COMMENTS	Blacibus Sir, Regarding safety at Sea Dog Hmm.....Seems to me it is like this....if I were standing on the street, or even at the grocery store and a man came up, stood in front of me and went to grab my hand, I would freak out. I might even hit him upside the head with my purse and run away. I would definitely report him to security. Freakin weirdo. If I was at an SCA event and a man, even the same man, took my hand.... and kissed it. I would not freak out, I would feel honored. If I were at Tortuga or Sea Dog Nights and the same man took my hand and bound it behind me to my other hand, took me to his camp and held me for ransom or sold me as a slave and maybe even flogged me.... not only would I feel honored, I would feel nothing but perfectly safe. I know all it would take is one serious cry for help and 1499 pirates, drunk or sober, stoned or straight would come to my aid wielding many sharp objects with Zeek and his Constab crew in the lead to take care of the situation promptly. I couldn't feel safer. There is honor amongst pirates and Zeek is at the fore front of that honor. I can't think of anyone who could make me feel any more secure. Of course that is because I have seen him running drug dealers off site. I have seen him interact with the mundane police in a professional manner, handling any and all security issues that arise. I know he works hard, takes his job seriously and is on call almost 24-7 during the event. You dishonor yourself sir by your negative comments about Zeek, Zorgon and the staff of Sea Dog. I too am amongst those you are so disappointed with. Just one of the many people and groups who put considerable time and energy into making these events happen. I don't believe we have met. I have not seen you at any of the planning meetings or interacted with you on the phone or on the internet months in advance of the events. Please contact me and I will be happy put you to work. We have already made plans to compose a census, create a suggestion box and issue help wanted column on the website so we can improve your experience at Sea Dog. Guess you missed that meeting. With your obvious intelligence, poise, grace and way with words, you may just be the man for the job. Of course you don't get paid and there is a dead line and it is pretty much a thankless job because there is always some jerk whining about how they didn't like this or that. They will attack your integrity, call you names and tell lies about you, drag your name in the mud, publicly no less, and do whatever they can to spoil yours and everyone else’s good time. Perhaps a different task is more to your liking. I know we are also looking for some on to take responsibility for parking. I will feel so much better knowing you will be out there keeping my dragon safe. Or you could join my Helmsman Sabin who left the comment before yours, who volunteered his time and expertise to the event medical staff to help keep those people you are so concerned with stay healthy. Or you could join the three other of my crew and lose your voice heralding the many events you are welcome to join in on. I look forward to meeting you and your crew. I can put them all to work too for the greater good. Many hands make light work. But then again the pirate’s life is not for everyone. Perhaps you will choose to not to participate at all. COMMENTS	I was sorely disapointed in the performance of 'Seadogs' staff this year. The harbor master is a dick, and half of the event security staff was on drugs. Really the head of Constab has no right to be wandering about the event smoking pot when his job is to be alert to the various public health and security risks involved when over a thousand people get together to party in the heat for four or five days. I would dearly love to attend Sea Dog 2010 but I have one main issue with it... it is normally held on the (typically) hottest weekend of the year and last year it was almost unbearable due to that fact. If the event site had more shade and/or water, that would be a big help. Do you possibly have any plans for making the creek more accessible or adding some other sort of water availability? COMMENTS	This was my first time back to Sea Dog Nights since the very first one, and it was a pretty crazy weekend. I had been to the site before, but only at Stinky War, which was a fairly small event in comparison and took place at a much cooler part of the year. I enjoyed the event overall, but I didn't like the site very much in retrospect. The lack of shade, which wouldn't be an issue if it were in the fall or the spring, was bothersome since it meant that sleeping drunks had to sleep in tents that were in direct sunlight. More bothersome, however, were the yellowjackets. My portion of the site was teeming with them. Aside from the site, it was a pretty fun event, but I was frustrated that the Tablero tournament did not occur, especially since I wait around about 2 1/2 hours while it was "about to begin." Next year, even a vague start time would be appreciated, such as "at dusk" or "within an hour after X event ends." I am certain the lack of contestants was due to the lack of information at the scuttlebutt. That aside, big compliments on the Scuttlebutt. All events, SCA or otherwise, should have an information center like the Scuttlebutt.

COMMENTS	Shade? Is that not what the sails of the ships should provide? I will bring an extra 8X8 shade. I also suggest you stop by Hancock Fabrics and get some of the SPF treatment for your clothing or shade pavilions. There are both wash in and spray on treatments. COMMENTS	There were several reasons for the site move but the biggest was that we could not come to an agreement with the site owner. If you don't have a contract; you can't have an event. Why don't you grab a couple of hotel rooms with a few of those 40 people and join us for the fun in the evenings and at night when it's cooler? With it being so close to town, there are several places to escape the heat. Wed Jul 25 Sunny 81°/55° 0% Next year, the trees that have been put in will be bigger. Perhaps I can talk Zorgon into making a donation to the Foundation so that even more trees go in. The lack of black powder on the Marcola site was not because of the trees, we had it there in previous years but the site owner said we couldn't have it. Just know that it was not on a whim or an easy decision to not give in to the absolutely unreasonable demands of the site owner. We would not have been able to remain on the Marcola site much longer anyway (read "would have had to move next year") as we were reaching the site cap. There is much more potential at the new site for growth, community involvement, and bigger and better everything. The new site with access to electricity has the potential to book pirate bands!
