Saturday ride was really fun. We went to girl scout uphill and came down to west leg, but it was not enough so we took middle lake view and came down half way to the reaper. Keep it up bikers. And I'm glad that my derailleur didn't break this time. See you guys at the trail.

Keep riding guys,

Comments:Hello, Everyone!

We will be camping at Mt Charleston on Sunday PM (08/31/08) at Hilltop Humboldt - Toiyabe Campsite Loop 007. If you're interested to join JR, Rheyburt, Gibot and myself to go biking on Monday morning, we will hit the trails at around 8AM. It's at least 20 degrees cooler up there so it's okay to go a little later in the morning. If you wanna show up earlier, we will have breakfast available (tocino, fried rice, eggs, longanisa, etc).

You're also welcome to join us camping, we still have 2 tent spaces available. We will leave for Mt Charleston tomorrow at around 2PM so just let me know before then. We will be barbeque-ing and playing card games (pusoy dos, etc).

There's also a mile-long hiking trail going to Mary Jane Falls.

That's all for now. Good night.

Rene

CAMPSITE DIRECTIONS:
Hilltop (NV)
TOIYABE
NV

From Las Vegas, travel north on Highway 95 to the junction with Highway 157 (Kyle Canyon), turn left and travel approximately 17 miles to the junction with Highway 158 (Deer Creek), turn right and travel about 4 miles to the campground, which is on the right.

There's plans to tackle Cottonwood Trails this Saturday but there was also a suggestion thrown out last night to ride the 15 mile route from the Henderson Chapel up Boulder Highway and the River Mountain Trail and back to the chapel so that we can support the Locale's "General Clean Up" of the Chapel. There's also a 30% chance of thunderstorms forecast for Clark County this Saturday and Sunday as well. Let us know what you think.

Some of us made a nasty crashed and fall during our mountain trekking. But it just a little bruises and cuts...eveyone survive the curse of burros. I guess we wanted to challenge this course again before we go on to the next level..So those bikers who missed this...prepare :) This is now a real mountain biking...that will test your endurance your physical ability, your own judgement!!! ayos ba?

Comments:Here's a summary from last night's "Basic Bike Mainentance" Clinic at the Henderson "REI" at the District in the Green Valley Ranch. Asbel, Bing and myself attended. Click on the following links below for more information.

They basically went over "Cleaning and lubricating your bike" and went over the different cleaning and lubricating supplies. They also went over "Tool Kit Essentials" and "How to Fix a Flat Tire".

Some other tips and comments mentioned...Using WD-40 for your chain is bad. It leaves a residue that messes up the chain. Also, you should alway have a patch kit, tubes, etc...especially if you plan to do more off road trails. The speaker mentioned he road Cottonwood and got 5 flats during that one ride.

It was a good session and would be worth attending the next time they hold it. You also have the opportunity to ask them questions. We'll keep you posted on other Bike Clinics that REI will offer in the future. Happy Trails!!!

Blue Diamond Mountain Bike Trail
Las Vegas, Nevada

Bike Trail Stats
Length: 30 miles
Trail Type: Singletrack
Configuration: Network
Difficulty: Intermediate
Rating:
Global Rank: 383

Categories: Sweet Singletrack, Good After-Work Ride, Great Scenery.
Description: Blue Diamond is were you will find some incredible high desert singletrack. The firm desert floor makes the tight twisty trails fast and they go on for miles. There are some good climbs and switch backs on the south side of the road that offer great views of Vegas, or stay on the north side and enjoy relatively flat trails that will make anyone smile. If you are looking for a challenge take the Late Nite trail on the north side. I found it to be the most technical in the park with a good climb from the parking lot and some good rock riding on the way down. Be sure to find a loop though the town of Blue Diamond. It is like a oasis in the desert. Take a camera and alot of water!!!

MTB Trail Reviews Add Review:

Review: Very cool set of trails. The thorns will jump out at ya if you don't watch it but beyond that it's a great set of trails. The views are gorgeous and there is a great little resturant at the ranch down the road for a quick snacks.

Review: Great desert single track area with lots of trail options ranging from fast & swoopy to slow & technical with most of the later up higher on the hillsides. I would advise going into the community of Blue Diamond just off of Red Rocks rd to the bike shop there were you can pick up a map & supplies or even rent bikes if you need to. You can park and ride right from there. Take lots of water and be careful in the heat of summer. I seen a couple different versions of up-to-date maps that were pretty accurate, there isn’t any signage on the trails themselves but its really hard to get lost.

Review: No longer living in the area, but when I was I loved going here after work, not far from Vegas. It was a great trail with flat spots to get your speed up and a lot of downhill to kick in the adrenaline. Unfortunately, my last time at the trail the rocky downhill at the end got the best of me and I wound up with a broken collarbone :(

Review: great typical desert singletrack. right by Vegas city limits. if you know trails you can go for miles and miles to some remote areas, or see Vegas lit up at night from one of the higher trails. easy, mostly smooth uphills and downhills. you can pick up some speed if you know the trail. occasionally you can see a burro(makes interesting sounds) and/or other wildlife. there is no shade to hide from the Sun so be prepared.

WHAT DO YOU THINK GUYS? AFTER THE ANNIVERSARY?

Comments:I checked out BC yesterday and I can say its not for everyone just yet, sure we can ride some of the trails but I think Blue Diamond or Red Rock Canyon would be more suitable for everyone. I will scout those trails this week maybe friday let me know if you would like to join me il be bringing my bike..stay tune..

Comments:I guess you guys just came close to the mountain where the letters "BC" are. I myself didn't know that it stands for Bootleg Canyon. There's a dozen of trails in that area from easy to extreme bike riding, downhill to cross-country trails. Check out the website at www.bootlegcanyon,org. Click on Maps.

Comments:Yo....you just missed the thrill of a life time or I should say "Thrill of a bike time" yesterday afternoon. We conquered the "Mormon"..hehehehe thats the name of the trail...Mormon Tea Trail..The course kinda imtimidating for the first time ride but if you go for the second time.....hehehehe piece of cake. Dereck made all the way to the top and so all of us. We missed the rest of bikers but you are always welcome to try this trail also...it's short but it feels like you biking all day. So do'nt be scared ...it's really good training especially when you do climbing. Maybe we can take you there this coming Saturday afternoon if you still have energy after a long miles of biking plus clean up at the Chapel....wait until you see our pictures at MORMON TEA TRAIL.
