Originally they were from Lvovo, Kherson Region and according to our relatives they kept in contact with them via mail till about 1956. At that time the government closed all communications. Her first name was Shifra Emaykina when she got married she changed her name to Eidelberg or Edelberg....not sure of the spelling in English. She had 3 children 2 girls (Sarita and Hanita) and a son whose name we don't know. I know very little about her as my grandfather never mentioned her whilst he was alive - all I have is his birth certificate. From this I know that she was in Glasgow in 1907, that she left for New Jersey and arrived at Ellis Island June 26th 1910. I believe she had a sister (don't know the name) and had a brother Samuel or Solomon. She left my grandfather behind in Glasgow where he was brought up until going to work in London at age 16. | Comments: | My sisters and I are searching for our Weinberg ancestry. Our father was Louis Weinberg (born Lewis Weinberg, July 24, 1921), son of J. William Weinberg, b. 1886 in Russia. He arrived in America at Ellis Island as an infant, but we do not know the names of his parents, or their city of origin in Russia. We do know that my father's grandfather or great grandfather was Rabbi Louis Weinberg. At some point, my grandfather became a naturalized citizen of the US, and I have contacted INS for help. | Comments: | My genealogy research has taken me back to Charles Stearns, the nephew of the Issac Stearns, mentioned in your site. Charles and his brother Nathanial were raised by Issac and Mary Stearns, in the Waltham, Ma area in the 1630's, after their father Shubael died on the cruise to the colonies or soon thereafter. Understand Issac and Shubael had a brother Daniel. All three came to MA in 1630 with the Winthrop and Saltenstall Group. Have some unreliable info their father was William Stearns (Sternes)and his father was Henry Sternes c. 1540. Do you have any reliable sources for the ansestors of Issac Stearns? My 3rd great great grandfather was Josef Aaron Oshrin, My 2nds great grandmother was Bessie Oshrin, her dausgher Mollie Vagenheim was my great great grandmother. Bessie came to the United States and settled in MA. Web sites like yours make the world a little smaller. |
