The Black Tattoo was an amazing book. One that I couldn't put down. Action in every corner, this book is sure to alert your senses to every move Jack makes. Watch Charlie though, he's a tricky one! This book kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what could Sam possibly throw in next! My favorite word from the book is "Typical". Read this book and you will see why NO OTHER BOOK can even come close to comparing to this one!

I liked book, although finding "God" to be so weak was a little strange. He did pull through at the end with information. If you do a book about hell will heaven follow? It could be just as hard to deal with.

We have a brand of yogurt here called Stoneyfield. I usually buy chocolate flavored ones and have 1 in the morning for breakfast. The other night while shopping for them I saw the chocolate ones were sold out, so I got a couple of rasberry ones. The fruit is on the bottom and you have to mix it. Two mornings ago as I opened the rasberry yogurt and started to mix it looked exactly like "sick". From that moment on I knew exactly what Jack felt the moment he saw the goop in the bowl. That was it for me...no more rasberry yogurts!!!! I'm officially done!!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!! Thought you'd get a kick out of that one!

I absolutely loved the Black Tatoo! My cousins bought and read this book while on a trip the Dominican Republic but had to leave it behind when they were coming home. They urged me to read this book, so, being curious and an avid reader, I decided to.

Best. Decision. Ever! From the second I turned the first page, I knew this book was going to be impossible to put down. Several days later, when I finally did, I was so pleased with myself for finding a great, underappreciated book!

It was excellent! All of the characters were very well designed, you made them seem just like your average people (except in Esme's case, I suppose) that were thrown into something much more extraordinary then they could possibly imagine. Normal, average kids, just like me, suddenyl given masgical powers and transported to, of all places, Hell!

I loved the way that you portrayed Hell, too. You began with the usual stereotypes, and then right after you set us up for more of those, you just veered off and took things in your own direction, and it was brilliant :)

WEll, i'm not going to wreck anything else for those who perhaps haven't read the book yet, so I'd just like to finish by saying that I hope you write more fantastic books like this one!

Sincerely,

Brad.

You've probably heard this so many times before, but your book is wicked awesome! I finished it in just one day during my April vacation. My only question is this: Was the awakening of butterflies an early attempt by the Scourge to connect (through Charlie) with Esme? Or am I reading too far into it?

This book was fantastic! It was absoutly amazing! I wouldn't say that my favourite colour is black and that I ever want ot get a tattoo, but this was really good. The plot and the story line were very intertaining and I couldn't put it down, until my mum got mad and told me to, then I really didn't have a choice, but that's another story altogether. Don't stop writing.

WOW!

I've read and re-read this book at least 7 times since first getting it and it's by far one of the best things I've read. The characters are so well thought out and the fight scenes kick so much arse. ;] Esme's a great chracter as well (Though she's warring over being my favourite with God and Jack!!!) and it's nice to see a no-nonsense female lead in a fantasy book.

And black humour? Yes please. =D

Thanks for a great read, Sam!

Congrats on the LoneStar Award nomination! I work in middle school library. I read a lot of YA fiction. I'm enjoying Black Tattoo, I just have one small problem... I find that placing the author's name and the title of the book on the side of the page to be very distracting. I know it's a publishing gimmick but it doesn't work for me and it makes the book harder to read. FWIW I think my kids are going to enjoy this one!

Didn't guess where it was goin' and just a hint of Neil Gaiman! I mean that as a huge complement. Can't wait for more....is there more.....how 'bout now?...is there more now?

Meant to add this... Possible sequel in the making? A continuation of Esme, Jack, and Charlie's lives after their return? How's the visit from the Chinj turn out and what happens to Number 3 (aka Number 1). Wondered if they might join The Sons or start another group since the Brotherhood seems to have ended!?!

I read the book, and I can't wait to read the next one. I go to a Catholic school, and I had to hear from the other kids how I should not be reading a book about demons. A kid read the Da Vinci Code for a book report, and they did not even care. I read the book in about six or seven days. I just could not put it down. It always keep your attention. I would love to learn when the new book comes out, and that goes on the list of books that I can't read until they come out. Like Inkdawn and the Dragon Fire series. I think I have said enough or to much. That's all. Good Bye.

I really loved your book! I know that you are currently working on another novel, but I strongly suggest that you should make a sequel.I want to know if Jack and Esme hook up,and, why in Hell did they let Jagmat become the new emperor?!? I also really was entertained by the Chinj character that you created. This book was richly detailed and kept me on my toes. Major cliffhangers. Loved that. Anyways, I reaaaaaallllllly think you should look into a sequel when you are done with the book you are currently working on. Thank you for the wonderful book. It was, simply put, awesome.

I'm amazed by the quality of this read. When I first picked up this book in the bookstore, I thought it would be a horror like thing(although I new it was geared to my age and up; I read The Wizard, The Witch, and the Two Girls from Jersey, which had an intro to the book) but after I read it, I realized that it had a lot of fantasy and(believe it or not)realistic fiction! I don't want to give anything away, but I really enjoyed the ending, Chapter The End to the end of the book, it was so cleverly well done! Is there a sequel? There defiantly should be(*hint*hint*)

Loved the book!!!!!!

Wow. Brilliant. I was up until 12 on a school night reading the Balck Tattoo just to find out whether or not Esme dies or not. I went to sleep happy:). Certainly the best book i've read since Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz. It's not often that one comes across a book where the characters are so intellegent and interesting and likable that you actually care about them (not like in, say, Spiderman that you're actually disappointed when he DOESN'T die). Amazing book. You have teh mad skillz.
