For everyone looking for information on the Evitt Cemetery, it does exist. I went to visit my great aunt in Franklin, NC this past week and found out all about it. They have a wreath laying cemetery every August. The graves are raised? graves. We were going to visit the cemetery, but the roads were too icy. I hope to get up there sometime this year. If it is not too large, I will make a list of the graves. |

Although my surname is Henry, I have an interest in the Cathey's. My 6th great-grandfather, George Henry, was a settler in the "Cathey Settlement" in North Carolina. He received a land grant in 1748 and on March 25th, 1752 he's shown as a sworn chain carrier on the survey of George Cathey Sr.'s land. On the same date he's also shown as the sworn chain carrier on the survey of Andrew Cathey's 640 acre land grant. Obviously my ancestor was a friend and neighbor of the Cathey's because only friends and neighbors were trusted enough in those days to help measure land. Also, because neighbors kids commonly married other neighbors kids, I've always been looking for any marriage between a Henry and a Cathey. I've been looking for over 20 years and found nothing but I'm not giving up. Regards, Larry |
