Hey there - LOVE this site! Thank you so much for creating it!

For those who ever wondered why Margot Kidder didn't play Lois Lane in the "Supergirl" movie - please check out the homepage link for a youtube video that explains EVERYTHING! Yes, it's ridiculous...but so is the movie "Supergirl." And that's why I love it so much.

Anyway...hope you check it out. And thanks again for creating this great salute to Supergirl!!!

I want to THANK YOU for this site devoted to SUPERGIRL! I was as much a fan of hers as I was Superman growing up.I began reading her in the EARLY 70s so I am admittedly, a SILVER/BRONZE,early MODERN age fan. This site may be devoted to ALL the 'Supergirls' whether I know much about them or not but still,I do not see HOW this site could be ANY better! YOU have done and ARE doing a GREAT JOB!! I WISH YOU THE BEST ALWAYS.I know I have written a lot here so let me just end with this...I thank you also for letting me see SUPERGIRL the movie, listed in your faves.HELEN SLATER was the PERFECT woman to play SUPERGIRL in my opinion and she was underrated.Sure it would have been nice to see more of a 'serious'version of SUPERGIRL done but still,I ENJOYED the movie mostly/simply because it was SUPERGIRL! I wish they had used her in SUPERFRIENDS in the 70s or ANY other cartoon/animated series back then.Anyone else agree? It would have been great to see the SUPERGIRL of the 70s,or earlier, flying around!

Hi! I really enjoy the website a lot. I'm a huge fan of the Supergirl movie, and enjoyed reading the page with the information about the movie. It's so sad that Ilya Salkind expressed the viewpoint that Helen Slater as Supergirl was not appealing enough to men, and that Supergirl had to be more sexy in order for the film to be successful. The character of Supergirl is a hero to many fans, and she certainly deserved a lot more respect from the films producer.

I've always been a big fan of Supergirl. She was my first crush when I was a kid. I wrote an article about the various Supergirls that we've seen over the years, and how she reflects her times. The link is here:

Scroll down to the bottom left hand side of the main page, click on SUPERGIRL:1960 to 1980 to start.

Hi all,

Its nice to know there are many fans of kara :)

With the hype of superman and all, i fear poor supergirl is shoved away and forgotten.

But this is not so :)

Im a composer and i just did a peice for a possible Supergirl II opening theme. If you want to hear it, click the link above.

Hopefully, i will compose more.

Hey, I LOVE this site. Thank you so much for posting all that information about the Supergirl(s). I was confused for a bit and you really clearled a lot of stuff up. My favorite Supergirl though, has to be Kara II. (Most recent.) I love the way they've drawn her and given her such a strength and power about her. Michael Turner is such an amazing artist. Plus, I really admire the relationship Kara II & Wonderwoman have. I can see how W.W is a mother fiture to Kara II.

Anyway, I had been searching and looking for any place that would give me info and pictures and you're is by far superior to anything I've seen already out there. Keep it up! Can't wait for the newest Kara Supergirl graphic novel. -Rachel

Yep, DC's right hand doesn't know what its left hand is doing. From what I'm hearing, DC editorial seems to have left a lot of writers in the dark about the changes to the DC Universe, as characters are "forgetting" or saying things that contradict events from just a few issues ago, or acting completely out of character (like Batgirl). It's like Crisis on Infinite Earths all over again. Everyone's acting crazy, a lot of things don't make sense, and some of the writers seem clueless about what's going on. It'll probably take months for everyone to get on the same page. Just like every time DC "fixes" things.

Hi. Love the site dedicated to one of the great cultural icons that's so consistently mistreated by the folks in charge.

About Linda in the new continuity, Geoff Johns stirred the pot a little while back, with this...

"As for this...huh? Linda Danvers hasn't been retconned out at all.
Simple - Joe Chill killed Bruce Wayne's parents. Wonder Woman helped found the JLA. Superman did stuff before Metropolis...more to come on this.
Where'd you get that idea that Linda Danvers didn't exist?"

http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26089&page=2&pp=16

So, Matrix is out of continuity, but Linda isn't? Or, did the EIC just not tell Geoff something? Nice that we had this Big Event to clarify and simplify everything... {heavy sarcasm)

Thanks folks for the Infinite Crisis info, but I know about it. And it really doesn't matter that much to me. I'm just glad I'm not a Connor fan or I'd really be upset right now. DC has a long history of reinventing, rebooting, retconning and killing off popular characters every time the wind changes. They're not going to stop anytime soon even though it's a stupid way to do business. They're just that dumb. Yes, the DC executive editor has said that Linda Danvers/Supergirl "never existed" in the "new universe" created by Infinite Crisis, but it doesn't actually mean anything. You have the comics in your hands: they didn't poof out of existence. This is just another silly reboot because they're too uncreative to write stories that develop characters in a believable way, so they have to trade in shock and spectacle. DC has written themselves into a really good corner with this one, and I'm not straining my brain trying to sort out the logistics. They just don't work. Best to ignore it if you can.

this supergirl is one of the best i must say my favourate is kara zor el not the new one but the classic one but she was killed off in crisis so i took to reading the matrix one and have thought the story every month was really good so i decided 2 collect the back issues and the only one ime missing now is that dc 1 million story. And this website is amazing ime glad you took the time to make this website its very informative about all the supergirls thank you very much.

Your website is fantastic! No one has ever given the Supergirl character as much depth or sympathy as Peter David, and I'm not alone when I say that I appreciate you keeping the memory of this great series alive.

By contrast, today we have the new iteration of the Kara Zor-El Supergirl, who seems to think the best way to relate to supervillains is by the miracle of childbirth.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/Juunigou/gagreflex.gif

(The context by which I discovered this pic and crowd reaction can be found in this weblog community: http://www.livejournal.com/community/scans_daily/1026531.html

I thought you might be interested in seeing that out of purely morbid academic interest. Somehow I doubt this sort of dialogue would take place if Peter David were still in charge.

I love your site! It is the most comprehensive site on the Matrix/Linda Danvers/Earth Angel of Fire/Supergirl that I have ever come across - and come to think of it, it's the only site. (I honestly should have written here earlier since I've been haunting this website for months and refer to it frequently.)

One quick thing, though, that I noticed today. I hope you don't mind me pointing this out, but over in the area of the site where you give the synopsis for this arc: "Many Happy Returns" - The Kara Arc (issues #75-80) - you wrote that the Kara Zor-El in that arc was from pre-Crisis Earth-Prime. That's actually somewhat incorrect, because pre-Crisis, Earth-Prime was supposed to be "our Earth", that is a world without superheroes - except for two instances, one with a superhero named Ultraa (who moved to Earth-1 once he realized that Earth-Prime wasn't yet ready for superheroes), and then in a story just before Crisis on Infinite Earths by a young Clark Kent who just discovered he had super powers. The Kara Zor-El in MHR is actually the Kara from Earth-1.

(Gaah! Can I run on or what? My apologies.)

I just thought you might want to know that...and I really am sorry if this came out to be rude at all? It sincerely isn't meant to be. :-d

But seriously, thank you for this amazing site!

Wonderful Supergirl site! I've been a fan of hers since I was a toddler with the movie, and now I follow her through the comics. I have the ones from the new series (I really hope they make her have a real personality soon...) some from the 80's and 60's, and most from my favorite- the Peter David era. She's gone through so many changes and craziness but at the core she's always meant bravery and spirit, so I'm still a fan. Keep up the great work! =)

I have seen and read all the pages of your Supergirl site and it is wonderfull. As I am 57 I also like the Silver Age Supergirl and my sites are about her (sorry, in Spanish). I put all her appearances in the Silver Age. But I agree with you considering Peter David's Supergirl, including the begining when she was Matrix or Mae. The link between Matrix and Peter David's is excellent. I am now making a site about the last Supergirl and Superman 2005 and I have put a link to yours http://www.usuarios.lycos.es/kalel2005/ See the link below the Supergirl image. Congratulations!

This is a most exelent site. I fell in love with the Peter David series with issue 1, feeling that S.G. was finally given the depth of charecter she deserved. Other than that I'm not sure what I can say that hasnt been said already. Other than this site is going to be added to my favorites list. "I laugh in the face of danger. Great site...enjoyed reading a female perspective on Supergirl...'human females don't have that long of a torso'...well, technically, Kara isn't 'human'... ;) I'm cautiously optimistic about the new series...though, based on the solicitations for the first two issues, Kara is battling her way through the DCU...not happy about this...series will lose my interest quickly if it's a series of fights and the main character feels she has to 'prove' herself with her fists...looking forward to further updates and your take on the new Supergirl series(you are going to try it out, aren't you?)

They should remake Supergirl the movie and base it on Peter David's rendition. Buffy's Michelle Gellar would be the perfect match.
P.S. I hate the new Batman Superman, Supergirl. When is she going to have the life she deserves with out the dumb blond big breasted persona. Supergirl should have a life and kick some ass. Peter David was on the right foot but it slowly went wrong in the middle. There should have been real evil and serious forces to deal with. He could have done so much to make her a stronger character. Hey if anyone wants to bring back Linda Danvers contact me I'll make her kick that new skinny blond bimbos ass!!

When is DC going to listen to it's female readers??

Last week while wasting a hour channel surfing. I stopped on the Cartoon Network and watched the last ten minutes of a cartoon with Supergirl in her new costume. She and Batgirl were battling someone who was being very naughty. Anyway I had been confused about Supergirls new costume till I found this Web Site. You have a very well thought out and presented site! I haven't read a comic book in almost twenty years so Your web site was quite informative. If a new Supergirl movie was going to be made soon, (yeah right!) I would say Hillary Duff in the new costume would be my vote.

I'm looking for the white, cropped top, with the black trim. The closest I found is a baby tee with blue trim. I'm in the Los Angeles area or any internet retailer would do. Thanks for the help!

I was devastated to see the comic come to an end, but not as much when Kara was killed off in Crisis on Infinite Worlds. I was even more dismayed that she never found her daughter and now Superman will be meeting Linda's daughter she had on the alternate reality when she tried to take Kara's place on the "Crisis" arc story. It is just to sad to image Linda searching alternate realities for her daughter and all the time her daughter found her way to Linda's original reality only to miss her. What a brain fry! Sort of desperate effort by uncreative writers.

Please continue with the site & keep us informed of Linda's guest appearances in other comics.

Hello! :). Prior to my last message I've thought about it and I have further reasons of why her costume should stay just the way it is or was :) Her appearance should never matter,..she's an independent female who's responsible for our planet's safety. Her job as being a hero does matter and she has no time to think of changing her outfit lol. Whocares what she's wearing?!:P.........I wonder if some of these heroes in this "Justice League" actually have sometime to atleast wash their clothes...? :P

I've been a fan of Supergirl since I was 8 or 9 years old and there's a question I've been meaning to ask about the costume changing with time....Why change it's look so often? lol...I mean the first look from the movie was it's best look :) Leave it alone! lol...Imagine if Supergirl were to be a realistical person and knowing that people demand for a variety of looks lol...I don't think she'd appreciate that lol...I ask "her" if she wants a new style of costumes to wear because I honestly think she'd disagree to this "Madonna" style of living lol.. :)

HI Michelle! Since my daughter, Olivia, started chemotherapy at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Rhode Island last year, I started buying Supergirl issues from the gift shop there and discovered a great story. My daughter is a supergirl in her own right and I hope to collect all the back issues of this current SG for her. I found your site today and it has been a great help in explaining the history and what issues I need to look for. Keep up the excellent work.

I visited this site in a dull moment. I just wanted to see what I'd get if I typed the name "Supergirl" to a search engine. I spent well over an hour reading various parts of the site. I found it interesting & very enjoyable. Thank you very much.

This site is great. It's one of the best resource on Supergirl. My only recommendation put some video file from the movie and the anime serie. It will become the best.

Hey! What's all this BS about Supergirl having powers superman doesn't have, some more powerful than he has, and Kryptonite not affecting her? Anybody who grew up on Superman like I did, knows that Supergirl has the same powers, the same strengths and the same weaknessess that Superman does. And they're just as strong as each other. They're from the same planet for crying out loud! Krypton! They're blood related cousins...or did everybody just convienently forget that? Whoever made this change, made one hell of a mistake.

Like the site. I've followed Girl of Steel since her early days in the back of Action Comics and am curently looking for pictures from the "hot pants" years. But a very nice tribute.

Great site! I've always liked Supergirl, but only have a spotty collection of comics myself so (when in comes to DC, I'm usually a collector of one shots and/or small story lines). I was rather appreciative to see the history of her character, as well as the new description of powers.

Hi Michelle!
SUPERGIRL is one of my very favorite comics! I only started reading the book this year and I fell in love with Linda and her wonderful cast of supporting characters. I became such a SG junkie that I had to track down all the back issues. Now I have a complete set (So far!) of ALL of Peter David's issues! And I also bought the new Supergirl DVD! I just wanted to tell you that yours is my favorite website dedicated to Supergirl! Your enthusiasm for Linda and her Angelic alter-ego is exciting and a joy to behold! Thanks for making this site such a positive place to celebrate the greatest heroine in comics! : )

The pictures that you put in some of your sections are the best specially the ones where linda is changing to supergirl. I hope that you update your page as soon as you can and maybe you should put a gallery or a section of the many excuses that supergirl has to tell to safe others
