I was at the big homecoming in the late 90's and had a winderful time. All the best to everyone out there. Thank you for the interesting things about your area! I have visited Canada twice. At age ten, ivisited Victoria, and about twenty years later, I visited Windsor. Both visits were far too short! I have visited Florida several times, and was amazed to find a fairly large group of Canadian tourists there. They appear to show a preference for the waarmer climate, as much as I do. Again, thank you, and best wishes!
