Hey Ger, good to hear from you again. Btw I was never in the basement on frederick's st. Which casts considerable doubt over the veracity of your statements, as well as calling into question your credibility and honesty and integrity as a human being. If you go to confession on sunday, I can forgive you. If you don't go, well I have my spies. I'll know.
If you'll recall, the real truth of the matter is that you were working as a waitress in a coctail bar, when I met you... Now five years later on you’ve got the world at your feet. Success has been so easy for you But don’t forget it’s me who put you where you are now And I can put you back down too.

Hey Ruairi, man I love your work. I've followed your career closely since 50% grey and this website really helps showcase your tallent. You are one of the best guys in animation I know of today. I'm sure you will continue to have a wonderful career in animation making plenty of good ones like fifty % grey and those great milk commercials.
Keep up the great work and don't be too hard on yourself, you're not that fat!

Last night I finally met the infamous Ruairi Robinson at a Hollywood watering hole. Although very short in stature, his personality is larger than life. He was making out with Scarlett Johansson in a corner booth when I approached him, and seemed almost relieved by my intrusion. He spent hours and hours with me discussing everything from politics to women’s fashions. For those of you out there who want to know, Mr. Robinson is very approachable and doesn't mind signing autographs. In fact, he insisted on signing more than I actually asked for. He loves talking about his work and his high-rolling friends Ronnie, Lu and Yo. I guess this Ronnie he kept raving on about is this actor from LA starring in his next film. And to you, Mr. Robinson, I just want to thank you (and Scarlett) for taking the time to visit with me all night long for hours and hours and hours. |

Oh Ruairi, it was great having you in LA, it’s been loads of fun…aside of course for the tasteless jokes, blatant misogyny and nonsensical drunken babbling. I think I may even kinda miss you. Looking forward to the next adventure…in the meanwhile sending you a firm yet affectionate smack on the noggin. xo |

Hey Ruairí,
As an aspiring film director myself, I have to say that you are the kind of individual that makes me want to congratulate you, and kill you just afterwards... You're so talented, and I don't need that kind of competition man! Plus, you won an Oscar®. Oh no. Wait. You didn't. You just got nominated. But until I have more Oscar® nominations than you, I'll admit that you're fucking awesome. Which means that I'll admit that for at least the next XX years...
Keep up the good work!
Me
P.S.1.: Also notice how I bother using the REGISTERED symbol when I reference the OSCAR® above? This is because I do have respect for authority.
P.S.2.: By the way, "50% Grey" rules!

Fsck, I lived the day to see that acted short finished after so many years. I hope those low lives in Holly-wood finally give you a chance on the big screen instead of defaulting to the googoo-ga crap that Pixar makes each year.

I like your animations! I'm a novice 3D artist myself, though I've fallen out of the habit (kicked it, if you will) recently in favor of recording music. It's so bloody hard to mix the two, being bloody-fuck expensive in more than just the time-consuming fashion.
I've got the Hi-Def torrent of Silent City on the download, and I watched that cool grey-ish short that was nominated for some "Ochre" award or something like that... you seemed very excited about it, whatever it was.. "Oswald"? "Oscillator"? Who knows.
Good stuff, all around. |

Dear Ruairi,
I'm glad you pronounce your name Raw-Ree. I pronounce my name Roo-ree. This way if we're in the same room and someone calls one of us there should be no confusion. This means that this town IS big enough for the both of us!
Of coure the rest of the world might just get confused and get it wrong but in theory we should be safe.
I like your site. Not just the work on there but the writing. I think if it were an industrial cementists site it would still be fun. So I'll be back.

Hey, heard you're making Akira...well good luck to you sir.(If it finally leaves developmental heaven/purgatory/hell..cause well at the moment the progress of that movie has often looked very similar to 50% Grey)) You definitely seem to have the chops artistically as "The Silent City" definitely suggests. And got a wicked sense of humor to boot! Although I am concerned over how you will successfully direct this movie sufficiently while being very very dead.
You will probably never read this anyway, considering how busy you are....but yeah, felt like venting what I feel...no harm in that.
PS - The SFX work you produce on your own is amazing...I guess it is because you put more effort into it and have more time than some of the mediocre sfx you see in big hollywood movies (permitted they are on a harsh deadline). |

So I was catching up on Hollywood gossip on www.firstshowing.net and I read that a live action Akira was in the works. Somehow, I just couldn't grasp the possibility that that might be a good idea. Then I hopped on over to your youtube page and viewed The Silent City. wow. I see why they chose you. I think that, while the animated version will always have special place in my heart, your version just topped my list of movies that I am excited about (in a very positive way.)
I am an aspiring artist, actor, and film maker myself, and hope to pursue all three next year in college. My most recent film (the only one on my youtube I actually spent some time working on) can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/kelleydvd (its the featured one (Velocity (Final)).) Got enough parentheses? I would be honored to receive comments and or criticism from you.
Oh, and here's some art if you're interested: http://hisorpheus.deviantart.com/
I look forward to seeing your next project, and from hearing from you.
Many thanks

You have an ego big enough to be a black porno star! That being said, I can see why. You make films, short or tall, POP! I've been writing professionally for almost twenty years. I think I've seen it all and kicked enough ass around town to be noted as a bad boy with a bad apple complex, but YOU CAN FUCKING DIRECT YOUR FUCKING ASS OFF!! Okay, enough sucking on your left nut. You really have the juice. I came to your site after I found out you where the fucking loser (Well, really the winner) who was directing "Akira." One of my all time favorite movies. I thought, "How did this cocksucker get to director Akira?!" So, I came here to see what your were all about and FUCK YOU! You really put your money shot where you mouth is. No shit, your work is up there with the best. It's about time we start seeing someone grab nuts and go out and make these great pieces of short fiction. And knowing that you did this with one arm tied behind your back (Meaning, you did 95 percent of the work by yourself) is fucking amazing.... Okay, I'm not sucking your right nut, no matter what.... but you are the real fucking deal and continue to big up that ego of yours. You have every right to.... Why isn't Hollywood A-listing this cocksucker (and I mean that in a nice way) is the most puzzling thing. You have the gift. You are the one. The fucking A-badass jedi. Keep up the great work and please keep me posted about your future works... damn, I'm a fucking fan of someone. I can't believe it.
Cheers. |

Hey man, I really liked Silent City. I'm not sure how I found it but as soon as I started watching it I (thinking it was a trailer) started looking for a torrent for the movie. Damn, how I wish it were a feature length film. I love that wasteland look of the burned out city and the overall appearance of the soldiers was great. Also, the skeletal sniper looked really fucking cool!! Also, I like how death came flying the fuck out of that building and out toward the soldier on the radio. Especially the part where it blasts that busted car out of the way. You should direct Mad Max IV. Anyway don't sweat the assholes bitching about Akira, they're going to bitch no matter how you do it because it's going to be a different medium (just as we see with Fallout 3). I think you can do it, you've definitely shown that you can lay down some assbad upfucked post-apocalyptic city action and capture the sweet&sour moods of isolation and hopelessness. Hopefully they'll let you rock it RC (fuck those Aussies if they're gov't won't let them buy it) so you can get all that gritty human baseness of Akira into the film. I will say that I just hope to God the film is in Japanese with English subtitles because the English version of Akira just can't capture the goodness of its Japanese glory. Push those cut up envelopes brother. Assault those dirty bastards. Hopefully these big media companies start to realize that there are those of us out here who want some hardcore noir shit and not the same retarded Colon Farrell, Matt Damon, watered down, over hyped shit they've been putting out. I'm sick of seeing movies without any ugly people in them! Get some real, /real/ ugly motherfuckers for extras in Akira if you dig it. Anyway, enough said, keep truckin'. |
