| Comments: | WOw this is a great site!! I was once a racing greyhound until I hurt my leg and I had to retire. I am only three so Im not sure what would have happened to me if my Mum hadn't moved to New Zealand from the UK looking to find a pet!! She had to search high and low as there is no re-homing program and luckily she found me. I now hang out on the sofa all day and play with Mum and her new baby. I get to sleep on their king sized bed and spend the weekends on the beach, infact the house is more like my kennel then their home!!!
I kow that Mum is looking for a boyfriend for me as I would love to have some puppies soon. If you live in NZ and you are a boy, could you ask your Mum if we could may be get together?! Fingers crossed, Mousexx |

I have just found a new mum, I have been here a full month now, and I know now just how it feels to be loved. She walks me, brushes me, hugs me, kisses me, and all i have to do is wag my tail. Theres a little person here my mum calls Beatrice. Beatrice wont leave me alone, always hugging my neck or looking at my teeth, but when she comes home from a places she calls playgroup i lick her all over her face, and she kisses me. very good web site, nobby sounds fantastic. my hubby & i have 2 greyhounds, rosie, brindle/white & mindy, fawn/brindle. rosie is 7 & fat, we have had her for 2 and half years. she was a cruelty case but has bounced back apart from bad dreams. she is quite a nutter and loves everyone. mindy is also very good natured (except cats & small dogs) we have had her for 6 months now. they love food, walks,the car and their duvets. they make us laugh so much. we think mindy was a working dog & she still has a few problems but nothing that we aren't prepared to work out, shes worth it!! greyhounds really are a pleasure to own & i could rabble on forever about my girls!! nobby would be very impressed by them, they are very pretty. |

spotty like a dalmation. We got him from the vet last December, he'd been taken there after having been dumped and knocked down. After various attempts to mend his broken leg it had to go. Nevertheless we still can't catch him when he's out for a run and is as mad as ever. He's put all his weight back on after weighing only 17 kilos. He's very greedy as you'd expect and loves chasing squirrels in the woods. Oliver is our very first dog and we love him lots. His only fault is that he's very good at sneaky smells !! |

I have adapted a bridle boy who was known as 'Emmas Breeze'. He must have been a good racer because his owners waited until he was 5 and a half before throwing him out of a car on a main road. He got run over!!! anyway I have only had him for 4 weeks (today) but hes fantastic. A bit scared when we go for walks but thats understandable :-( on the down side (for us and not him) his nose was purpose made for getting into my bin... and he's a bugger for nicking bread...and I have had to resort to the old wild west method of the water pistol to stop him chasing my two cats... but its working and they are coming around to the idea. We have called him Hovis 'cause he's brown bread kind of coloured and I love him dearly. I cant imagine life without a Greyhound in it.. (well mom says i will be on 23rd may 2001 which is my birthday, although what that means i don't really know, except ZACH whos my friend says we get pressies and treats) i have been with mom,zach the dopey dobermann and lacey the cat since july 1998 and after a shaky start, because i was so scared of everything due to being handled very roughly by my trainer, life is great. We go to the beach loads as grandma lives at the seaside , i can't believe the freedom. I'm very well behaved and have never run off i only need to go on my lead now when we are by the road. was rescued by by new family back in january. Before i came to live with them i had to stay in a kennel all day. But now life is great. I get to play with the humans, they give me lovly food and take me for really great walks. I have two friends, one is called lucy and she helped me settle in by telling me what i was and wasn't allowed to do and the other one is amber who is the boss. I got my own sofa and that really nice. The humans keep telling me they are taking me on holiday to go for nice long walks but i don't know what they mean. I love to go in the car for long journeys. i have got lots of toys and a few i shouldn't have, like the humans shoes. Before coming to live with my mum, Karen and Dad, Colin I lived at the TIA Greyhound Rescue Centre in Yorkshire. I did have one home for a week over Christmas but that was just a temporary foster home. I'm just a pup really, only 18 months old, didn't fancy that racing lark so I ran so slow my trainer gave up on me and took me and my two brothers to TIA. I wonder if you and I could be related since I have a pose just like your Roaching one. I hope my Dad will let me have my own web site one day so that you will be able to see me. for research but my mom got me out after 1 1/2 months. I was really unsure at first but since coming here in Nov. 1998 I have figured out that it's pretty cool being a pet. I go to work with Mom every day and get to run in a horses arena every afternoon and I have a brother Brutus He's a mini-daschaund. So along came Henry at christmas, boy is he strange, but to be fair he is a bit younger than me. We have a great life now plenty of long walks followed by even longer sleeps and loads of love. scruffy cross terrier and I was discovered by my family in a Dog pound, my dad fell for me staight away, my mum still can not believe we went to look at dogs while we were on holiday (6 hours from Auckland!!) They even had to stay an extra 3 days, because i was not allowed to be released until i had been in there for a week! I have them tied around my little claw........every night i sneek into their bedroom, jump on the bed and mum says this is the last time you are going to do this......6 months later, i still do it.....ha ha. Their bed is so much more comfortable than my bed! My mum and big sister are both Barrovians, my dad is a Geordie, my little sister is a Kendalian and me i am a pure born Kiwi.......nice site.....my mum is doing a site on our family living in New Zealand.....i am going to be on it soon.....take care, and don't go chasing too many taxis, otherwise they might start charging you the going rate!! good with my foster mum and dad, and my last owners still want me, except they have two cats who have gave them an ultimatum - it's him or us. They won.... I love people. I really do. I'm affectionate, obedient and quick to learn - with or without treats! I'm happy on three short walks each day, even though I won loads of races in my 5 years when I was called Rising Flame. I must admit to being a bit full of myself. My coat is soft, silky and black, I have a laughing face and love going to the pub - especially when I'm given my favourite treat - crisps. I am friendly with all sizes of dogs, and play with a Westie called Harvey. My foster mum and dad have their own greyhound and a whippet, but also foster a shy greyhound called Nellie who is looking for a new home like me. |
