The Black Tattoo is definitely one of my favorite books :D
The whole idea of it is just mind bottling (like when your thoughts get so confused it's like they're trapped in a bottle XD yes I do watch too many Will Ferrell movies) and I absolutely adore the plot.
Esme is amazing hahah, but don't tell me how it ends! I still have thirty pages left to read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *flips faster* MUST FINISH!!!!!! :D

I really liked your book. I guess you achieved what you set out to do - the book got too exciting for me to sleep. It must have been midnight when I finished it ;)
Anyway, I have a question for you. Throughout the book, I couldn't get past a feeling that Jack was more or less, well, useless. Charlie was the sort-of-antagonist and Esme was the superhuman character, but Jack really didn't do anything until the end. Did you ever get a feeling that Jack was being sidelined a little too often?
A: Maybe this'll help, Harry?

Comments and/or questions:

Hi!
I was in the library searching for a book that would...how should I say...fill my need for a good book. Yes in fact, I am a book addict and I have read books ahead of my -supposed- capability. I still find reading much too easy, and I like to edit grammar and spelling mistakes when I read (a habit I involuntarily do).

The day I picked up The Black Tattoo was a day that I really needed a nice thick book -preferably over 500 or 600 pages- and was looking for some book that could prehaps compare to my all time favorite, Twilight. The Black Tattoo has met and exceeded what the cover shouts to its readers.

When I first picked it up, my first reaction was; "What kind of crazy person puts a shirtless dude with a tattoo on his back on the front cover of a book?"

But I remembered that you can't judge a book by it's cover, so I gave it a chance. Now, looking back, I think it was a REALLY good idea that I gave the book a chance because now, it's on my top ten (Esme's name gave a bonus because the "motherly" twenties vampire in the Cullen Coven in Twilight had the same name:P)

Just want to say...

YOUR BOOK PWNS!:D

Comments and/or questions:

A very good read, however, my copy of the book was a misprint, and had some 30 pages repeated, which I realized right away as soon a the senence on one page to the next was incoherent. I checked the page number, and it had gone from 378-347, so I just flipped over the extra few pages back to 379.

I found that while for the majority of the book, there was no swearing, exept for when raymond died, which, was the exact same word uttered exactly once in eragon, which shows the age you where targeting was the same. I however am glad that your book turned out less popular, (not out of spite) but just because I would abhore the thought of such good books being ruined with action movies.

Anyways, good job and good luck.

Holy mother pickle. This book was one of the most incredible books I've ever read. And I've read my fair share of books. This book beat Twilight by a long shot, and I know many people who think it's the best. I just say no way! The Black Tat wins every time hands down. I'm probably not even doing justice to the book with my comments, it was that good! Thanks for doing the world a favor by bringing in some good literature. I saw it at the book store and thought it seemed interesting so I bought it.
I began reading it a monday morning and got so into it I finished it in four days! I have never read a book so quick.
And have never read a book that long. But it was so good I had to.
And what I would love to see the most Is a whole new story with Esme or Jack making an appearance in.
And MOSTLY A MOVIE!!!
It would be awesome!
Especially with your imagination of all the different demons!

Hey,I LOVED bookŁĄ:D It's was imaginative, suspenseful [which, ahem, led me to flip to later events >.>;;] and just....kinda fills up a little hole in ya,...ya know? And I totally loved the London speeches in it like git. I don't know if you know it but your humor in the book made me laugh laugh. Not in my mind haha-let's-read-on.
Anywho, I have a few questions I hope you answer:

1. How do you figure out names or looks for the monsters? Like the Chinj? [They're actually kinda cute in my mind lol]
2. How do you imagine the dragon's inside? It seems kind of hard...
3. It was something about Hell....oh well. Here's my next question. How do you find a publisher [or are they called agents first?] to read your mauscripts? I know I'm young but I really do plan on becoming an author. Although I'm actually procrastinating quite a bit. But I really wanted to know how to get one and do you have to pay them? >.<;

Thanks for reading and/or answering my questions! :] LOVED the Black Tattoo. Can you just make a small book about Jagmat coming into Earth and Jack and Esme's relationship? If you don't, then, ah well, I tried. :P

Wow, I'm probably the oldest poster here, and that makes me feel a bit creepy. Anyway I stumbled accross this wonderful, brilliant novel by accident while browsing in my local bookstore. I love the fanasy genre and I love how Black Tat simply turns it on it's ear. It's fast paced, engaging and most of all, fun to read. I'm re-reading it for the fourth time to tide me over until I can find a copy of TIM. one question though, are there any other books in the works? Because as great as BT is as a stand alone adventure, I do believe I'm not alone whe I say I'd like to see more of Jack, Esme and the gang. Just something to consider Mr. Enthoven.

It was a really good book (though the report I have to do on it puts a damper on the reading. Ha.), but I would've liked a little more comic relief and maybe a few more synonyms because I must've read "blue flowers behind ___'s eyes' about 60 times. x3 Either way, it was a well thought up book and I liked the plot. Good job, Sam E. ^^

P.S. I think you spelled inquired wrong in the book. o.o You spelled it 'enquired', which I looked up and it directed me to Britannica for whatever reason. Maybe I'm wrong. Sorry for my spelling nazi tendencies <.<;

Well, The black tattoo was by far one of the most intriguing books I've read by far, however, the beginning was much to sudden. Really, what teenager is going to follow some guy in a suit who gave you your credit card back. Other than that, it's at the top of my list with Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials!

You probably have already been asked this but are you going to make a sequel to this book? This is the first book i've read in a while and i enjoyed it alot, because it reminded me of how me and my friends are and how we kinda wish the world was to. And another thing i read the movie question thing and I bet if this was made into a movie you would have crwods all around movie theaters to see it. 10/10

I'd say that this is CLEARLY one of my FAVORITE books!

It helped me alot on my language skills, too. XD

Dude- this has got to be the best thing i have read in SO long. the action just kept me on the edge! and indeed, as with any good book- the black tattoo gave me the best lot of inspiration I've had in ages- now I'm to write some stuffs of my own, AND! yes, and, i plan to do some fanart- because i loved the Sons. Those guys just made my.. whatwasit- whole MONTH! Number 3/1 is just amazing all around- so doing fanart of him there XD.
And thank you so mush for the tips given- I always struggle to finish stuff off because I have an online comic going at the same time, and exams and allsorts, however this still doesn't give me an excuse, so like you said- I'll sit down and do what i have to do to finish this thing off.
Thank you for a wonderful book- hooked and waiting for more, don't wanna keep me hungry do you!

I love your book its just the ending that kind of let me down i wish there would of been something between jack and esme this is my side of how things work out in the end jack finds a way to get out of class and goes to the fracture where he greets esme and they go through the fracture without being noticed using esmes new magic abilities they go to the r=throne room where they greet jagmat and they setup a way where demons can visit earth one time a year using a human disguise. afterwards jack and esme go to the school where esme waits for him outside so they can go out for a day of fun then they go on from there to the theatre jack asks if she can teach him how to fight esme agrees to the condition that they can go out tomorrow and after a few very embarassing knock downs from esme she asks for his number (which correct me if im wrong but she doesn't have) well things develop from there and ican say that charlie turns out to be very jealous ;D

Dear Mr. Enthoven,
Very formal, eh? But anyhow I'm not really one for being formal. More on the side of being completely out there and having an over active mind, causing my 'normal' friends to shift those awkward steps backwards away from me. However my other friends just go with it. I'll cut to the chase, your book was...completely... utterly ...AMAZING! By far one of the most interesting tales I've ever immersed myself in. My favorite part of the whole book has to be Jack's character, as "bloody typical" as he is, he is pretty awesome and quite interesting. I also find the accents pretty schweet. Living where I do, you don't get cool accents like that, the only thing I get is: Shame, which rings loudly throughout my school and the pterodactyl noises that my friend so graciously makes. It creeps a lotta people out, but I've gotten used to my Latin class being a Jurassic Park. But anyway, I very much look forward to your next book. And for the time being, I'll be on my desperate search for finding the Fracture...which won't get me very far seeing as I live in the US. Oh shucks. Eh, well, I'll keep my hopes up for stumbling upon some creatures from Hell. Keep up the oh-so-interesting writing.
Sincerely,
A girl desperate for something interesting
