Do you know death date and location of Dovey Stillwell? All Tennessee Census and information has Jesse Stillwell. His marriage to Sarah shows John C.. Is John his given name and Jesse a nickname, or is John a transcribing error. Sevier County Court House burned about 1856 so those records are lost. We only have 1856 forward. I had to use Donald Reagan's book Ragan/Reagans for prior information. I found Jesse and Sarah in Blount County, TN in 1870 forward. Jesse died after 1900 (thanks to this file we know it was 1904. Sarah died 1919 and has a death certificate. TN only required death certificates starting with 1914. I would welcome a guess date and location for Dovey Stillwell. If her mother is Martha then it leaves no doubt that my great grandmother Eliza Jane's mother was also Martha. Someone just put "unknown" on her death certificate. Thank you, Helen B. Lane |

There are a number of family members who have a great deal of information; Jack Green formerly of Anchorage, Alaska had a huge collection; There are some of the younger Parris family members who are doing a lot of research. There do seem to be two "branches" of the Parris family and the Green family from the Sylva area -- I have been unable to connect Willis Green of Whittier (now deceased) with the Greens in my family. I find it hard to believe there are two sets of either in the same locality but have tried for a long time to connect some of them. It was great to find great-grandparents' and other family members' names in the marriage bonds section and cemetery lists. How sad that you lost so much documentation, but you have a lot of good information and I really enjoyed your site. Thanks! |

On my mother's side Alonzo Swanger married Ruth Cowan. Most if not all of my relatives are from Jackson County originally.

| Comments: | Thank you so much for sharing your information. I am the Great,Great Granddaughter of Prudence Presler (Pressley). I have been searching several years for her parents. Found a "gold mine" on your site. Prudence's husband, my GGGrandfather, Tilghman Tilley, died 1864, Civil War. I have been trying to locate his parents', Stephen and Catherine Powell Tilleys' graves. If you ever run across that information I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks again for your gift to all of us that seek our past.
