I live in Clay County, and it is not easy for me to get away to Jackson County for several reasons, ie. old vehicle, care of a 91 y.o. bedbound relative. I am retired and have begun researching my family history. My daughter is a research librarian at UNC at Chapel Hill, and she tells me to document everything. I found one item that I am very interested in. The marriage of Kirk Ward to Belzuan Ward 9-4-1881. They are parents of my great grandmother Pearl Perlie Ward Shuler.
Do you have any documentation, in any of your books on the marriage? He later married Mary Taylor (W.A Ward 28) on 4-27-1889 at Quallatown. THere is more info on his second wife and children. Also do you have anything on birth of Pearl P Ward? She is buried at Parris Cemetery, Sylva, Jackson, NC. Headstone says Pearl W Shuler (husband David Hill SHuler) Dates on headstone: Aug 11, 1882 - Aug 2 1983. Also her death certificate, which I have. Hope I haven't asked too much. THank you. |

| Comments: | My mother is Soyrietta Bumgarner Bryson Thomas. She was born in cashiers, NC to Elbert & Octavia Bumgarner. I've started working on my family geneaology (I'm 57) and live in Iowa. I've been to the Bumgarner reunion about 4-5 years ago in Cashiers. My mother is 86 and still alive. She was the youngest by far of her siblings.
It looks like you've done much work! I hope to use as many resources as I can to fill in the blanks. I do know that my cousin Paul Butler, wrote a very helpful book about the Bumgarners that I do have in my possession. His mother was Lois Bumgarner Butler, a sister to my mother. |

We are great grandchildren of Thomas Jefferson Daves and Dorcas Allen Daves through their son, Charles Bowers Daves and his wife, Annie Owens. Charles and Annie moved to WA state around 1925, where all of their surviving children, eight, grew to adulthood. We are working to put some of the Daves info into a new book being put together by the Skagit Valley Genealogical Society. Your info is very helpful and my cousins are sending you some of our info.
