God bless you, John Phillips, Mama Cass, Denny Doherty, John Lennon, George Harrison, Janis and many others. May they be by God`s side and you, keep trucking, boy. We still want to hear and read about you for a loooooooonnnnnnngggg time. Best hugs from Hécules and Angela. Please, answer, ok? |

| Comments: | Scott, since I found San Francisco on Youtube, I can't stop listening to your beautiful voice, and play the video often. It brough back memories of my carefree youthful days. This was one of my very favorite songs when I was a teenager. Watching the video from the Monterey Pop Festival, brought me bact to that time...wishing that I had my drivers license and car, so I could drive up there, and be a part of that festival. ***sigh*** to be young and carefree again...Thank you for such a beautiful song...and thanks to John Phillips, for letting you sing the song...it was meant for your voice to sing. Stay well and happy! ~Karen~ |

| Comments: | We heard this song yesterday on our 702 radio station which plays golden oldies on Saturdays and Sundays. Your song San Francisco is one of my 2 all time favourites - ever! Thank you thank you thank you! I was finishing school that year 1967 and 17 going on 18. I am turning 60 later this year. This means that this song of yours has been my favourite for over 40 years. Does that not say something? I wish I had a cd with the song on it. Where on earth can I order it from. Can only listen on YouTube. |

I had just returned from my 2nd tour in Viet Nam and I started to cry as the song was just so beautiful. Everytime I hear the song, my heart opens up. No other song has ever done this to me. I still sing it regularly (though never as well as you did). Barry McGuire mentions Scott on his "Trippin' the 60's" cd, of course bringing back all the memories, the great artists, and the marvelous music of the '60's and '70's -- music that you could sing along to, music with subltlety and heart and talent (skill). The best to you Scott! Have you seen Barry recently? (My family and I spent time with Barry and Mari on a cruise last summer, and it was marvelous and memorable as well!) Cheers! Penny |

I listen to his songs on YouTube, but need to buy some of the CDs. I was an entertainer for 11 years from 1964 to 1975, so relate well to alot of the issues of the day. We saw Scott after joining up with the Mamas and the Papas in the Dallas Fairmont Hotel Venetian Room - that was a treat. If Scott does read this, email me and I can give you Margaret's contact info. She is 86, and doing pretty well. 3 of her children are in the Charlotte area, and two are in Dallas... all of them have done well. God Bless. |

| Comments: | Scott, you have an amazing voice. San Francisco proves that. I was born in 1962 and believe it's one of the best songs ever recorded. And it's even more amazing that you still sing it today (PBS) just as well as you did in '67. I am here because I read a newspaper article detailing a statment by Phil Spector's trial attorney in the news yesterday, and that led me to researching The Wrecking Crew. They were amazing too, huh. Be sure to check out the documentary on them produced by Tedesco's son. www.thewreckingcrew.tv |

| Comments: | In 1969 I bought your album with you dressed all in white walking in the woods. I was sent to Vietnam shortly thereafter. I told all my friends about how peaceful the album cover and its music made me feel. It really helped me get through my year in Vietnam. From my heart, thank you so much. I live across the river from Laughlin Nevada where you have performed several times in the past but I have had to work on the nights you were here and had no way to contact you. I was a Pit Boss at the Flamingo, now retired. Just know that not only have you moved the world with your music, you helped a young soldier get through the worst year of his life. Sincerely, Richard Poliska |

| Comments: | I remember i bought my first transistor radio. It was the same time that the song "San Francisco" was all over the radio. Stil a kid, (born in 1956)I was only a little effected by the hippie influence. But the song has never been out of my mind. I shure wish that Scot have made more songs. "San Francisco" and "What 's the difference" were great, why not more? When i play San Francisco on my guitar, people dont know the song most of the time, (am i already that old?) But still, I thank Scot for that lovely song. Hans. |

Thank you for your influence and your music. - Dan |

| Comments: | I was prompted to write this because at the end of the article, Scott was quoted as saying "I can't imagine any one having the slightest interest in me." My son, 31, had "San Francisco" on his iPod and I asked him where on earth he got this "oldie" from. I think he answered that it was on the sound track of "Forest Gump". In any case, I tracked down the song myself and now have it on my iPod as well. It really takes me back to the 60's in a big way. I find it hard to believe that he doesn't like the sound of his own voice. This is one great song. |

| Comments: | Dear Scott Although I am 35 years old right now, I first remember your song when I was 5 years old driving with my parents. They were talking in the car then my mum heard the radio announcer saying that they are about to play a song called "San Francisco by Scott Mackenzie". Mum then told the family to be quiet and turned up the song. I thought "how beautiful was that song." My mum then told me how magical San Francisco the city was. Three years later I went there and she was right the city of San Francisco was magical. Thinking of your song whilst walking around this amazing city put everything into perspective. 27 years after visiting San Francisco (and visiting many cities on this planet), it is still my favourite place and your song is just as mesmerising. Thank you |

I did something no one else had ever done on radio. I played all three parts of "What's The Differencs" back-to-back on air. In 2001 I did it again on KCR-FM (Kalamunda Community Radio). I don't think any other broadcaster has done this. It was such a beautiful song - all three parts. |

| Comments: | Scott's first solo album has been one of my favorites for over 40 years. Although I didn't own a copy when it first came out, I searched for years after I got out of the Army to find a used copy. I now own multiple copies. What a great collection of songs. This is one album I would insist on taking with me if I were banished to a deserted island. While no one can discount the lasting influence of San Francisco, my personal favorite has always been Like An Old Time Movie. That having been said, maybe today we should wear flowers in what hair we have left to celebrate Scott's 70th birthday. If you happen to read this, Happy Birthday, Scott, and many more. |

| Comments: | In 1967 at the age of 6 I dragged my poor mother all around Liverpool from one record store to another until we found one that had a copy of San Francisco. It was the first record I had ever wanted and i still have it. San Francisco is still one of the 98 songs I would take to that muythical desert island. Of course, now I've got the song on a CD but I still play the single itself from time - the B side, What's the Difference, is pretty good too. Good to hear that Scott is still around and enjoying life. |

| Comments: | I'd heard "San Francisco" on an infomercial late one night and remembered what a beautiful song it was. Stirred up some great memories. I actually dug up the video on You Tube and learned how to play it (shamefully- after all these years). |

| Comments: | My daughter is named after a singer and a song. The singer is you, her first name, the song, Come On Eileen, middle name. I have never ever forgotten your hauntingly beautiful song. Now when I listen to it, it simply makes me feel profoundly sad. It takes me back to a place and a time that can never come again. Best Wishes, Kimberly |

| Comments: | This homepage really helped me a lot! I am from Germany and have to write an essay - `California - as represented in popular music´in order to graduate - one of my chapters in this essay is named `Scott McKenzie´ and deals with the wonderful song `San Francisco´. Thanks a lot and I wish you all the best! |

| Comments: | I have been a fan of The Journeymen since their first record. I performed as a folk singer and toured extensively from the early 1960's through the mid 1970's. Still performing once a year these days but still listen to The Journeymen records weekly. Mr. McKenzie has one of those rare voices that ALWAYS brings joy to my ears and puts a smile on my face. His work on "Dark as a Dungeon" and "The Waggoner's Lad" are particularly inspiring to me and a number of my friends who grew up on the music of The Journeymen. In my opinion, the music world is a better place for having had the privilege of hearing Scott's work. I will always be appreciative... |
