During the last week of February, the Westlin Network (formerly Jarvis) which hosts the topsite lists was hacked, and the owners have not been able to fix the lists so that they will update. I have tried to be patient, but it has been more than 5 weeks, and the lists still aren't working properly. As most of you know, March was one of the busiest months ever for Teen Angels, and I was unable to post the birthdays and anniversaries as I usually do---including my own son Robbie's. My patience is at an end. There appears to be no remedy near at hand, and so I have decided to move the list to Ultimate Topsites, which has never experienced the number of problems that Westlin and Jarvis have. Here is the new site for you to join: http://usa.ultimatetopsites.com/general/teenangels/ You should know that there will be a few differences in how the list will operate on the Ultimate server. 1. I can't force updates immediately, so there is usually about a one-hour delay from the time you add your site until it shows up on the list, sometimes a little more. 2. I can't set the list to allow unlimited voting, as it doesn't work that way. However, I have set it to allow the maximum voting allowed, which is once every 15 minutes. 3. You will need to email me the size of your banner in pixels (e.g. 474 x 354) in order for me to go in and set the proper size so that your banner will show up. Ultimate allows you only to choose certain sizes. Just choose the one closest in size to your banner, then email me (saralyn@cox.net) with the true size, and I will go in and edit your account to the proper size. For some reason, only the owner of a list can edit the banner sizes! 4. The list will now update automatically, but votes still won't show up immediately; they will show up at the next regular update. If you vote more than once every 15 minutes, though, the extra votes won't be counted. I am sorry, but I have no way to change this feature. 5. I do not mind if you want to ask your friends to exchange votes----that is, you vote for them on the list of their choice, and they vote for you on Teen Angels. 6. I am attempting to set up this new Teen Angels as an ad-free list. When I am successful, I will be able to give bonus votes again for birthdays and anniversaries. I will have to check with Beth or other Ultimate list owners, but I don't think I can subtract votes, so I will probably use HTML code to place notices at the top when a member angel is having an anniversary or birthday. I strongly encourage every member to try to visit other member's sites on these special days and to sign their guestbooks. We all know how much it means to us when someone remembers OUR angel!! 7. I am planning to send out awards for the Jan-March list, based on how the votes were when the Westlin list froze way back in February. I truly hope you will all re-join Teen Angels at this new Ultimate Teen Angels site!!! Don't forget that you will need to copy the new code and post it on your site in order for the new logo to show up on your site so that you can vote. I can't fathom the depth of grief ya'll are having to go through. I get a gut wrenching feeling every time I get dispatched and the worst has happened. I wish that the judicial systems we have today wouldn't take so lightly on the defendant's who have taken a life. It is insulting to the families and slaps them in the face after the defendant walks. I don't care what the sentence is. If a person decides to drive knowing before hand he/she will become intoxicated, that show's "intent". Ignorance of the Law is not a defense. I have no idea how a system can let someone walk one or two times after charged with DWI/DUI. I wonder if the same individuals who were involved in the first two DUI convictions and slapped this defendant on the hand, are now living with MICHAELS tragedy in their heads. I use the wordation "defendant" even though the case is closed. Some think they are attorney's and would want to litegate on the website claiming defamation, slander, etc... Just going by the information given on this site and the defendant being convicted again and again and again. This incident was committed feloniously, knowingly, and willingly. I guess I don't know everything about the case but it appears that manslaughter doesn't fit this. I could go on and on. I don't know how I came across this site but I'm glad I did. I am so very sorry to learn what happen to you MICHAEL. Your family has my sympathies as well as your friends. In Law Enforcement, it feels like we are playing tennis with many crime's but speaking of what happened to you unfortunately, the courts can't give you another chance to LIVE and to LIVE a Life ABONDANTLY. Another habitual offender will come behind the one your family had to face,
and then injustice is given out to another victim you will get to meet. Then the next defendant-he/she will start getting slapped to. Some people get disgruntled with Law Officers because we are the only ones they can take there frustrations out on in public. Well we are frustrated at the way things turn out to. So MICHAEL, just briefly here's what happens, we put the criminal in jail, they let them out, we put them in jail and they let them out, the defendant kills someone, YOU, they put them in jail for a little while. I know, 10yrs is nothing. Maybe on a first conviction those drunk drivers get the 10yrs first, YOU don't get killed, and the defendant learns a lesson. I arrested a man last year and he was given his 16th. Guess what, no jail time and he pled to a forth. My partner asked him when he was going to stop, when he kills someone? He told us well he hadn't killed no one yet. I wish I could give you some real inside stuff of what happens but I can't divulge it here. I will remember you MICHAEL. You have my sympathies and yall will be in my prayers along with your loved one's and Michael's friends. I have been in Uniform Patrol since 11/94. I obviously do not know yall but you are my brothers and sisters in Christ. I can relate to alot of the stories written to yall from when I was growing up losing many of my friends who were drunk or were hit by drunks. I cannot compare or imagine the depth of grief your suffering but the sorrow of Michael's loss has touched my heart and he does live on through yall and those who have written. Though we live in the flesh, we have to allow our Father's Word/Truth/Spirit to grow continuously inside of us to give us strength against our adversary. We have to stay plugged in for Him to work through us and work in us. Christ is the only way I can walk in life and try to see things through His Spirit, than look at them in the flesh. Not to make light of any families loss by other causes, but concerning traffic homicides I have worked through the years, it is so gut wrenching, not neccessarily due to the scene but much more so to the waste of life of the victim(s) and the suffering and grieving of the families and friends. I am sorry but there is nothing I can say to help the grieving process. Christ stated in Matthew chapter 5 verse 4, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." It surprised me as I read about the defendant being charged with murder. I thought I was going to further learn that he would get a harsh sentence due to the mentioning of murder being charged against him. That doesn't happen here. It's more like negligent traffic homicide but it doesn't hold much impact against a defendant. Reading on I then learned of the injustice that was done to Michael. I have no idea why the state statutes include murder or negligent because they have no merrit or meaning behind them in the judicial systems in regards to traffic homicides. At least here and there they don't. Our department implimented a DWI (same thing) task force so officers that are going from call to call and run across a drunk, we can hand them over to the task force. When we are not on a call we can look for drunks and still hand them over. Does help some by getting more drunks off of the road but in reality there is not even a dent being knocked out of how many are on the road. Law Officer's are the only one's the public can confide in because we are out in the public. Some people hold us accountable for what happens in the system. We are just as disgusted. I wish I could address the System and advise them - A Traffic fatality in this situation is a Crime and should be treated as a Criminal Offense, not a Traffic Offense. The driver made a choice which shows "intent" to get intoxicated before he drove. It does fit the statute described in as Murder. Stand behind Law Enforcement to stop all of our fatalities involving alcohol from occuring. This defendant already had a record. How can you live with yourself after you have let a drunk just walk then to learn he/she went out and killed someone. Stop throwing them back at our citizens. To the Parent's and friends of Michael, and those that have suffered with the same tragedy, I pray through faith that in which Christ stated, He will send His Comforter unto yall. I also lost a nephew, Michael to a drunk driver. The driver was only 21 when he killed my Michael and his friend,hitting them head on while they were riding on a motorcycle. This accident was years ago and destroyed Michaels's family. The drunk driver was from a wealthy family in our town, had already killed 2 other people while drinking and driving before Michael and Roger but never served 1 day in jail for any of these murders!! Michaels brother was so upset and full of sorrow that this man didnt pay for killing his little brother, that he turned to alcohol, the same thing that caused the death of his brother. He should have been offered counseling but wasnt. About 10 years after the wreck that took Michaels life, Charles (Michaels older brother) was drunk and driving and had a wreck on the same curve that Michael was killed on crossed the line and hit a car, killing the driver of that vehicle, a young woman. So this family has been on both sides, victim and accused. Yet, Charles received 6 yrs in the state prison and the man who killed his brother got not 1 day! This is the corrupt judicial system we have in our small town in Arkansas. I investigated Michaels death and was writing a book about it when my son was shot and killed. We were told it was suicide. 33 days later, the crime lab report came back showing 000% self inflicted. Yet, i was told there was nothing they could do about it then cause no gunpowder residue tests was taken that nite of the other people present.Your site has put a desire in me to let others know about Michaels death. I have my web site and am creator of my churchs site also but am going to pray about making a web site for Michael,sharing this injustice with all. My sorrow was so great after the death of my son, that I couldnt even think much less finish the book that I had started. Please know that u are in my prayers. She was off work and getting ready to leave when a drunk driver crashed through the building killing her instantly. She was a dedicated single mother of two beautiful young children, ages 4 and 5. That was the words he used at his parole board hearing, which was denied. I don't understand why you people can't leave us alone. If its because we are fighting his parole, well thats to bad. When it comes up again in 38 months you can be assured that we will be there again and again if need be until his time is up. Don't you people ever stop to think that his "MOTHER" and the rest of his family go out there to keep his memorial alive because thats all we have left. Destroying a childs memorial like this only shows how morially despicable you people are. For example the person that killed Michael, when ask at the end of his parole board hearing if he would like to say anything on his behalf he said "NO"! any decent person would have said I'm really sorry for what I've done. I guess thats asking to much considering we are dealing with people who get there kicks from destroying a memorial to a child. This is not the first time this has happened and I'm sure it won't be the last. But rest assured you will "NEVER" succed. The love that Michaels family has for him far out weighs the hatred you have for us.

| Comments: | This was an excelent page you created. Maybe others will see what others have to suffer through. On July 10, 1999 a drunk driver litterally ran over my car. I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. I can't believe that the drug alcohol is still legal. All I see that the country sees, is that it creates money for them along with decreasing the population and committing more murder than guns and knives together within a year. Alcohol should be illegal like it used to be. By the way the drunk in my case was an off duty police officer. |

| Comments: | I really enjoyed looking through your site and taking a peak into what looked to be a great life he had, and it is a shame that a drunk driver did that. Luckly, when my mom dad and brother were hit head on by a drunk driver it left my dad with severe leg problems, sooner or later it will needed to be amputated--its just a matter of time. But fourtantly I was able to be born with a father (at the time my mom was pregnat with me)
