how happy I was to remember and find you through your Bear sight in the internet. I sent you a letter from Xiehe International School, Linyi City, Shandong Province, last week. I have no idea how long it will take to find you. I realise that over here time and technology have different meanings to those back in Australia. The day I recieved the birthday card you sent, was the day I was told I was accepted to work in China as an "English(Oral)Teacher" some where in China! Within a matter of 4 weeks it was done - passport, visa and I am here! and is it ever a different world as well as a new culture. The school where I work in Bulleen (Vic) has approx. 180 Autistic I.D. students, here there are approx 4000? I have had much difficulty getting "working" phone and computer access in my room, as I think I am the only female "foreigner" (2 men here also) to stay here. After 2 1/2 weeks I do have them, but need phone cards to make and recieve calls; and have to learn quickly about "Internet & Emailing". Your website is great, your bears look so cute, wonderful. I hope some time during the next year I will be able to see you in person. We(3foreign "teachers")have our holidays in October and May. If I can save money and find out how, I would like to do some travelling if possible. I strongly believe a miracle got me here, so hope the next step will be to catch up with all you again - 20 years? Hoping to hear from you soon, Gail. |
