Tutto inizia a Norma, un piccolo comune della provincia di Latina. Dopo quattro anni di ricerche e sperimentazioni, la band raggiunge un intesa che permette di arrivare a “QUELLO CHE HO …” un auto composizione ne riassume l’impronta e l’essenza musicale. Aspirazioni: noi siamo ben disposti a tutto !!! Siamo in continua ricerca e speriamo che il nostro grido venga udito. Una caratteristica importante che rende il gruppo (forse) meritevole di un po’ di attenzione è l’originalità della propria musica sia nel genere che nei contenuti musicali e letterari, pertanto con la speranza di dare anche alle s.v. un impressione ( a dita incrociate) positiva alleghiamo alla presente il prodotto di quattro meravigliosi anni (che speriamo diventino una vita) passati alla Ramasuja. I RAMASUJA Chitarra e voce: Carlo Santucci E’ l’autore di gran parte dei brani del gruppo; l’idea Ramasuja è nata da lui; ciò che da singolarità a Carlo è la verve che sfodera ogni qual volta si suona. Alto - soprano sax e voce: Cesare Capri Autore di alcuni brani; arrangiatore di altri; è arrivato a Norma nel 1997da Fasano (BR) e dopo aver conosciuto Carlo si è subito unito al gruppo. Chitarra solista: Mauro Guarnacci Anche lui nel gruppo dal 1997, ha dato subito colore ed armonia al gruppo grazie ad una spiccata fantasia effettistica. Nei concerti? Fa muovere il palco. Basso elettrico: Giampiero Cappelletti È il fonico del gruppo… anche lui è entrato a far parte del gruppo fin dagli inizi; per il gruppo è l’elemento indispensabile, perché oltre al basso (meraviglioso strumento che dona corpo alla musica), ci rende possibili le prove data la sua abilità tecnica. Batteria: Fabio Molinari È nel gruppo da circa un anno ed ha ridimensionato la sessione ritmica. Come in tutti i contesti musicali il batterista deve saper dare la carica al gruppo e deve carpire i colori del brano e Fabio ne l’esempio più calzante. Siamo sicuri di non essere ancora al completo e vorremmo che la formazione, con l’arricchimento della sessione di fiati e con un organico più numeroso, acquisirebbe un sound ancora più interessante ….. … NON RESTA ALTRO CHE METTERCI ALLA PROVA …. Finisterre recently did a tour of Mexico, 7 dates, almost 4,000 people saw the band during that tour, and the band appeared in national media, tv, magazines, newspapers. MJR001 Elton Dean/Mark Hewins "Bar Torque" (coming July 20) Saxophonist Elton Dean has long been acknowledged as a supreme improviser in many musical contexts, starting with the Soft Machine in the early 1970s, through his large body of work with the cream of the British jazz scene (most notably with pianist Keith Tippett) as well as Carla Bley and most of the musicians associated with the famed 'Canterbury' scene. "Bar Torque" presents an improvised duo session with guitarist Mark Hewins, a longtime collaborator with a unique talent for atmospherics. The music on this release focuses on the most lyrical dimension of Dean's saxophone playing, his melodic outbursts inspired by Hewins' delicate, often abstract, harmonic base. The musical path treaded is unpredictable and utterly original. "Bar Torque" is improvisation at its most touching and universal. MJR002 Finisterre "Storybook" (live) (available now) Finisterre is one of the most interesting bands to have emerged from the international 'progressive rock' scene in recent years. While drawing on the rich legacy of landmark 1970s Italian pioneers, Finisterre is a band keen to experiment and explore many different musical directions, while managing to establish a unique and recognizable identity. While their three studio albums to date have been critical and commercial successes, the band's forte lies above all in their breathtaking live performances. "Storybook" documents Finisterre's first American concert, in the Summer of 1997, and the music here is as adventurous and gripping as we've been led to expect from the band. The repertoire consists of revisited and often extended versions of compositions from Finisterre's first two studio albums ("Finisterre" and "In Limine"), plus a superb cover of PFM's anthem "Altaloma". Inoltre la mia canzone NEW MILLENNIUM e' stata scelta per essere inserita nella compilation FLASHBACK2000 che sara' distribuita in DUE MILIONI E MEZZO DI COPIE in tutto il mondo!!! **BIOGRAFIA** Nato a Palermo l'11 Marzo del 1975, Manuel "Vanethian" Marino si è fatto una cultura musicale da autodidatta, e, solo in un secondo tempo, ha preso lezioni di solfeggio, chitarra finger picking e chitarra jazz. Sebbene la chitarra lo appassionasse, ogniqualvolta decideva di dedicarvisi a tempo pieno, cambiava idea. Il suo interesse per l'informatica lo aveva portato infatti a preferire la composizione musicale midi sequencing all'esibizione live!, tanto che ha via via abbandonato gli studi di chitarra per addentrarsi nel mondo della computer music. Con i suoi sintetizzatori professionali e le sue chitarre ha così composto diversi brani che spaziano dalla musica classica alla musica techno, generando una eccezionale e ben riuscita fusione di stili (che è poi il tratto caratteristico della sua musica). **DISCOGRAFIA** ELECTRIC BLUE - IL NUOVISSIMO CD!! contiene brani Dance ed Experimental Jazz nonche' una nuova versione di New Millennium, il mio pezzo hit scelto da mp3.com per essere inserito in una compilation ufficiale contenente i 100 brani piu' famosi ed originali del 2000. NEW MILLENNIUM - Il primo CD uscito, #8 nella Top Ten italiana dei cd venduti di mp3.com! Si tratta di un CD molto fresco, che unisce alle sonorita' New Age rilassanti e sognanti, alcuni pezzi di musica classica ed elettronica. Contiene NEW MILLENNIUM, pezzo New Age #1 nella classifica italiana e #17 in quella mondiale. Musiche alla Mike Oldfield, Alan Parsons e Ray Lynch. GALAXY CHANNEL 7 - Cd di musica esclusivamente elettronica, con riferimenti a Vangelis, Berlin, Arkenstone, Jarre, Tangerine Dream. E' il primo cd di musica esclusivamente spaziale, che narra a suon di musica d'atmosfera le avventura di un'astronave, GALAXY IX, nel suo viaggio di esplorazione dell'universo. DREAMSCAPES - E' un cd molto vario, con pezzi new age e synth (dance e trance melodica e progressive e symphonic elettronica). Rispetto agli altri due cd, e' il piu' "movimentato", piu' aggressivo e con ritmi dance, tribali ed alternative. AMAZING DIMENSIONS - E' il VERY BEST, con i pezzi migliori dei 3 cd precedenti. Molti fans mi avevano chiesto un cd "riassuntivo".. e cosi' l'ho fatto, con un cover molto bello e accattivante in computer graphics. Manuel Marino) is a great collection of analog synth pieces. Cutting a wide swath of styles, from Berlin-esque sequenced thumpers to romantic new age to dramatic Arkenstone-ish cinematic soundscapes, Amazing Dimensions (which culls songs from his previous mp3.com releases) showcases the artist's many talents as both a composer and a performer. Manuel's strengths include his proficiency at the various genres listed above plus his ability to infuse his music with a healthy dose of imagination and humanity. I was always aware of a human connection to the music as it came out of my speakers. The only weakness on the album is that the songs (there are fifteen of them) are too short. Not from a value-price standpoint (although the CD is shorter in duration than some others - it's under forty minutes long), but because some of the musical themes and ideas that Manuel/Vanethian explores are so good that I wanted a lot more - I'd like to see some of these soundscapes go on for six, seven or even ten minutes. In some ways, that's a huge compliment. After all, with some music (not this CD, though) I can't wait for it to end! With the aforementioned fifteen cuts, it's hard to single any out, but I'll try just the same. The album begins with an evocative flute evolving into a great thumping bass line on "Beginning," bringing to mind TD and Schulze crossed with Tim Wheater! "I Want To Believe" has more of the warm yet powerful washes of analog synths, this time paired with pulses and bell-like tones and synth-chorals. "Dreamscapes" is the longest cut on the album at five-and-a-half minutes and its almost regal synth work is woven around a dramatic midtempo synth rhythm. This one (as do most of the songs on Amazing Dimensions) begs to be cranked up. Later in the song, funky wah-wahing synths compete with a pulse-pounding bass synth. Still more cool music can be found on the way-too- short "Savage World" (which could be Richard Bone circa Electropica with its snazzy bossa nova-like rhythm and airy flute), "The Net 2032" which, I swear, could have been a cut on the Wendy Carlos-penned soundtrack to Tron, and the elegiac "The Palladins Way" - mournful yet triumphant with muted synth trumpet fanfare. This promising and entertaining album closes very strongly with the three-part "Galaxy IX," a highly dramatic and well- done mini-suite that brings to mind images of rocketing through space, using flute, synth strings, timpani and other effects to reach out and pluck those galaxy-seeking heartstrings of mine. I must say that I am very impressed with Manuel/Vanethian. While the CD is not without its shortcomings (such as needing to develop the musical themes more), the music itself is so good that I have probably played Amazing Dimensions at least twice as much as I normally do before reviewing a recording. The reason is simple - I liked it. I liked it a lot. Those of you who enjoy exciting and varied melodic electronic music that flows from Berlin to Saturn and back again will, I think, be equally enthralled.
