I have only the information I have is that my Great Grandmother's maiden name was Denton, my Grandfather was one of 11 or 12 children. Austin left Robbinsville to seek out work in Southern Indiana. I know he had worked as a lumberjack. I remember that Grandpa said our name could be spelled with an I or a Y and it had something to do with the civil war. |

I live in Clay County, and it is not easy for me to get away to Jackson County for several reasons, ie. old vehicle, care of a 91 y.o. bedbound relative. I am retired and have begun researching my family history. My daughter is a research librarian at UNC at Chapel Hill, and she tells me to document everything. I found one item that I am very interested in. The marriage of Kirk Ward to Belzuan Ward 9-4-1881. They are parents of my great grandmother Pearl Perlie Ward Shuler.
Do you have any documentation, in any of your books on the marriage? He later married Mary Taylor (W.A Ward 28) on 4-27-1889 at Quallatown. THere is more info on his second wife and children. Also do you have anything on birth of Pearl P Ward? She is buried at Parris Cemetery, Sylva, Jackson, NC. Headstone says Pearl W Shuler (husband David Hill SHuler) Dates on headstone: Aug 11, 1882 - Aug 2 1983. Also her death certificate, which I have. Hope I haven't asked too much. THank you. |

Who was John Queen,progenitor of the family who came to Jackson from Rutherford or Montgomery counties? My mother-in-law was a Queen--Papa was Robert Lee Queen, Texas Ranger and Sheriff of Hartley County TX. His grandfather was Reuben Queen of Montgomery County, NC who left with the Butler family circa 1821 for eastern TN [McMinn & Carroll Co], then to Carroll County Arkansas;to Milam/Williamson County TX in 1848. His name was William Allen Brown and his mother ? was Jane Elizabeth or Elizabeth Jane Brown. She supposedly never got married, and he had a sister Leah. | Comments: | My grandmother and mother researched and typed a book of my heritage from Norway and the work was much more labor then due to there was no internt. I am searching for family within this document and I have several original photos from 1900 1901 etc Can you point me in the direction as to how you started this page. Is this mostly for southern info? I live in Oklahoma but the roots for the Holt family seem to start in South Dakota Montana areas.
