| Comments: | I am contacting you for my cousin who just married a Russian lady and brought her to Kansas city. Not alot of thought went into this as is often the way, but now he is determined to make this work. He is Baptist, though not very active, works nights (Pharmacist) and lives in Independence, MO Things are not going well because she is so fearful and he is exhausted trying to help her on his own and doesn't know where to turn for help. I am a born again spirit filled Christian and want very much to help them, but communicating is very hard and we get so little time with them since we work days and he works nights. She is also ill Hep. C and doesn't trust american Doctors very much, she keeps saying her Ukrain Dr. says this etc. So she needs someone who can help communicate fully what Dr's are saying etc. If you can suggest where to start for a sponsor or someone who can give much time to helping them get her established here and help her learn about her Saviour. I am willing and able but I don't understand her religion enough to know how to begin. Russian Orthodox mixed with Catholic?? This is overwhelming to say the least, for her and us, but God is their hope and I want her to know Him personally, but we may have to deal with some trust issues and adjustments before she will be able to accept more changes in her security. HELP IF YOU CAN. |

If we don't abide in Christ, we will be cast out and thrown into the fire (John 15:6). If we don't continue in God's goodness, we will be cut off (Romans 11:22). Even a bishop or elder can fall into reproach and the snare of the devil (1 Tim. 3:6,7). Even a preacher, like Paul said that it could have happened to him if he didn't discipline himself, can become a rejected castaway not approved for the prize of the crown (1 Cor. 9:24-27). For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins - Heb. 10:26. Operation Carelift 2001 in February. I fell in love with the city and the hundreds of little children that i met at the orphanages and baby houses and boarding schools we visited. for me,I won't tell you how to live your life,but because believe me I'm the last person that can do that.But I'm a sinner and God has saved me any way,I don't deserve it,but God is a good God,a God of love.So good that he sent his son Jesus to die for you and me.And he had compassion on me not because i deserved it,but because Of Jesus, and he's a very compassionate God And he saw a very confused person that needed help, and he chose to have compassion on me.I smoked for about 12 or 15 years,I told God I was scared to quit, because quitting could possibly change my life If I did, well about 2 weeks later I ended up in the hospital they took blood out of an arterial vein in my wrist,and told me that if I didn't quit,they would be doing that all the time. I now have been quit for 11 years,not because of what I did,but because God saw me and although I was a sinner chose to have compassion on me,but thats how awesome God is he doesn't play favorites,he will also do it for you, if you just ask.See the awesome thing out of all this that I have seen, is that I felt that God was showing me what my life could have been like if I had not quit smoking. If you have any comments for improvement, these would also be welcome. fdd ____________________________________________________________ ____________________ CIRCUIT RIDER THE ELECTRIC SUNDAY SCHOOL FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, PRESTONSBURG, USA ____________________________________________________12-28- 1999____________________________ END OF THE MILLENNIUM EDITION ____________________________________________________________ _____________________________ SIGNALS: Christmas is behind us now, and we begin to look toward Friday as the last day of the century and the last day of our current millennium. As in the year 999 AD, the woods are full of prophets of gloom and doom, predicting either the end of our civilization or the end of the world-- depending upon the theological tilt of the sooth-sayer. Those of a technological bend say that our computer programs will not be able to tell the year 2000 from the year 1900 because most software was developed using only the last two digits of the year rather than the full year to save memory on early computers (99 instead of 1999, for example). In reality, these program could just as easily recognize the double zeros of the year 2000 as any year ending with 00 (1600, 1700. 1800, etc.), but there is no need to add more paranoia than there already is. Electric utilities, banks, insurance companies, and communications networks have spent billions of dollars world-wide to correct the problem; and most say they are ready. In reality, I am sure there will be problems with some computers in some places, but many of us can remember when computers were not a part of every day life. When I was a child, we did our banking, bought our groceries, and paid our bills quite well on our own without computers, and, although it would be inconvenient to do so, I am sure we could do it again. The second group of prophets are looking for the end of time as written in the Book of Revelations, the last chapter in the Christian Bible. Well, it is certainly possible that the Lord will choose the first moments of the new millennium to bring his kingdom to earth, but those moments are no more likely candidates that any of the other moments we live in our lives. Jesus tells us to always be ready, because only the Father in Heaven knows the day and the hour of the end, and Jesus is in the best position to give advice. We should all live our lives as though each moment is precious, for each is. Every kind word unsaid, every act of mercy not done, every work of love not undertaken is, at some point, irretrievably lost. The more common end of mankind will not be found in the fiery apocalypse of Revelations, but in accumulated lifetimes of missed opportunities, for what we do as Christians will weigh far heavier than anything we say. Those of you whose lives are just beginning, enjoy the new century and the new millennium, because it will be yours to guide, govern, and create. It is for those of us in the middle of life with a foot in both the Twentieth and Twenty- First Centuries to guide and support you as best we can. None of us have answers, for the world as you will know it has not been born, and the world as we knew it has been irrevocable changed. But whether the present age lasts two thousand years or a million, we can go forward together as God intended, sure of His redemptive love, and of our resurrection in Jesus Christ. Happy New Year/Happy New Millennium. The Electric Sunday School. FULL POWER: Family Connections Luke 1:5-56 In the time of Herod, king of Judea, there lived a priest, Zechariah, and his wife, Elizabeth. Both of them were old and had no children. Both were "upright in the sight of God." See verse 7. One day Zechariah was doing his priestly duties when an angel, Gabriel, appeared and told him he and Elizabeth would have a child. He instructed Zechariah to name the baby John. According to verses 14-17 this child was to be very special and would make ready a people prepared for the Lord. True to the angel's prediction, Elizabeth did become pregnant. Now, in her sixth month, her cousin Mary, who lived in Galilee, had a visit from Gabriel. His first words to Mary were, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Of course, his message continued with the announcement that Mary would bear a son - - Jesus. Just as the angel had described John as a special child, so he described Jesus. Verse 32-33. When Mary questioned Gabriel about this strange announcement, he explained that the birth would be brought about by the Holy Spirit. He went on to tell Mary about her cousin Elizabeth's pregnancy in her old age and added, "For nothing is impossible with God." The interesting part of the story is that Mary immediately sought out the companionship of her cousin. Verse 39 tells us she "hurried" to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Elizabeth's home. Mary stayed with Elizabeth for three months and returned home. We know that the baby John grew up to be John the Baptist, preparing the way for Jesus. Mary's baby grew up to be Jesus, Savior of the world. Family connections, how they do weave and mingle the lives of many. How very marvelous that these two women were blessed with children who would grow up to wield such a great influence on the world! God must have surely planned that these cousins would have the pleasure of each other's company at such a wonderful time in their lives. ________________ Usually, the Electric Sunday School class responds to questions about the lesson.
