After reading Raymond's book, I remembered what an inspirational teacher he was whilst growing up. He not only listened to my views, but flourished them. A teacher I will always remember - (despite him being a Nat!)

I checked out your links and noticed you still have the Scottish Socialist Party still there! Are you still a believer then or have recent events changed your mind?!

Hi Gill - you're e-mail address isn't working, so I have to reply this way, I'm afraid. I've only read a couple of Christopher's books - we come from the same home town - but I liked them very much. He has a very cool humour I wish I could do! He's very cinematic, I think, and it's only a matter of time before Jack Parlabane makes it to the silver screen. Thanks for your post - best wishes!

Hi - can I ask a quick question?! Are you a Christopher Brookmyre fan? It just seems that your styles of writing are very similar - perhaps it's a Glasgow thing! Anyway, good luck with your future projects. I'll read them as enthusiastically as I read Brookmyres!

Just thought I'd say that this is a great website. I read Occasional Demons and wanted to find out a bit about who wrote it. Best of luck with your future!

Hello Raymond - Thoroughly enjoyed reading your book. The stories are beautifully written and the attention to detail and observations of the characters are absolute. Especially liked 'Newton's Cradle' and 'Business'. Wishing you continued literary success.

Raymond Soltysek - how impressive this site is; can't tell you how damned nice it is to see some of your spectacular talent exploding onto the page and screen. Like one of your (other) fans, I know that there is much more to come, and that Scottish literature, and its baby sister, English lit. should watch its back. Waiting patiently for the next book....

Hi Raymond, my favourite remains 'The bus fare down the tubes' for the beautiful description of the'geometry of Tracy' and Carol's 'dead dolphins legs' and because I laughed so loud. A close second is 'unto myself' because 'gosh you write beautifully Raymond!'. Finally 'Dismantled' for the complex emotional reaction it provoked and your ability to described the powerfully subjective acid experience the character goes through. So creative. Congratulations. I am looking forward to more of this.

Raymond Soltysek's work is the original, green, Toulouse L absinthe. Sip it carefully and slowly and don't be astounded if you arrive at bottle's end, with a different genetic imprint from when you started. Take me, for instance. I discovered his book by a bush on a hillside which I learned later was named Bosworth. Then I became drug-dealer to Leonardo and now I live solely in virtuality. All through reading Occasional Demons one stormy Silesian nacht. Behind that smile is a ferocious aleph! Love and poetry, Suhayl Saadi

Dear Mr Soltysek/Raymond, I'm assuming you're the same one I knew - don't think there can be many with the same name! However, if you didn't teach at Lenzie Academy then ignore this email. Just thought I'd say hello. I'm now a journalist with Scottish Television. I've been working in the newsroom now for about two years and I'm still working towards my goal of becoming a newsreader. Are you still a teacher or has the writing taken over? Jill
